SERPENTINE GALLERIES - UNITED KINGDOM, LONDON
The Serpentine Galleries are one of London’s best-loved galleries for modern and contemporary art. They attract up to 800,000 visitors in any one year and admission is free.
In the grounds of the Galleries is a permanent work by artist and poet Ian Hamilton Finlay, dedicated to the Serpentine’s former Patron Diana, Princess of Wales. The work comprises eight benches, a tree-plaque, and a carved stone circle at the Gallery’s entrance.
In September 2013, Serpentine Galleries opened its new space, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. This innovative arts venue for the 21st century is housed in the Grade II-listed building formerly known as The Magazine, situated in Kensington Gardens.
In 2016 the Serpentine Pavilion programme expanded to include four Summer Houses in a group show of architecture in the built form.

SERPENTINE GALLERIES | CANVAS EXPLORES
Canvas has much more art here:
The Serpentine Gallery, right in the centre of Hyde Park, is one of London's best places to visit if you enjoy modern art. Alongside exhibitions and installations, each year The Serpentine commissions highly imaginative summer pavilions from leading architects and designers.
We visited the gallery with Sophie Eggleton to check out this year's pavilion by Danish atchitect Bjarke Ingels, before going into the gallery and exploring the work of American painter Alex Katz and Lebanese essayist and poet, Etel Adnan.

Serpentine Paviliion 2019 (London)
Serpentine Paviliion 2019 (London)
The Japanese architect Junya Ishigami, celebrated for his experimental structures that interpret traditional architectural conventions and reflect natural phenomena, has been selected to design the Serpentine Pavilion 2019.
The design for the 2019 Serpentine Pavilion takes roofs, the most common architectural feature, as its point of departure and inspiration. It is reminiscent of roofing tiles seen around the world, bridging both architectural and cultural references through this single architectural feature. The roof of the Pavilion is made by arranging slates to create a canopy that alludes to nature. It appears to emerge from the ground of the surrounding Park.
The Pavilion could be seen for free near Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, London from 21 Jun 2019 to 6 Oct 2019

Serpentine gallery bites back
One of London's most fashionable and radical art venues - the Serpentine Gallery - proudly opened its doors again yesterday after a major face lift. The lavish renovation was a far cry from four years ago when the government threatened to raze the charming but decrepid building and replace it with facilities for horse-riding. In an opening speech Julia Peyton-Jones, the director of the Serpentine declared safeguarding the future of the gallery was well worth the long, hard struggle. In tune with its radical nature, Peyton Jones chose a typically eyebrow-raising exhibition to show the Serpentine had lost none of its bite. A retropective of the work of the provocative Italian artist Piero Manzoni, who died aged 29 in 1963, greeted the first night crowd.

A World View: John Latham. Retrospective at The Serpentine Gallery, London
The artist John Latham (1921-2006) was a pioneer of British conceptual art. His work influenced his peers as well as generations of younger artists. Currently, the Serpentine Galleries in London dedicate their exhibitions to John Latham's work. The Serpentine Gallery holds a major retrospective on Latham's oeuvre, titled “A World View: John Latham”. At the same time, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery brings together contemporary artists whose work has affinities with John Latham's ideas: Tania Bruguera, Douglas Gordon, Laure Prouvost, and Cally Spooner:
The exhibition “A World View: John Latham” spans Latham's whole career, featuring sculpture, installation, painting, film, land art, engineering, found object assemblage, performance, and his theoretical writings. It includes Latham's iconic spray and roller paintings; his one-second drawings, and films such as “Erth” (1971). This video provides you with a virtual tour of the exhibition on the occasion of the press view on March 1, 2017. The retrospective runs until May 21, 2017.
