Located in a luxury and secured private residential development on the hillsides of Surin Beach, on the West coast of Phuket, this spacious and luxurious villa has panoramic sea views over the Andaman sea on two sides. There is a beautiful infinity pool with water bar, outdoor dining area, a typical Thai Sala and sun loungers by the pool. The villa can comfortably accommodate up to 8 adults and 4 children in luxury, fully air-conditioned surroundings. It is two minutes drive from Surin beach, as well as close to many restaurants and shops, and 20 minutes from the Laguna golf-course.
The villa has four staff, comprising a cook, two maids and a maintenance man. Airport transfer on arrival and departure is free. Car hire can be arranged, with or without driver.
The dining room has seating for twelve, and has magnificent panoramic views over Bangtao Bay, with french windows opening to the pool terrace, and there is a fully fitted and equipped european kitchen. The house is fully air-conditioned, and in addition all the rooms have large efficient ceiling fans.
The living room has a large screen cinema system with a varied selection of DVD films, and satellite TV. Free broadband wifi internet. There are comfortable sofas, both in the living room and outside on the covered terrace looking over the pool and view of the Andaman Sea.
There are four large and luxurious bedroom suites, all with super-king size beds and separate seating areas. Each bedroom has it's own private terrace, walk in wardrobe, and spacious bathroom suite. Three of the bedrooms have outdoor jacuzzis, and one has an outdoor bath.
The very large family room -- which is the fifth bedroom, has comfortable sofas, and a large flat screen TV, (with a good selection of children's film DVDs, toys, books, and satellite TV) There is a queen size bed, as well as two single beds and a cot. One of the sofas converts to a comfortable double bed.
The bedrooms therefore sleep five couples and at least four children comfortably. Each bedroom also has one or two day beds, as part of the suite, which can easily be used as extra single beds, either for children or adults. All bedlinen and towels are provided, as well as laundry service. There is a safe for use of guests.

The old Phuket town area, especially Soi Rommanee reflects the historical value and locality of Phuket. They are reflected through the architectural style and way of life which residents try to preserve. Our special report shows more detail:
These old attractive shop houses located along side the Soi Rommanee in the heart of the old town part in Phuket city perfectly reflect the ancient value in terms of lifestyle, culture and character of Phuket. They are much appreciated by visitors. Most of the old buildings here are refurbished and repainted making them more lively, but at the same time maintain the identity of the local charisma.
Some have been decorated in contemporary style, blending the much valued old to the modern lifestyles. Some are opened up as restaurants, or bars with music. One extraordinary idea shown here is by local cultural collector & lawyer Puchong Tirawat, who opened one of the old shop houses, no.14, into his Glastnost bar for law & entertainment four years ago. He explained to us his original intention as a place for professional meetings and pleasure:

Visiting the bar, one is not only amazed by the old objects he collected and kept very well, but old traditional coffee and tea are served to let visitors experience the genuine feeling of Phuket. He intends to keep the traditional cultural values alive.
This coincides with the Office of Phuket Citys policy & management boosting the old town area as part of historical routes in the city. To promote local tourism in the city area, the Office of Phuket City is currently carrying out work to put electricity cables underground for better scenery. The work commenced on May 15th and expects to be completed by November this year. The project costs over 19.2 million baht. Its a cooperation between the Office of Phuket City, the provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand and Telephone Organization of Thailand.
The glamorous past and todays peaceful life style are perfectly harmonized in this little lane, Soi Rommani, which connects Thalang and Dibuk roads together. The Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwansuppana explains that she is promoting the Old Phuket town area to be more like an open air museum where visitors or younger generation can take a stroll and learn or feel the locality.

Today we are working on how to turn Thalang Road, Soi Rommani, Yaowarat, Phuket and Dibuk roads to be like open air museums. Thats what we would like to see. I wish to see tourists stroll along to appreciate our city instead of using cars. Ive tried myself and I did feel the locality charisma of the old town area. The area itself tells the roots of Phuket.

We spent one day searching for the best things to do in Phuket Thailand! Although we were surprised to find live sex shows on Bangla Road, we can highly recommend the area for a dose of crazy Phuket nightlife. Our favorite things to do in Phuket Thailand were exploring the beautiful Phuket Old Town and catching an amazing sunset on the world renowned Kata Beach.

Spend your morning exploring Phuket Old Town with a latte in hand as old town is home to a wide variety of hip cafes and coffee shops. Walk around Phuket Old Town’s colorful and historic streets while snapping some of the best instagram photos of your trip. There is also a ton of street art that you shouldn’t miss while exploring Phuket.
Next stop is to visit what has been called the best beach in Thailand by many travelers, sun lovers, and beginner surfers alike. Unlike it’s neighbors Karon Beach and Patong Beach, Kata Beach is a little less crowded while still offering great Phuket attractions like parasailing, surfing and sun bathing. After an afternoon of soaking in the sun, this Southern Thailand beach is particularly great for watching the sunset light up the sky with pink and purple hues. The sun sets right beside a limestone rock formation making this a must-see sunset destination while exploring Phuket.
Last but certainly not least we recommend soaking in a one of a kind Patong nightlife experience by walking on Bangla Road. Also called Patong Walking Street, live sex on Bangla Road is a popular Phuket attraction that we stayed as far away from as possible. There are promoters lining the streets inviting you to watch the best ping pong show, which is something we can’t even fathom. If you decide to partake in this part of Thailand’s dark nightlife, more power to you, but either way it’s something you just can’t miss. You’ll be happy to have went to Patong Beach and said “I did it”… and you’ll have a lifelong story to tell, especially if it’s your first time in Thailand!

Kathu Tin Mining Museum is an important and magnificent place of Phuket, where people can come for a visit and learn about Phuket's historical mining.
Kathu Mining Museum is located on Kathu district area, near Loch Palm golf course on the Kathu - Ko Kaeo road, in Phuket. The museum was established in 1999 but became tangible in 2006 and was then finished in 2008. The museum building was designed with Shino Portuguese style buildings with a large courtyard in the middle and windows decorated with stucco designs and old style arches.
Valuables and heritage remaining from the past are being displayed inside a room called the Secret Pearl of Andaman'. Collections of jewelry such as Blue Sapphire, Topaz and precious stones, beads, jades and ancient combs made from Jamree or bull horns, coins and money from the past, are also on display such as 'Deebuk' coins, and Thai plus other currencies.
Exhibitions of various types of mines are another important part of the museum. This part is called 'Mining Life', showing different types of mine techniques such as Ground Sluicing a technique used for residual deposit sites or hillsides using human power; and
Hydraulic Mining type which is an open pit mining technique and also a significantly cheaper to operate;
plus 'Openeast or open-cut mining' which was a surface mining technique used for placer deposits located in the nearby hillsides;
'gravel pumping' or opened pit mining operated by injecting water to break the surface soil;
and 'dredging' which was a mining operation suitable for a big deposit that has been surveyed for its abundant supply.
The 'Tin Processing' room plays an important part in giving students a feel of the old mining era and is also a laboratory room to teach kids about the processing of tin industrialization. Other than tin mining and development of the process, the exhibition rooms such as 'the journey of Chinese merchants' illustrating Chinese people immigrating to find good hope in Phuket island. They sailed and lived their lives while traveling for many days, months or years on the boat.
Another show-stopping exhibition room is 'the legend of old city in Kathu'
showing Chinese operas, shadow plays, boutiques, old Chinese style pharmacies and Kathu peoples old style houses, presenting the Chinese way of life and their culture back in the old days.
Wax models of Ba-Ba Hokkien or mixed Thai Chinese families present traditional weddings in houses and paintings of the old days on the walls create a unique and ancient feel to this museum.
Arunrath Sinpetch, a technocrat/curator, of Kathu Mining Museum talked to Andaman News about the interesting aspects and how it is different from other museums:
The approximate number of visitors is not less than 200,000 people per year even though the museum is not fully operating yet. This place is a long life education resource. It is a learning institute of Phuket where people come in to learn more about historical mining. Tourists from Phuket and other provinces were also paying a visit to the museum.
Our museum is called a live museum, where tourists, students and visitors can participate while having a tour inside the museum. This museum is very different from other museums; we are showing the real side of science and demonstrations. I strongly believe that tourists or students will definitely learn important information from our museum.
The museum not only shows how historical Phuket's mining has developed and faded away but also illustrates the traditional lifestyle of Thai and Chinese people back in the old times and reminds us all that culture and custom are not easily forgotten by the Phuket people. Phuket beach police get peddle power
Phuket's police officers are heading to the beach, and they'll be getting there on 384,000 baht worth of high-tech mountain bikes, with all the kit generously donated by ThaiBev.
The first mounted policemen hit the sands of Kamala and Karon last year just before the Asian Beach Games. The generosity of ThaiBev has now made it possible for Phuket's police to better patrol the island's top natural attractions.

It is not known when Wat Chalong was first built, but records show it was rebuilt and relocated in 1837. There is evidence of the early temple -- the remains of a wall -- on site. In 1876 Chalong was home to the Ang Yee rebellion, during which migrant Chinese tin mine workers rioted across Phuket to protest working conditions
Wat Chalong is officially called Wat Chaitararam by royal decree but not many people use that name. Located in the northern part of Tambol Chalong ( tambol means sub district in Thailand) on Chao Fa West Rd, the Wat is close to many local attractions. The name Chalong means festival in Thai - many years ago the area was named Chalang after locals, fearing Burmese invaders, had moved from Thalang district. However, the Thai government pointed out that no such word existed in the Thai language and ordered local officials to change the name.
There are six buildings at Wat Chalong: the Sala, the Mondop, the Ubosot, the Viharn, the Chedi and the Crematorium.
The statue of Luang Por Chaem can be found in the Mondop, where offerings are given.
The Chedi is the main building at 61 meters high. It contains paintings of Buddha's life and his teachings, and at the top there is a display which contains a relic -- a fragment of the Buddha's bone, which was brought to the temple from Sri Lanka in 1999.
Poh Than Jao Wat is one of the more important Buddhist statues in Wat Chalong. It is located in the westerly old hall of the temple, with two statues of an elderly gentleman called Ta Khee-lek ( grandpa Khee-lek ), a famous local who won many lotteries after consulting the Poh Than Jao Wat statue. Another statue in this hall is called Nonsi. One of the temple's halls features a gilt-covered statue of Luang Poh Cham and this busy hall also contains statues of Luang Poh Chuang and Luang Poh Gleum, all ex-abbots of the temple.
The Ubosot is surrounded by eight boundary stones because it is not open to the public. It is the monks' sanctuary, where they are ordained and where items such as Luang Por Chaem's walking stick are kept safe
Wat Chalong is Phuket's most important Buddhist temple and is the biggest and most ornate of Phuket's 29 Buddhist monasteries. The architecture is typical of Wat's found throughout Thailand. Wat Chalong is associated with the revered monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, both of whom were famous for there work in herbal medicine and tending to the injured. During the tin miners' rebellion of 1876 they mobilized aid for the injured on both sides. They also mediated in the rebellion, bringing the warring parties together to resolve their dispute. Statues honouring them stand in the sermon hall (Viharn). Many Thais come here to be blessed by the monks and receive a good luck charm in the form of a string tied around the wrist, which they believe protects them from injury and illness.
As with many temples, Wat Chalong is visually dazzling. The murals on the temple's walls are particularly interesting. In the temple's viharn are statues of two monks - Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang. The monks were associated with the temple and they did great works treating the areas sick and injured with herbal medicine. They also played a role in ending the tin miners' rebellion of 1876. Many locals believe these two monks to have supernatural powers and come to the temple to pray to their images and receive their blessing. Many people come to the temple to learn about their future. You can have your fortune told by the Mor Doo ( fortune teller ) and you can learn about your future from a set of bamboo sticks. Each of the sticks have a number. Shake the sticks in a container and eventually one will come out. That number corresponds with a printed outline of future events. Unfortunately, these predictions are in Thai so you will need a translation. It's still good fun though! The temple also houses pairs of wooden blocks made that are intended to help people make important decisions -- ask your question and throw the blocks, how they land indicates the answer ( if they show the same side the answer is yes ).
