Nagoya Japan Science Museum Special Interactive Exhibit
We took the kids to the Nagoya Science Museum and checked out their latest interactive exhibit where the kids where able to color in pages of cars and space shuttles and scan them so they would show up on a screen. Even the screen was interactive! You could touch your truck or shuttle and special effects would happen. Very cool!

Grandfather of Manga | Ukiyo-e in Nagoya, Japan
We were invited out by the Daiichi Art Museum to go check out their Ukiyo-e Exhibit. Ukiyo-e could really be considered the grandfather of manga because without this medium, which often described the liveliness of Japanese culture, we have never gotten many of the beloved Manga and anime that we love today. We decided to check out some of the other sightseeing places in the area! We visited a local monthly market for local people called Kunoichi Market. There were also quite a few interesting temples and shrines.
Finally, we got to check out the home of some of the largest fried shrimp that I have ever SEEN!

Visiting the Iga Ninja Museum on a Day Trip from Nagoya
Have you always wanted to become a Ninja? Then there is one place in Japan you have to visit: Iga
Iga has the longest history if Ninja in Japan and at the Iga Ninja Museum you can learn a lot about Ninja. The museum has a real Ninja house with hidden doors and secret tunnels. Don't forget to attend the Ninja show where you can see the amazing Ninja weapons in action!
Afterward, you might want to visit the Ninja Cafe the home of the Ninja Cat.
And how about a visit to Moku Moku Farm where you can learn how to make sausages (and eat them afterward with a nice cool beer). I know this one doesn't have anything to do with Ninja.

Interview to Jee Hui Chang in her solo exhibition at Nagoya Japan
The vibe of a relationship
Jee Hui Chang Solo Exhibition
5/R Hall&Gallery
3.Oct.2019 - 8.Oct.2019
In my works, ‘The Relationship’ is always theme.
Living in society we are always let down in the relationship.
Whatever I want or not. Still around me.
As I am an artist, I thought my voice can make sound between human, situation and timing.
Therefore I start focused on the Relationship. Between the relationship always has desire. The empty space between others like Lacan’s Desire theory.
Recently, I make abstract fabric collage based on the moment and the story within the relationship.
In my point, the relationship and the desire is the part of nature and it reflect on naturally phenomenon and destiny.
For one example, In the Red Collage series, it is specific Edith Piaf’s life and relationship. But in this upcoming 5r exhibition, I will try to found another story.

JAPAN: FIRST VAN GOGH EXHIBITION IN 40 YEARS OPENS IN YOKOHAMA
Japanese/Nat
The first Van Gogh exhibition to tour Japan in nearly 40 years has opened in Yokohama.
The collection, which includes many of the artist's finest masterpieces, was seen Friday by Japan's Crown Prince and Princess.
Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and Princess Mosako arrived to a full reception at Yokohama Museum.
They came to see 73 works by Vincent Van Gogh -- considered one of the world's finest post-impressionist painters.
Contained in the collections is more than 31 oil paintings and 41 water colours and drawings.
These Van Gogh masterpieces are on loan from the Kroller-Muller Museum in the Netherlands as part of a two-stop tour of Japan.
The Japanese have a special affection and interest in Vincent Van Gogh.
Although the Netherlands and France provided the main sources of his inspiration, he also took interest in 17th to mid-19th century Japanese wood printing.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
Van Gogh loved Ukiyoe (U-ki-yo-e) Japanese traditional wood printings. He thought that he has never seen such kind of art in Europe. To him, Japan was an amazing country which has produced such great art works. He was always dreaming of Japan.
SUPER CAPTION: Mitsuru Nikaido, Curator Yokohama Museum
The guests seemed suitably impressed with the exhibition that included a self-portrait of the artist.
The works are on show until the 11th February when they then move to the city of Nagoya.

Organizers of Japan's 'Aichi Triennale' art festival agree to reopen 'comfort women' exhibition
'소녀상' 전시 日 아이치 트리엔날레 기획전 8일 오후 재개
In August, Japan removed a statue that represents the victims of Japan's wartime sexual slavery from its biggest international art festival.... following orders handed down by Japanese officials.
Sixty-five days have passed since its removal, but from today, the statue is back in... and will stay there until the festival wraps up next Monday.
Won Jung-hwan reports.
Following threats from ultra-right Japanese protesters and pressure from the Japanese government,… the comfort women statue at the 2019 ( ) Aichi Triennale international contemporary art festival was pulled out just three days after the festival's opening.
But the exhibition starring the statue will resume from Tuesday and run through the end of the festival on October 14th.
The agreement to return the statue came during a hearing at the Nagoya District Court, held as part of mediation after a demand was filed in mid-September,… seeking a court injunction to reopen the collection.
Aichi Governor ( ) Hideaki Omura, who is also the chairman of the festival's organizing committee, agreed to four conditions as necessary for the reopening.
They include cooperating with security measures, implementing a pre-reservation system and limiting visitors to 30 people per time slot.
The exhibition will also need to provide visitors with an interim report on the background explaining the closure of the art show.
Upon hearing the news, Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura criticized the agreement,… saying it was outrageous to showcase political works at an art festival hosted by the city and other public entities.
The mayor previously sparked outrage when he demanded the exhibition be shut down, arguing the statue could give the impression that Japan accepted South Korea's claim that the women were forcibly taken by the Japanese military during the war.
Ironically, two weeks ago, Japan's Cultural Affairs Agency withdrew a grant for the festival worth approximately 720-thousand U.S. dollars,… saying the Aichi government had failed to provide necessary information when applying for the subsidy.
The back and forth over the comfort women statue has been a sticking point in South Korea-Japan relations,... which have recently deteriorated to a low not seen in years due to disputes over trade and compensation for wartime forced labor.
