Sikander Bagh Lucknow Built in Memory of Queen Sikander Mahal
Sikander Bagh has been named after the queen of the last ruler of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah. Spread over an area of 50 square metres in the National Botanical Research Institute, the park was one of the venues of the Revolt of 1857.
In a pavilion located in its centre, performances of classical as well as folk artists are organised. A popular recreation site, the park was built in 1800 AD, during the reign of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan.
This walled garden was created by Wajid Ali Shah, the last nawab, for his favourite queen, Sikandar Mahal. The splendid gateway, the tiny mosque and part of the wall are original. Hundreds died here in a pitched battle between Indian 'mutineers' and a British and Indian relief force during the Siege of Lucknow. The main gate is locked, but the small side gate is usually open.

Sikandra Bagh
The souls of 2300 people who were killed here still haunt this place.
Sikandara Bagh played an important role during the Indian Independence and it has seen its own share of brutality. It is believed that 72 Britishers killed 2300 Indians during the Independence movement. The bodies of 2300 dead Indians were left to rot in the open until they were eaten by the vultures. It is said that this building is haunted by the spirits of those innocent people who were brutally murdered here. Most locals complain about hearing creepy noises that they have no explanation for. Some also claim to have seen mysterious images that appear from nowhere and disappear into thin air.
