Hiking Yosemite Half Dome
From 7/9 to 7/19/2014 10 days trip to California’s Sierra Nevada MT range Hiking three Mountains: Yosemite Half Dome, MT Whitney - the highest MT in the 48 states, and MT Tallac, the tallest peak in Lake Tahoe. Also visiting Sequoia, King Canyon National Park and Lake Tahoe on the way. On the trip I lost 7 lbs, I only took two showers and 3 hot meals, and slept on the campgrounds. At Yosemite, I spent two nights sleeping in the rental car, and on the first day hiked Half Dome. 22 miles hiked in one day; same as MT Whitney.
At Whitney Portal camp I met a black bear, he did not eat my food, but instead most of my food was stolen by someone else. Without food, I still manage to hike MT Whitney. At the summit, I asked someone for a piece of bread because I was too hungry. MT Whitney was quite a challenging one. From 700am to 330pm I reached the summit, until 930 pm I made it back to the campsite. The last two miles I was walking in the dark.
Another experience was my rental car got a flat tire in the middle of no where. There is a small town called Kerrville 10 miles away at Sierra way. I waved my hand to ask for someone’s help. They took me back to Kerrville so I can use my cell phone to call my rental car company, Hertz for road side assistance. They towed twice, one from Kerrville to Isabella then Bakersfield to exchange for another car. I drove all the way back to Kerrville from Bakersfield and stayed in the campground for a night.
The all hardship was worth it, the beauty of Yosemite Half Dome, Glacier Point trail, Olmsted view point, the Giant Sequoia trees, nice sceneries in Kerr river Sequoia National Park, King Canyon, and the magnificent Lake Tahoe.
