Displays, museum keep memories of Dr. Sun Yat-sen alive
Today marks the 151st birthday of Sun Yat-sen, a revered Chinese revolutionary leader and founder of the Kuomintang party. In his successful campaign to overthrow the Qing Dynasty, George Town on the Malaysian island of Penang played a central role. He spent several months in George Town and visited frequently, raising support and funds for his revolution. Dr. Sun and his followers left a lasting legacy in Penang, as several sites attest to.

Today, I ventured off to Cuiheng Village in Central Zhongshan. It’s an area of the city that is surprising not easy to get to using public transportation and a taxi would cost a pretty penny. However, once you get here, it’s amazing.
The entire area is preserved. You can’t take pictures inside the house, but it’s free to get in. I was the only foreigner in the area and they made that known. It’s great little tour of Chinese history and the museum has a 1st class exhibits.
Afterwards I met up with some of my friends downtown for a little late night street BBQ and beers. It was a fun, late night.

We got settled in to our apartment in Nanjing. Our first weekend, we visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, which meant--you guessed it--MORE STAIRS.
(Closed Captioned)
The Backdrop: We spent May-July in China (eight weeks in total). For the first month, I co-led a study abroad trip that brought sixteen college students to the Nanjing University of Science and Technology to study beginning Chinese. I also co-taught a Travel Writing class. As part of that trip, we went to Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai, Yellow Mountain, and Slender West Lake. Once the students left for home, my husband Jesse and I traveled around China for a few more weeks. Our travels brought us to Xi'An, Chengdu, Leshan, Jiuzhaigou, Yangshuo, and Hong Kong. It was a life-changing adventure!

南京-第二天-Nanjing Day 2
In Nanjing, I stayed with a couple of retired teachers. The wife's brother was a driver for a living and the itinerary was amazing! Of the cities I have been to in China, Nanjing is my favorite so far. It's a city of natural beauty and rich history. On the second day, I went to the Purple Mountain and saw Sun Yat Sen's tomb, a Ming tomb, and Mochou Lake Park
Chinese born Taiwanese architect Wang Da hong Died at 100
Please hit the bell along with the subscribes botton as you listen. Wang Da-hong was born on 6 July 1917 and died on 28 May 2018. He was a Chinese-born Taiwanese architect. Regarded as one of the pioneers of modernist architecture in Taiwan, his architectural philosophy, whilst very modern in its application, was informed by both the traditional Chinese garden and the Siheyuan a historical type of family residence which comprises several dwellings around a courtyard. Wang was born in Beijing, but grew up in Shanghai and Suzhou. His father was Wang Ch'ung-hui, a prominent Chinese jurist, diplomat and politician. During the early 1930s, he went to school in Switzerland. In 1936, he started studying engineering at Cambridge University, before switching to architecture. In 1940, he enrolled at Harvard University, where he was taught by Walter Gropius. There, Wang was briefly a classmate of Huang Zuo-shen aka Henry Huang, who would later become known as the founding director of The School of Architecture at Tongji University. Wang was also a classmate of both IM Pei and Philip Johnson. Returning to Shanghai in 1947, he met up again with Huang Zuo-shen, and they both started working as part of the Five United, a disparate group of Chinese architects who had mostly studied at British universities. The Society for Research and Preservation of Wang Da-hong’s Architecture was founded in December 2013. Shyu Ming-song, secretary general of the society, says that Wang's single-story house c.1953 on Jianguo South Road in Taipei, was perhaps the first Western-style work with Chinese features to garner high acclaim in Taiwan”. Wang was also a fiction writer, with two novels published. In February 2014, he was awarded Taiwan's National Cultural Award. His notable works include the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Taipei. In the early 1960s, Wang won the competition to design the National Palace Museum, however his modernist design was ultimately rejected in favour of a more traditional approach by Huang Baoyu. He died at 100 years old.GENUINE WAYS TO EARN MONEY ONLINE, start makeing easy money working from home, click here:

How to Get to Nanjing
Nanjing Tourism Promotion Film 2016 (English Version)
Visit Nanjing and you start to wonder how the city could remain such a secret among international travelers. Now this hidden treasure is ready for your discovery.
Nanjing, a metropolis of 8 million in the southwest of the lower stretches of the Yangzi River, is one of the highly-developed regions in China with strong industrial economic strength. It is the capital of Jiangsu Province. But back to the past, it was the capital of China, serving 10 dynasties and regimes.
The 6,000 years’ history has left abundant Chinese historical and cultural heritages in Nanjing. In addition to historical sights, memorials, museums and cultural sights also attract thousands of visitors. The trick of visiting Nanjing is finding a balance between ancient relics and soaring skyscrapers, and meanwhile setting among a beautiful landscape of lakes, forested parks and rivers. The city is highly alluring with the immense wealth of well-preserved Chinese culture and history, architecture unique to China's Mingguo era (1912-1949), roots of one of China’s finest cuisines, home to several excellent universities, a large population of foreign students and slower and relaxed life style, etc.
Welcome to Nanjing!
