The Russian Navy’s second Project 885-M Yasen M-class multipurpose nuclear-powered attack submarine Novosibirsk was launched and put to water on December 25th.
An official ceremony was held in the Semash shipyard.
Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov stated, “The strategic and multipurpose nuclear submarines that the Navy is equipped with embody the best scientific achievements in the field of domestic submarine shipbuilding.”
In his speech, the commander of the White Sea Naval Base, Konstantin Kabantsov, emphasized that “Novosibirsk is a modern warship that meets all the requirements and has unique combat capabilities. The ships of this series are capable of solving a wide range of tasks to defeat underwater, surface and ground targets.
“Novosibirsk” was laid down in July 2013 and is expected to enter service by the end of 2020.
Yasen is one submarine class that the U.S military was concerned about.
Some time back U.S.Navy’s top submarine officers, Rear Admiral Dave Johnson stated,
We’ll be facing tough potential opponents. One only has to look at the Severodvinsk, [first vessel of Yasen class], Russia’s version of a nuclear guided missile submarine (SSGN).” He was so impressed with this ship that he had built a model from unclassified data so that he could look at it every day on his way to his office”.

Russia - Surgery performed while body is frozen

A research institute in Russia says it has saved thousands of children by performing heart and brain surgery while their bodies are chilled to near freezing, avoiding the need for traditional anaesthetics. For almost 40 years the Institute of Circulation Pathology in the remote Siberian capital of Novosibirsk has been practicing the so called Siberian Method or hypothermia. Doctors in Novosibirsk believe their method is unique.
During operations using the method, the patient's body temperature is lowered to 24C, which is more than 13C lower than normal. All physical functions of the patient's body, including the brain, grind to a halt.
After about 70 minutes of extra-low temperature the body is brought back to normal circulation without any visible damage. According to the director of the Institute, Elena Litasova, this method gives the unique opportunity to conduct operations on heart and brain while all blood vessels are perfectly visible.

Novosibirsk - Uncrowned Capital of Siberia
The city was founded in 1893 owing to the construction of the Great Trans-Siberian Railroad and in the beginning was named Novonikolaevsk, and was renamed Novosibirsk only in 1926.
Novosibirsk is the geographical center of Russia (the distance to the western Russian border is the same as the distance to the eastern one). The crossroads of the major transport routes proved to be an advantageous location, which promoted rapid growth of the city- which is sometimes called Siberian Chicago, because of its phenomenal growth rate. Among all the big cities, Novosibirsk has the fastest growth rate; it reached a million population mark in less than 70 years (Chicago - in 90 years, New York - in 250, Moscow - in more than 700 years!). Nowadays it's a third largest city of Russia (after Moscow and St. Petersburg) both by population and area and is often called «Uncrowned capital of Siberia»!

Rostov on Don is a main port city of Sea of Azov in Russia. The city is known for its agricultural productions and trades. This city is a vital player in the national GDP and economy of Russia. It lies in the southeastern part of the East European Plain on the Don River, 32 kilometers from the Sea of Azov. it’s southern Russia’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. TRANSPORT
Rostov-on-Don is a major transport center. Some refer to it as the gateway to the Caucasus. The Rostov-on-Don Airport caters for domestic travel, as well as flights to and from the Europe, Africa and Asia. The main railway stations in Rostov-on-Don are Rostov-Glavny and Rostov-Prigorodny. With the construction of the Volga-Don Shipping Canal in 1952, Rostov-on-Don became a port of five seas: the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, the Caspian Sea, the White Sea, and the Baltic Sea.

Rostov's favorable geographical position at trading crossroads promotes economic development. The Don River is a major shipping lane connecting southwestern Russia with the north. Rostov-on-Don is a trading port for Russian, Italian, Greek and Turkish merchants selling, for example, wool, wheat and oil. It is also an important river port for passengers. The Rostov-on-Don agricultural region produces one-third of Russia's vegetable oil from sunflowers. Rostov-on-Don is a center for helicopter and farm machinery manufacturing.
SPORTS:
In 2018, Rostov-on-Don will be one of the Russian cities to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Rostov Arena with a capacity of 45,000 spectators built on the left bank of the Don River, left of the exit from the city via the Voroshilovsky Bridge. The stadium will host 5 games of the FIFA World Cup.

Siberian White Cube goes ART Cologne 2012
The ART Cologne invited the artists Lukas Pusch and Konstantin Skotnikov with their White Cube Gallery Novosibirsk to join the artfair 2012.
Before starting the journey they had to free the Gallery and their soviet truck ZIL 130 from the frozen Siberian soil.

It is recognized as one of the city's landmarks due to the rich and varied architecture of its 194 stations.
Over time, Moscow has acquired a number of epithets, most referring to its size and preeminent status within the nation: The Third Rome , The Whitestone One, The First Throne, The Forty Forties (Сорок Сороков), and The Hero City. In old Russian the word Сорок (forty) also meant a church administrative district, which consisted of about forty churches. The demonym for a Moscow resident is (moskvich), rendered in English as Muscovite.

BEAUTIFUL MOSCOW - TSARITSYNO PARK IN THE SOUTH OF MOSCOW
The estate is known from the late 16th century, when it belonged to Tsaritsa Irina, sister of Tsar Boris Godunov. At that time it was called Bogorodskoye. In the 17th century it belonged to the Streshnevs and then to the Galitzines.

In 1775, the estate was bought by empress Catherine the Great, who happened to be passing through the area and fell in love with the picturesque beauty of the land. It received its present name, which means “Tsaritsa’s”.
In 1776-85 architect Vasili Bazhenov built a palace for the Empress there. When the palace was almost complete, the Empress visited Tsaritsyno to inspect it. She declared the rooms to be too cramped and dark, and the palace unlivable. As a result, Catherine ordered the palace to be torn down. The remnants of the foundation of Bazhenov's original palace are still visible in the park.
Palace front
In 1786, Matvey Kazakov presented new architectural plans, which were approved by Catherine. Kazakov supervised the construction project until 1796 when the construction was interrupted by Catherine's death. Her successor, Emperor Paul I of Russia showed no interest in the palace and the massive structure remained unfinished and abandoned for more than 200 years, until it was completed and extensively reworked in 2005-07.
Currently, in Tsaritsyno there are a history and architecture museum, a landscape park with an adjacent forest, an art museum, the Biryulyovo dendropark, and a cascade of the Tsaritsyno ponds. It is managed by the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, founded in 1984.
Park
Bazhenov's Opera House, 1776–1778
The 18th-century architecture ensemble was built (though not finished) following the order of Catherine II in Neo-Gothic style, after projects of the Bazhenov and Kazakov, and it is the only 18th-century architectural ensemble of such dimensions in Russia.
Around the palace, in the park there are a number of pavilions, pergolas, arbours, artificial grottos, decorative bridges (early 19th century, architect I. Yegotov), and a Russian Orthodox temple “Source of Life”, as well as a modern recreation center with an upscale restaurant. For a long time most buildings were ruined (and used for rock climbing). In 2005-2007 most buildings were extensively restored and completed: roofs, interiors and decorations have been added and their historical appearance has been altered. A number of buildings house the Russian museum of folk and applied art. The atrium of the “Bread House” is used for concerts of Moscow musicians.
The park grounds contain a group of burial mounds (Kurgans) that belong to the Early Slavs tribe Vyatichs dated to the 11th-13th century.
