Mastering Chinese Poetry Ep. 1: Classic poem on working harder for a better life 《登鸛雀樓》
Each culture is embedded with words, customs, literature, music or other patterns of expression to reflect its history. This is true about Chinese culture as well. With a history of more than 5,000 years, Chinese poetry has provided a format and a forum for both public and private expressions of deep emotions.
CGTN's special series Mastering Chinese Poetry prepares a list of Chinese poems that offer clues to Chinese history and culture through ancient expressions. In the first episode, we look at one of the classic poems in the history of Chinese literature: On the Stork Tower. The poem was written by Chinese poet Wang Zhihuan during the glorious age of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). In modern times, Chinese people love to use its lines to encourage young people to work harder to have a better life.

Snow Dragon Mountain - China
January 2008
China may have one of the newest skiing industries in the world but it also has one of the fastest growing. With some resorts open 24 hours a day, more and more people are discovering the delights of skiing.
Beijing has more than ten skiing resorts within a few hours drive and more resorts are opening all the time. Skiers come from as far away as America and France to try out the local slopes. Now foreign investors are starting to recognise the potential for growth. As one says; it's a future market that's very important.
Mastering Chinese Poetry Ep. 2: Love Seeds 《紅豆》
Love, a forever topic in human history, is also an everlasting theme in Chinese literature and poetry. What symbol represents love in your country – the heart, rose, swan, or dove?
In this episode, we are going to look at a famous classic Chinese poem, Love Seeds. It is a Tang Dynasty poem, written by poet Wang Wei, who pined for one of his friends with red beans, also seen as love seeds in China. As time goes on, Chinese people have used red beans to convey a yearning emotion between lovers.

北京四平山日落延时摄影 Beijing Siping Hill sunset time-lapse photography

Mountaineering route: From the Guangning Village in the west and the Moshikou community in the east, you can climb mountains. Generally speaking, the mountaineering is closer to the latter. After getting off at the Shougang Community Station by bus, walk north to the cross road and then walk straight to the west. Arrive at the low junction of the two mountains, where you can head to Heishantou in the south and go north to Siping Hill.
