Beijing Ducks
The Beijing Shougang Ducks or Beijing Shougang or Beijing Ducks are a professional basketball team based in Beijing, China, which plays in the North Division of the Chinese Basketball Association. The Shougang Corporation is the club's corporate sponsor while its mascot is a duck.
The team was formerly known as the Beijing Jinyu Ducks or Beijing Jinyu. The name change was due to a change in corporate sponsorship. This organization should not be confused with the Beijing Olympians, a different club, which was founded in 1955.

(03/30/2012) After winning the decisive game five of the CBA finals series to secure the title for his underdog Beijing Ducks team, (0:35) Steph returns back to the center stage all by himself in front of 18,000 fans in Beijing Mastercard Center to receive the roaring chant of MVP. Even though according to CBA rule, the finals MVP won't go to a foreign player (ironically, the award went to a taiwanese player in Li, anyhow...), but the fans have clearly spoken their mind out loud.

Former NBA players Allen Iverson and Jason Williams have been added to a roster of a team coached by Hall of Famer Tiny Archibald that will play the 2012 Chinese Basketball Association's champion Beijing Ducks on Saturday in Beijing.
Iverson, an 11-time NBA All-Star, and Williams, who played on the Miami Heat's first NBA championship team in 2006, will play on a roster that includes Damon Jones, Charoy Bentley, Shane Burrell, Zendon Hamilton, J.R. Inman, J. R. Reid and Guy Dupuy.
As basketball continues to grow on the global stage, these events hone in on our efforts to continually use the sport of basketball to break down cultural barriers around the globe, said Charles D. Smith, chairman and CEO of the Professional Basketball Alumni Association. We are equally excited for the chance to play against some of China's best players. We will give fans an exciting game where they can cheer for their former basketball heroes.
Iverson, 37, the 2001 NBA MVP, would like to return to the NBA but has found no interest. He last played for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2010. China, he said, is another option, and this appearance will provide him further exposure in China.
I definitely want to return to the NBA, but if I can't get back there, I'm hoping to play ball here, Iverson told Chinese media last month
Iverson's willingness to play in China is partly because of Stephon Marbury's success there, according to china.org.sn. Marbury led the Ducks to the Chinese Basketball Association title in March, and Iverson faced Marbury and the Ducks in some exhibition games over the summer.
Williams was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1999 and went on to average 10.5 points and 5.9 assists per game over 13 seasons.

Ever since Allen Iverson traveled to China for a celebrity tour in October and then immediately crossed over a defender just like the old times, details have been scarce about AI. Here's what we can gather from watching this video uploaded today from China, then: After being presented with a poster of his face with the inscription Ra Boogie, AI dropped 37 points, showed off a silky jumper and tossed his fair share of alley-oops in a recent game between players — including Rafer Alston — who have seen better days.
There's Baby Shaq, The Professor, Mr. 720 and someone called Mr. Africa on Iverson's side going against Rafer Alston and Bone Collector. Three-quarters of these rosters could have been transplanted from 2005 to China and it would have looked the exact same. Except for Iverson, of course, who's still trying to get on a roster but was reported two months ago to be in horrendous physical shape before his first arrival in China. Other than his jumper, which looks fine, there's little evidence to suggest 1) he's in any better shape and 2) that this game even required him to be in shape.
Judging by Iverson's tweets, this game appears to have been in Naiging by his tweet from Dec. 2 saying, Enjoyed my time in Naiging, next stop Fuzhou!!! Does this mean another highlight tape could emerge from a game in Fuzhou? If it does, I'll still watch. Even in China against a group of guys hanging onto their hoops careers, Iverson is still worth watching. His name still holds interest in basketball, but could his game hold up in a competitive league?

Tracy McGrady spent last season coming off the Atlanta Hawks' bench.
This season, McGrady may be back in a starting role - but he might have to travel to the other side of the world to get it.
McGrady has agreed to a deal with Qingdao of the Chinese Basketball Association after no NBA team was willing to give the former scoring champion and All-Star a roster spot.
The seven-time All-Star spent last year in a reserve role with the Hawks, but clashed several times with the coaching staff about his role on the team. His average of 5.3 points per game was by far the lowest of his career. Now, at 33, the former star appears headed to the Far East to ply his trade.
McGrady signed with the Hawks shortly after the NBA lockout ended last year to a one-year, veteran minimum deal. However, the veteran was unhappy with his playing time (just 16 minutes per game) and unable to fight off knee and back injuries that caused him to miss 14 games last year.
