5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Seattle, Washington | United States Day Tours Guide
5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Seattle, the United States.
Whether you're seeking a rural or urban getaway, Seattle offers many opportunities for day trips by ferry or car. Secluded islands with quiet bays, villages showcasing Native American culture, serene national parks, and unusual museums are all within easy day-trip distance of downtown.
Larger cities near Seattle, like Tacoma and Bellevue, lure visitors with their art museums and international cuisine. Smaller communities along Puget Sound maintain a slower speed - a pace that makes time for boat trips to state parks; discovering fun local heritage; and learning about a few famous connections, be it Jimi Hendrix in Renton or Twin Peaks locations in North Bend. Here five day trips from Seattle, Washington.
1. Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands
2. Victoria, British Columbia
3. Olympic National Park
4. Future of Flight - Aviation Center & Boeing Tour
5. Tacoma

Pike Place Market - AMERICA'S #1 CHOWDER + Must-Eat Market Tour in Seattle | American Food!
►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week:
►T-shirts and caps available now:
Pike Place Market is a landmark of #Seattle, and one of the oldest continuously functioning markets in the United States. I had been there once before when I was a kid, but this time I was on a mission to go on the ultimate Pike Place Market food tour!
In this video you’ll find some of the best food within the market and all the details about what to order and eat when you’re in Seattle, Washington. One tip - go early to start eating before the main huge rush comes - when it gets to mid-day, the market is packed.
Here are all the restaurants we tried at #PikePlaceMarket:
Lowell's Restaurant - For breakfast we went to the legendary Lowell's Restaurant, serving a mix of classic American food including seafood. I wanted to try their dungeness crab eggs benedict, which was a little expensive, but pretty good.
Dungeness crab eggs benedict - $25
Pure Food Fish Market - Next to Lowell’s don’t miss the smoked salmon. Again, it’s not cheap, but it’s so good, salmon glistening and embedded with smoke.
½ Pound salmon - $16.56
Ghost Alley Espresso - Next on this Pike Place Market food tour I was in desperate need of a coffee to begin the morning so we navigated our way past the gnarly gum alley to Ghost Alley Espresso. Great place for a quick cup of espresso.
Doppio espresso - $3
Piroshky Piroshky - A legendary bakery that serves mostly Russian influenced baked goods, both sweet and savory, is Piroshky Piroshky. Again, I tried to keep it pretty classic, and Seattle style, so Jason and I split the salmon pate piroshky. It was very tasty, with a cream cheesy taste.
Salmon - $6.85
Pike Place Chowder - Having won every chowder competition and award in the US as possible, Pike Place Chowder serves America’s #1 Chowder. So you know you can’t miss it when you go to Pike Place Market. We got in line about 20 minutes before they opened and line didn’t take long. You order, get your chowder, and then sit down. I don’t have too much experience with chowder, but indeed it was good, and I also really liked the seafood bisque.
Total price - $37.76 total
Beecher's Handmade Cheese - Another classic is Beecher's Handmade Cheese where you can sample cheese curds and also order grilled cheese sandwiches.
Flagship sandwich - $7.49
Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt - They also have a very loyal following and for sure it’s some of the best yogurt I’ve ever tried.
Market Grill - Finally to end this Seattle food tour we stopped at Market Grill, right in the heart of the market and I ordered the grilled salmon plate. Overall, it was good, and a perfect ending to this extreme food tour!
Grilled salmon plate - $15
Thank you for watching!

About this airport:
Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (IATA: SEA, ICAO: KSEA, FAA LID: SEA) (Sea-Tac Airport or Sea-Tac) /ˈsiːtæk/ is the largest airport in the Pacific Northwest region of the North America and thirteenth-busiest airport in the United States. It is in the eponymous city of SeaTac, Washington, about twelve miles south of downtown Seattle and is the primary airport for the Seattle metropolitan area.
The airport has flights to cities throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It is the main hub for Alaska Airlines and its regional subsidiary Horizon Air, whose headquarters are near the airport. It is a hub and international gateway to Asia and Europe for Delta Air Lines, which has expanded at Sea-Tac since 2011.
In 2016, the airport served over 45 million passengers and considered one of the fastest growing airports in the US and the world.[3] It is categorized in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2015–2019 as a primary commercial service (large hub) airport based on 16,121,123 enplanements in 2012.[4] The airport is the largest generator of vehicle trips[5] in the state, and its 13,000-car parking garage is North America's largest parking structure under one roof.[6]

Flying Fish at the Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington
Pierre Repooc Productions - URL:
Pike Place Market opened August 17, 1907 and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States. With more than 10 million visitors annually, Pike Place Market is Seattle's most popular tourist destinations and is the 33rd most visited tourist attraction in the world.
One of the Market's major attractions is Pike Place Fish Market, where employees throw three-foot salmon and other fish to each other rather passing them by hand. When a customer orders a fish, an employee at the ice-covered fish table picks up the fish and hurls it over the countertop, where another employee catches it and preps it for sale. The tradition started when the fishmongers got tired of having to walk out to the fish tables to retrieve a salmon each time someone ordered one. It was easier to station an employee at the tables, to throw the fish over the counter.

Seattle - City Video Guide
Seattle, on the coast between Puget Sound and Lake Washington is one of North America's most beautiful cities.
In Downtown Seattle, you will discover some of the city's oldest buildings around Pioneer Square. The Seattle Waterfront is famous for its seafood restaurants and pleasure cruises, and it's a short, steep climb to Pike Place Market.
A short drive north from downtown brings you to Woodland Park Zoo, the Seattle Museum of Flight, or Lake Union.
The Seattle Center is home to the Pacific Science Center and the popular International Fountain, as well as Seattle's most recognized landmark, the Space Needle. On a clear day, the observation deck at the top offers views as far as Mount Rainier.
Meanwhile Kerry Park on the south side of Queen Anne Hill offers a great view of Seattle and the Space Needle itself, which is particularly impressive when the sun goes down.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival & Seattle Cherry Blossom Festival (2020)
Check out the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival & Seattle Cherry Blossom Festival with us! Today, we're going to check out this festival and all the history surrounding it, then we'll head back down to Seattle and we'll be checking out the cherry blossom trees at the Washington Arboretum Park and also the University of Washington quad. Like much of Washington's population, the cherry trees and tulips aren't native to this state. Nevertheless, they've both become cultural staples of the region and continue to grow every year. There's a lot to see so let's get started.
Now we're in Tulip Town, it's one of the main attractions for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. One of the most striking sights here at Tulip Town is this windmill right here and this windmill is a result of the owner of Tulip Town, his name is Tom De Goede, and in 2003 he visited his family's home in Holland. This windmill is an exact replica of his family's windmill in Holland.
How did a festival like this end up in Skagit, Washington of all places? Well, in 1893 an English immigrant named George Gibbs bought $5 worth of tulip bulbs and he planted them on Orcas Island. A couple of years after he planted them, he dug them up and realized the massive potential for tulip bulbs in the Pacific Northwest region.
In 1899, Gibbs contacted the United States Government about growing tulip bulbs in the area and the U.S. Government said okay, we're interested, so in 1905 they shipped him 15,000 bulbs directly from Holland and that experiment was so successful that the U.S. Government set up their own 10 acre parcel in Bellingham strictly to grow tulip bulbs.
The Bellingham Tulip Festival ran from about 1920 to 1930. The Great Depression came along and kind of stopped the festival, so what the growers did is they moved from Bellingham further down to here in Skagit where we have the festival now.
For many years local growers displayed their tulip bulbs in showcase gardens and then in 1984 the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce established the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Initially, it was a three-day festival and now it's kind of morphed into a month-long event where you got sporting events, a street fair, and you've got art displays throughout the area.
We're here now at Roozen Garden, a famous flower and bulb shop and also one of the major sponsors of the tulip festival here in Skagit, Washington. Roozen Garden was started by the Roozen family and the Washington Bulb Company in 1985. Their business of selling tulips, irises, and a number of other flowers is the largest of its kind in the world. Fresh cut flowers are available for purchase or for shipment anywhere in the United States year round. Roozen Garden is truly one of a kind and much more than a simple flower shop.
We are now heading back into Seattle and we are going to check out the Washington Park Arboretum and the cherry blossom trees, see if they're blossoming there. We are in Seattle's Washington Arboretum Park and behind me, you can see a nicely blooming cherry blossom, so how did these cherry blossom trees get to Seattle? How did they get to the state of Washington? They are not a native plant to here.
Well, in 1912 the Mayor of Tokyo, Japan gifted 34 cherry blossom trees to Washington. He also gifted a number to other states but Washington got 34 and originally those 34 were planted right here in Washington Park Arboretum. Then in the 1960s, 31 of those trees were moved to the Quad and moved to the University of Washington that we'll take a look at in this sequence also, but this is kind of where it all started.
Throughout the park, there are these cool descriptive plaques that give you a little bit of the history of how the trees got here and just the history of the botanical gardens in general. If you're a fan of a little bit quieter area, not quite as crowded as the University's Quad, this is a great place to come.

Travel Vlog! Seattle, Washington | Seattle tour in 10 MINUTES!!
This video is about our visit to Seattle an early Thanksgiving family visit. I know it's slightly off-topic for the channel but I wanted to share it. Anyway, normality will presume in the next video so don't concern yourself too much. As always thanks for watching.
Seattle is a seaport city on the West Coast of the United States. It is the seat of King County, Washington. With an estimated 744,955 residents as of 2018, Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. According to U.S. Census data released in 2018, the Seattle metropolitan area's population stands at 3.94 million, and ranks as the 15th largest in the United States.[10] In July 2013, it was the fastest-growing major city in the United States[11] and remained in the top 5 in May 2015 with an annual growth rate of 2.1%.[12] In July 2016, Seattle was again the fastest-growing major U.S. city, with a 3.1% annual growth rate.[13] Seattle is the northernmost large city in the United States.
The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the fourth-largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.[14]
The Seattle area was inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers.[15] Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon, on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851.[16] The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named Seattle in 1852, in honor of Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. Today, Seattle has high populations of Native, Scandinavian, Asian American, African American, as well as a thriving LGBT community that ranks 6th in the United States for population.[17]
Logging was Seattle's first major industry, but by the late 19th century, the city had become a commercial and shipbuilding center as a gateway to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush. Growth after World War II was partially due to the local Boeing company, which established Seattle as a center for aircraft manufacturing. The Seattle area developed into a technology center from the 1980s onwards with companies like Microsoft becoming established in the region; Microsoft founder Bill Gates is a Seattleite by birth. Internet retailer Amazon was founded in Seattle in 1994, and major airline Alaska Airlines is based in SeaTac, Washington, serving Seattle's international airport, Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. The stream of new software, biotechnology, and Internet companies led to an economic revival, which increased the city's population by almost 50,000 between 1990 and 2000. Owing largely to its rapidly increasing population in the 21st century, Seattle and the state of Washington have some of the highest minimum wages in the country, at $15 per hour for smaller businesses and $16 for the city's largest employers.[18]
Seattle has a noteworthy musical history. From 1918 to 1951, nearly two dozen jazz nightclubs existed along Jackson Street, from the current Chinatown/International District to the Central District. The jazz scene nurtured the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson, and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix, as well as the origin of the bands Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters and the alternative rock movement grunge.[19]

Visiting the Fremont Troll in Seattle Washington
The Fremont Troll is a large 15 tall sculpture of a troll that lives under a bridge in Seattle Washington.
The Troll is located under the Aurora bridge that carries state route 99, in the neighborhood of Fremont. The Troll was originally built in the 1990's to clean up an area that had become a haven for drug dealers. Now it's a haven for tourists!
This is definitely one of those wild and wacky things to do in Seattle. But if you're like me, and you like the quirky attractions, go check out the Fremont Troll.
