Zhaoqing - Seven Star Crags
A long peaceful walk all within the city with crags to climb, lakes to cross and caves to discover. The Seven Star Crags has beautifully manicured gardens, Buddhist & Taoist idols, classical bridges and trees that grow out of the water.
The ticket to the park costs 78 Yuan and be bought at one of the three entrances. The easiest way to get in is by walking from Paifang square between Xinghu West Road and Xinghu Avenue. No need for a guide for this one as there are plenty of maps around the park to help you find your way.
Seven Star Crags Park, Zhaoqing, China
The Seven Star Crags are located at the fringe of Zhaoqing City, Guangdong, China. They adjoin the Star Lake and form one of the most scenic locations in the province. The limestone crags are naturally arranged in the same formation as the seven stars of the Big Dipper constellation. Legend has it that the pillars of limestone grew from stars that fell from the skies. There are a number of caves in this 8 square kilometers area and some contain underground rivers that are large enough to navigate by boat. The Star Lake has been designated a national park.
Numerous sculptures of Buddhism and Taoizm idols are placed around the Star Lake. There is also a reserve for migratory birds within reach by boat ride.
It is often described as the Number One Wonder in South China. The picturesque landscape wins it the reputation of Owning both limestone peaks in Guilin and the water of West Lake in Hangzhou. The lakeside Crags overgrown on their southern sides with dense evergreen sub-tropical plants are typical of the South China landscape. The Seven-Star Crags is famous for its lush mountain, exquisite waters, perilous cliffs and fascinating caves.

Наш первый двухдневный трип по Чжаоцин. Как это было. Мы добрались до Семи звёздочных скал
(Seven Star Crags) где-то около 6 вечера. Комплекс уже был закрыт для посещения туристами, но мы, сказать по правде, особо не вписываемся в формат нормальных путешественников. Мы благополучно перелезли прямо перед входом через забор, на виду у камер, после чего пошли искать себе ночлег. Так как альтернатив у нас особо не было беседка посреди озера нам прекрасно подошла. Было очень жарко и влажно. Настолько жарко, что я звездочкой спал на бетонном полу без спальника. За ночь наши вещи не высохли, и мы такие же мокрые, уставшие и грязные пошли смотреть на ели, растущие прямо вводе, персиковый сад, статуи китайских богов. В 5 утра все еще было закрыто. К сожалению, мы не попали в пещеры и не покатались на катамаране. К девяти кассы открыли и в парк повалили толпы бабушек и дедушек в спортивных трико. В Китае старики ведут очень активный образ жизни. Для нас это был сигнал ехать обратно домой в Джухай. Мы проблуждали в парке еще час в поисках нормального забора и поехали на автовокзал потому, что сил ехать обратно автостопом просто не было и от нас еще, в добавок, пахло как от бездомных.

Zhaoqing - the three villages
In the first of a new series D J Clark travels to the three villages of Li Cha, Cheng Hu and Cha Tang in the Zhaoqing district. they all have classical Lingnan architecture from the Song dynasty with ancestral temples and classical wok-handle shaped roofs. Li Cha is the crown jewel with it's octagon shape layout surrounded by water.
To get to the starting point of the three villages walk take bus 315 from railway station bus station. The ride takes about 50 minutes, costs 10 RMB and leaves every half an hour. Tell the driver to stop and notify you at Li Cha. There is a 20 RMB charge to enter the village.
It's fun to explore Li Cha on foot, and difficult to get lost as it's surrounded by water. Outside the village their are many restaurants with local country cooking, if it's too early to eat don't worry there are other places along the way.
Once you are done exploring look for the village road out to Cha Tang and set off on foot. It takes less than an hour to reach and has lots of people and farmwife to see along the way. As with Li Cha - Cha Tong has typical Lingnan architecture from the Song dynasty with ancestral temples and classical wok-handle shaped roofs.
To get to the third village of Cheng Hu again look for the path on a map or ask around, it will take about another hour to reach. Finally walk back to Li Cha (it's a triangle so find the direct route) from where you can find the 315 bus on the other side of the road to get back to Zhaoqing.
