2019 Avalon Fall Hydraulic Beach Fill - Avalon, New Jersey

The Borough of Avalon has entered into a partnership with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for a hydraulic beach fill to restore north end beaches. The project is anticipated to place at least 475,000 cubic yards of sand on Avalon’s beachfront from 9th Street to 20th Street to restore beaches to a federal template that existed prior storm events over the past two years

Great day for a surf contest! Nuns' Beach 21st Annual Surf Contest in Stone Harbor, NJ. The event took place on Saturday, Sept 17, 2016.
Nuns' Beach is close to my heart and I have surfed there for the past 48 years!! As a kid, I learned to surf there. When you were chased off of the non-surfing beaches at 10am, this was the place to go!
Watch today's kids participate in a friendly surf competition, as well as support fundraising for the long standing local seaside spiritual retreat , Villa Maria By The Sea.
