Live: Remains of 10 Chinese soldiers to return home第六批在韩中国人民志愿军烈士遗骸回国
As part of a consensus reached by China and South Korea in 2013, the remains of Chinese Volunteer Soldiers who served in the Korean War will be sent home to China before the Tomb-Sweeping Day yearly. The latest statistics show that more than 190 thousand soldiers from the Chinese Volunteer Army died during the War, but only 2 or 3 percent of them are buried in China.
In 2019, remains of 10 Chinese Volunteer Soldiers who died in the Korean War will be returned. After being returned to home soil, the coffins will be covered by Chinese national flags and transferred to the martyrs' cemetery in Shenyang for burial. That way, China is given the opportunity to say a proper goodbye to those 10 fallen soldiers.

Return of Korean War remains to China
On Monday, the remains of 10 soldiers, known as the Chinese People's Volunteers, were laid in coffins. A Chinese delegation was present at the ceremony when the South Korea military wrapped the remains in the port city of Incheon. The remains will be buried at a martyrs' cemetery in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province. In the past five years, the remains of nearly 600 Chinese soldiers have been repatriated. The handover will happen just before Qingming, a traditional Chinese festival to visit the tombs of ancestors and clean their gravesites. Nearly 360,000 Chinese soldiers died in the Korean War. Though South Korea has made efforts to return their remains, more than half a century later, many of the fallen fighters have yet to return home.

Urban families opt for sea burials in land challenged China
LEADIN
With spare land being swallowed up in urban China, authorities in Shanghai are encouraging families to opt for sea burials for their loved ones.
They're even offering to foot the bill.
STORYLINE
Taking their loved ones on a final journey.
These grieving relatives, holding bags containing the ashes of loved ones, are taking to the water to bury their relatives.
Today's service - organised by the FIS Burial Company - is transporting more than 400 relatives of 99 deceased people to open waters from a dock in Shanghai.
Since 1991, when the company first started sea burial services, it has helped scatter the ashes of almost 30-thousand people.
The number of burials of this kind have increased by up to eight percent each year, according to managers.
Local government authorities offer financial support to families for sea burials, covering overall costs of around 2000 Yuan (320 US dollars) per individual.
This year we will arrange 28 trips, which has multiplied many times. Now every year we have two thousand families on average, says Zhan Yun Hua, General Manager of the FIS Burial Company.
A ceremony is held onboard the ship during a three-hour journey to a point in the sea, where the Huangpu River is believed to end.
Jennifer Morrissey, originally from Shanghai, and her husband Art, from the US, got married six years ago and moved to San Francisco.
They have come today to say goodbye to Jennifer's father together with her mother and other relatives.
For Jennifer, a sea burial is not about the subsidies.
Since we have such a big population in China, the dead people take a lot of spaces. So, if you throw in the sea, it helps out, says Jennifer.
You know either you buried or you throw in the sea, it's the same and my dad loved to travel and you know he can travel with us, the waves and go everywhere.
As the final goodbye comes, the emotions become clear.
You know you are on a boat full of people that are saying goodbye, their final goodbye. There's obviously relief but there is a lot of sadness because it's 'goodbye!' says Art.
But I knew dad for a short time and he was a good man. I enjoyed a little bit of time I had with him.
Back on dry land, the Song He Cemetery in Shanghai caters for more traditional burials.
It occupies 960 acres of land and has room for up to 300-thousand graves.
Leases run for up to 70 years, with prices ranging from 8,000 Yuan (1280 US dollars) to three million Yuan (480,000 US dollars) for a customised tomb.
Mr. Liu has is visiting his cousin's grave at the cemetery.
For him, providing a land burial is a question of honor and tradition.
There is an ancient belief that a soul can only find peace if the body is buried on land.
I heard about sea burial but I have a different idea. Because I come from a rural village, we have a different conception than people in the cities. There's no land in the city, but we do have land in the village, says Mr. Liu.
We like to follow the tradition as we believe in 'ru tu wei an' which means buried to rest in peace. It's impossible that I leave a dead relative out, so about the sea burial, we don't even dare think about.
But the authorities hope that by offering subsidies, it will encourage more people like Mr. Liu to change their minds in the future - and opt for a sea ceremony instead.

Remains of 20 Chinese Volunteer Soldiers Return Home From South Korea
The remains of 20 soldiers of the Chinese People's Volunteers who fought in the Korean War more than 60 years ago were returned to China from South Korea on Wednesday.
The plane of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force carrying the remains touched down at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in northeast China's Liaoning Province at around 11:30.
A memorial service was held to mark the return.
For their comrades-in arms who have fought alongside these soldiers during the war and their relatives, the flight could be the one they have been waiting for over half an century.
Since the identities of these 20 sets of remains of volunteer soldiers were unknown, veterans at the ceremony could only regard them as their comrades-in-arms, and for the relatives, what really matters was bringing the remains back to the home soil.
The coffins were covered by China's national flag, which is the highest honor given by the PLA.
This is the fifth annual return under a 2013 agreement between China and South Korean, which has so far seen 569 sets of remains sent back to China.
Both countries agreed to repatriate the remains on humanitarian grounds.
These remains will be buried at the Korean Martyrs' Cemetery in Shenyang on Thursday morning.

The easiest way to get around in China is by using the motorcycle taxis. They are cheap, and get you places fast.
Rides vary from 50 cents to $3 if you are going far. It is inconvenient for the drivers to go far so they charge more. This is because they usually hang out in one specific area and feed off the same customers. However getting those far rides on a bike really beats a taxi especially during rush hour.
