We went on a 10 km canoe trip down the river Vltava while on our recent Czech vacation. The section of the river we canoed is below a dam which forms the largest lake in the country, Lake Lipno which is used as a resevoir, and thus the water level in the river below the dam is controlled. The thing that makes it unique is that they have these spillways along the river where the river drops in elevation. In each case you can easily portage around the spillways, but what would be the fun in that. It was a hot and humid day and the river felt very refreshing! It also struck / impressed me, that for a river in the middle of Europe the water appeared very clean. The section at the first of the video is filmed in Cesky Krumlov and was our first introduction to what our canoe trip might resemble. :)

Granada, Spain: The Exquisite Alhambra
More info about travel to Granada: Granada's dominant sight is the Alhambra, the last and greatest Moorish palace. For two centuries, until 1492, Granada reigned as the capital of a dwindling Moorish empire. As Christian forces pushed the Moors farther and farther south, this palace was the last hurrah of a sophisticated civilization.
