Adeyto ????????️ Azusa River KAPPABASHI KAMIKOCHI Hotaka Mountain SHINSHU Apple NAGANO Japan Alps
Turquoise River Azusa crystal clear, the Hotaka Mountain Range and Kappabashi wooden bridge are the iconic image of Kamikochi so finally in this video we get to see these in different lights, early morning with ice crystals on the surrounding plant life, sparkling in the warm sun and blue sky and then again in copper tones and scattered clouds. We get to meet a cute ???? birdie doing a crazy boat race on a pond chasing fishes probably, and get to try the famous Nagano Apples baked in Shinshu style that is best at preserving the natural flavor. Kamikochi and all the Swiss style hotels are now already closed down as I'm winter the snow there is huge and all roads closed down too. But in spring they will reopen and come back to life and hopefully we can go again to this hidden gem of the Japan Alps! Easy to get here from Tokyo by Highway Bus, with the Alpico Line for around $65 one way. All hotels are quite expensive starting at more than $200 per person but there are fancy & clean dormitory private beds for around $110 including dinner and breakfast! Also a large camp site and many more options when in season! I can't wait to meet again the kind-hearted staff of my Alpen Hotel who made my stay so memorable!!!

Shogun 2 1v1 Replay Commentary #00037 Shinano river shenanigans
Here's an interesting battle where I decided to bring some cheap matchlocks as a bait unit. Funny how people will go out of their way to kill them. I've talked about this with Vizeroh a bit too and decided to give it a try. Didn't work out as perfectly as I hoped but I'll try to improve this tactic in the future.
Kiso Valley Day Trip! Edo Era Japanese Postal Towns | Japan April 2018
Oh this was one of my favourite days of the whole trip! Hey everyone! Today Liam and I are off to Kiso Valley! Kiso Valley is home to two Japanese Postal Towns which are one of the 69 towns along the Nakasendo - an old route connecting Kyoto to Edo (now Tokyo) through the mountains. We walked between Magome and Tsumago, stopping for lunch, scenery and more general Japan travel tips! Thanks so much for watching! Off to Kyoto in the next vlog!

The Nakasendō (中山道 Central Mountain Route), also called the Kisokaidō (木曾街道), was one of the five routes of the Edo period, and one of the two that connected Edo (modern-day Tokyo) to Kyoto in Japan. There were 69 stations (staging-posts) between Edo and Kyoto, crossing through Musashi, Kōzuke, Shinano, Mino and Ōmi provinces. In addition to Tokyo and Kyoto, the Nakasendō runs through the modern-day prefectures of Saitama, Gunma, Nagano, Gifu and Shiga, with a total distance of about 534 km (332 mi).
Unlike the coastal Tōkaidō, the Nakasendō traveled inland, hence its name, which can be translated as 中 = central; 山 = mountain; 道 = route (as opposed to the Tōkaidō, which roughly meant eastern sea route). Because it was such a well-developed road, many famous persons, including the haiku master Matsuo Bashō, traveled the road. Many people preferred traveling along the Nakasendō because it did not require travelers to ford any rivers.
Nakatsugawa-juku (中津川宿 Nakatsugawa-juku) was the forty-fifth of the sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendō. It is located in the present-day city of Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. During the Edo period, Nakatsugawa-juku reached a population of over 1,230 people and contained over 175 homes. There are many historical artifacts remaining today, including a stone monument with a haiku written by Matsuo Bashō.
Magome-juku (馬籠宿 Magome-juku) was the forty-third of the sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendō, an ancient road that connected Kyoto and Edo during the Edo period. It was also the last of eleven stations along the Kisoji, which was the precursor to a part of the Nakasendō, running through the Kiso Valley. This well-preserved section of the old route is in the present-day city of Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
The Nakasendo or 'Road through the Central Mountains' was part of feudal Japan's network of highways. Travellers moving between Kyoto and Tokyo took several days to travel the Nakasendo, staying overnight in Juku post towns. Today's visitors can walk sections of the original route by day and stay in local inns by night.
All our self-guided Nakasendo Trail tours offer the opportunity to spend a leisurely second night at the comfortable Ryokan in Kiso-Fukushima, part-way along the trail. Please ask for information about our tour extensions; enjoy spectacular views of Mount Fuji from the Hakone hot spring area and the rural village of Oshino Mura, or the peaceful, agricultural community of Asuka at a charming Japanese inn or with a local family for a unique homestay experience.
The 69 Stations of the Nakasendō (中山道六十九次 Nakasendō Rokujūkyū-tsugi) are the rest areas along the Nakasendō, which ran from Nihonbashi in Edo (modern-day Tokyo) to Sanjō Ōhashi in Kyoto. The route stretched approximately 534 km (332 mi) and was an alternate trade route to the Tōkaidō.

*How to Travel to Matsumoto Castle by Train*
From Tokyo to Nagano it takes 1 hour and 22 mins on the Shinkansen. Then from Nagano station, you’ll take the JR to Matsumoto Station which takes about 50 minutes. From Matsumoto station, it is a short 15 minute walk to the castle.
*Matsumoto Travel Tip*
Before heading to Matsumoto I dropped off my luggage in a locker at Nagano station. It's a convenient way to not have to carry a large suitcase everywhere you go for a day. It's super easy to use - just follow the instructions on the computer.
Even though this machine is marked with Suica you can still use PASMO and vice versa. If you're using an older coin locker you should take a picture of the locker and the area around it just in case you forget where it is when you come back for your stuff.
*Does It Cost Money to Visit Matsumoto Castle?*
If you don't want to pay to go into the castle, you can walk around the castle. It is a relaxing stroll and be sure to take plenty of photos of the castle from different angles.
It cost 610 yen a person to go inside the castle courtyard and castle.
*Matsumoto Castle fun facts*
Here are some interesting facts about Matsumoto castle:
- It is unique because it is a hirajiro which is a castle built on plains rather than on a hill or mountain. Because of this the castle has to build its own defense system which includes inter-connecting walls, moats, and gatehouses. Also it makes for great picture because of the Northern Alps in the background of the castle
- There are 12 castles all around Japan but only two is five stories high: this one and Himeji castle. But there's a secret inside: there is an extra floor inside that looks like a loft.
- Matsumoto castle is also known as the black castle because of its black exterior
*Frog Street: Nawate Dori Street*
On your way back to the JR station don't forget to check out Nawate dori street, which is also known as frog street.
There used to be a ton of Kajika frogs which roamed this area. In 1959, a typhoon came and caused the river to overflow. This made all the frogs leave for higher ground and cleaner water upstream. The people worked hard to clean up the river, but the frogs never came back. The people of the city then built many artificial frogs to bring Nawate Street’s spirit back.
In 1972, the Kaeru Daimyoujin, a mini frog shrine, was created to revamp the old street. Nawate Street was then coined Kaeru Machi ('Frog Street'), a place where locals and travelers could bask in the lively atmosphere of days past.
It is Matsumoto's Edo Era-themed shopping street. It takes you back into history and see how shops back then used to look like. There are cute boutique shops and antique dealers. If you want a little snack there are bakeries and candy stories.

Jembatan Kappa bashi adalah hal yang menonjol dari Kamikochi, Nagano, Jepang
Jembatan Kappa bashi adalah hal yang menonjol dari Kamikochi, Nagano, Jepang
【★006★Nagano Kamikochi Kappabashi(Kappa Bridge)】
