Record-breaking Silver Bullet showcased at Wilson Center's Classic Car Night
Don't miss the Midwest premiere of Stan Johnson's recently restored, record-breaking 1966 Silver Bullet roadster on July 11, 2014 (5 pm) at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Silver Bullet will be showcased as part of the Wilson Center's annual Starry Nights' Classic Car Night (wilson-center.com/starry-nights-series) with a display of hundreds of the area's most impressive hot rods, classic, custom, and antique cars. The evening also features a free concert by the Rockin' Robbins who will perform the iconic hits of the 50s and 60s.
Attendees can show off their juiced-up rides or gather family and friends to enjoy a beautiful summer evening with blankets, lawn chairs and picnic-style dining. Food and beverage will be available for purchase from local restaurants and caterers, but guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and libations.
In 1966, Stan Johnson's aptly named Silver Bullet set a Standard 1320 Record of 142.85 miles per hour in 10.37 seconds. Still powered by its original Dodge 273 cubic inch engine, the Silver Bullet can churn out 400 horsepower at 8,600 revolutions per minute and required the design of several handmade parts. With signature features including an enclosed cockpit, hand-formed grille, port fuel injection system, and a snug headrest, the vehicle measures 16 feet in length and 1,350 pounds in weight.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Brookfield & Elm Grove (#708)
[Latest Airdate: June 7, 2018]
[Original Airdate: March 1, 2018]
Brookfield and Elm Grove are only 15 minutes west of Milwaukee. The idyllic, small village of Elm Grove is surrounded by Brookfield on three sides. It has a downtown that is charm itself. John made art, visited private properties and an Irish Pub. Brookfield is large, has a lot of subdivisions, tons of shopping and good food. We spent time at the police department (by choice, not circumstance), at Brookfield Square and with the girls of the Glacier Hockey.
We know people in both communities --- lots of people --- who have already said, Why didn't you just choose Brookfield? or Elm Grove deserved its own episode! Here's the truth: It was just easier to include both Brookfield and Elm Grove than to drive through or around one or the other. Look, we love you all, and we love you equally! (Seriously? You thought we'd chose one and not the other? Please!...)
