The Abbey Court Notting Hill is an imposing 19th-century double-fronted townhouse only a 1-minute walk from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station. London Paddington Station is less than a 20-minute walk away, with train services to Heathrow Airport.
Formally a private residence; steeped in character, this traditional period building features 22 individually designed rooms over 4 floors with free Wi-Fi throughout. Each bedroom has a flat-screen TV, sitting area and tea and coffee-making facilities, as well as marble-clad bathroom with spa tubs (except 1 room which has a shower). Executive rooms feature carved wood four-poster beds.
A buffet-style, continental or full English breakfast can be enjoyed each morning in the naturally lit breakfast room.
In the lobby there is a 24-hour front desk, comfy sitting area, and access to a public computer.
The Abbey Court Notting Hill is a 10-minute walk from Portobello Market, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Kensington High Street’s shops are a 15-minute walk away. The Royal Albert Hall is just over a mile away.

PORTOBELLO ROAD MARKET | From Notting Hill Gate To Portobello Road Market, London - United Kingdom
Portobello Road was known prior to 1740 as Green's Lane - a winding country path leading from Kensington Gravel Pits, in what is now Notting Hill Gate, up to Kensal Green in the north.
Portobello Road Market draws thousands of tourists each year. The main market day for antiques is Saturday, the only day when all five sections are opened: second-hand goods, clothing and fashion, household essentials, fruit, vegetables and other food, and antiques. However, there are also clothing, antique, bric-a-brac, fruit and vegetable stalls throughout the week and are located further north than the antiques, near the Westway Flyover. Shops and Cafes are opened daily.
The market began as many other London market and mainly sold fresh-food in the 19th century; antiques and wares dealers arrived in the late 1940s and '50s, and gradually antiques have become the very main attraction of this market, having a substantial number of them trading mainly on Saturday mornings. It is the largest antiques market in the UK.
The market section of Portobello Road runs in a direction generally between the north-northwest and the south-south-east. The northern terminus is at Golborne Road; the southern end is at Westbourne Grove, to the east. The market area is about 1,028 yards (940 m) long.
About one third of the way from its north end, the market runs beneath adjacent bridges of the A40 road and the Hammersmith & City line of the London Underground. Here the market focuses on second hand clothes as well as couture.

NOTTING HILL HISTORY
Notting Hill is a district in West London, located north of Kensington within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Notting Hill is known for being a cosmopolitan neighbourhood, hosting the annual Notting Hill Carnival and Portobello Road Market.
In the early 21st century, Notting Hill has a reputation as an affluent and fashionable area known for attractive terraces of large Victorian townhouses and high-end shopping and restaurants (particularly around Westbourne Grove and Clarendon Cross). A Daily Telegraph article in 2004 used the phrase the Notting Hill Set to refer to a group of emerging Conservative politicians, such as David Cameron and George Osborne, who would become respectively Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer and were once based in Notting Hill.
For much of the 20th century, the large houses were subdivided into multi-occupancy rentals. Caribbean immigrants were drawn to the area in the 1950s, partly because of the cheap rents, but were exploited by slum landlords like Peter Rachman and also became the target of white Teddy Boys in the 1958 Notting Hill race riots.
From around 1870, Notting Hill had an association with artists.

A first-person perspective London walk tour from Notting Hill Gate Station to the world-famous Portobello Road Market on a sunny, winter’s morning.
See all the sights as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring a walk along Portobello Road and its market. The route begins outside Notting Hill Gate Station, then travels along Notting Hill Gate and turning right onto Pembridge Road, then continuing up Pembridge Road for a short way until turning left onto Portobello Road, next walking along most of Portobello Road, until just before the intersection with Oxford Gardens, where the tour concludes.
Sights seen along the tour include trendy shops (including Who's Next?, Backstage Originals, KOKO Art, Unofficial Banksy Store), restaurants (including Arancina, UKAI, Portobello Garden Arcade), and Stores (including Chelsea Galleries, Alice’s, Barham Antiques, Admiral Vernon Antique Market, Sara Tiara, The World Famous Portobello Market, The Distillery, Graffik Gallery London), colourful terraced houses, street art, street food, street artists (including Mad Hatter, singers, musician), Electric Cinema, and market stalls selling a variety of goods (including antiques, silverware, classic cameras, London memorabilia).

The walking route started in front of colourful houses located on Lancaster Road in the Notting Hill neighbourhood. Then walked down to Portobello Road, turned left and walked all the way to the Notting Hill Tube Station. The journey passed hundreds of shop, mainly vintage styles. From the station, we turned left to Pembroke Gardens where two block of houses are in pure white.

PORTOBELLO ROAD HISTORY
Portobello Road is a street in the Notting Hill district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in west London. It runs almost the length of Notting Hill from south to north, roughly parallel with Ladbroke Grove.
On Saturdays it is home to Portobello Road Market, one of London's notable street markets, known for its second-hand clothes and antiques.
Every August since 1996, the Portobello Film Festival has been held in locations around Portobello Road.
