Reno is a city in the northwest section of the U.S. state of Nevada, approximately 22 miles (35 km) from Lake Tahoe, known as The Biggest Little City in the World.
Reno is known for its casino industry. Reno is the county seat of Washoe County and sits in a high desert river valley at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and its downtown area (along with Sparks) occupies a valley informally known as the Truckee Meadows. The city is named after Union Major General Jesse L. Reno, who was killed in action during the American Civil War at the Battle of South Mountain on Fox's Gap.
Reno, with an estimated population of 250,998 as of 2018, is part of Reno-Sparks metropolitan, 2nd most populous in Nevada after Las Vegas-Henderson, both of which are part of the Las Vegas Valley. Greater Reno which consists of Washoe, Storey, Lyon counties and Carson City (the capital of Nevada), is the second largest metropolitan area in Nevada.

Tous les parcs nationaux sont accessibles en achetant le pass America the Beautiful (80$). Les State Park sont par contre payants (env. 10$ par voiture) mais certains valent le détour! Le meilleur petit déjeuner de tout votre voyage, vous le trouverez surement au Holywood Café sur le Fisherman's Wharf! Pour Alcatraz, pensez a réserver en avance! Conseil : garez votre voiture dans un parking avec mention special price for early bird et arrivez avant 8h00. Direction le café puis a pied vers le Pier 33 pour Alcatraz.
Le Yosemite est un super parc qui mérite amplement que l'on s'y attarde! Faites au moins une grosse randonnée. Attention a ne pas sous estimer la difficulté, notamment la Upper Yosemite Fall qui surement a été une des plus difficiles de tout notre voyage. N'oubliez pas Glacier Point qui propose un point de vue panoramique sur toute la Yosemite Valley avec en arrière plan les chutes d'eau et le Half-Dome. Idem pour les déserts en été! 48c dans la Vallée de la Mort et 46c au fond du grand Canyon. Grand Canyon: en passant, évitez de faire comme nous si vous n’êtes pas de très grands randonneurs! Plateau point est une petite balade comparé a la descente vers Silver Bridge et Fanthom Ranch. On vous aura prévenu! Personnes sujettes aux vertiges : évitez le Angel's Landing Trail et la Shafer Canyon Road. Pour le reste, c'est que du bonheur !!! Amusez vous et surtout, profitez un maxxx!!

American Flat Mill, Nevada. (Part I)

Just west of Gold hill Nevada on State Route 341, lies American Flats; and the remains of the Comstock Merger Mines cyanide mill. Time and wind have reduced the mill to strangely beautiful skeletal remains.
The crumbling reinforced concrete monoliths (there are eight of them), rise out of the desert like post-apocalyptic temples, whose clandestine devotees leave cryptic messages and painted images as offerings to the silent, long dead gods. Some regard the ruins, complete with falling concrete, unprotected drop-offs, flooded tunnels and subterranean vaults a public hazard; others see it as an important piece of Comstock history.
Gold and silver mining began in American Flat after 1860 when the Comstock discoveries extended beyond the Gold Canyon ravine. By 1864 American City had become a town and its citizens tried to secure the territorial capital from Carson City. Promoters at American City offered $50,000 to the Nevada territorial government if it would relocate there. The Storey County papers backed the removal attempt, but the legislators rejected the offer. During 1864-66 American City was a thriving town with two large hotels amid other businesses, a post office and its own township officers. But the community never took root and by late 1867 American City was all but gone. In 1920, the United Comstock Mining Co. constructed a $1.5 million four-story cyanide mill of reinforced concrete on the site to process low-grade ores coming out of the Comstock Lode. Three years later the Comstock Merger Mines Inc. was formed to operate a group of Comstock mines in the middle of the lode and in 1923 acquired the mill when the United Comstock Mining Co. went out of business. A small company camp just below the mill included a store, houses, a post office and other buildings until December 1926, when the Merger Mines Company closed the mill because of the falling price of silver.
The building at American Flats has been the subject of much debate this past year. In December 2010, the Nevada Appeal reported that the BLM was moving forward with plans to demolish and reclaim the site; causing an outcry among those that would see the old buildings preserved. At present, the demolition is on hold until further studies to determine the sites' historic value can be conducted.
The remains at American Flats have been a gathering hole for dirt bikers, graffiti artists, paint ballers and partyers for decades. Although one of the arguments for its destruction is the danger, few injuries or fatalities have been reported in its 89 year history. According to an article in the Reno News and Review, soon after the 1922 operation began, at least one worker, Rodie Sheeke, was killed after an ore train failed to stop when it was supposed to and crushed him against an ore dump. In 1935, firefighter George Harris died while working a fire at American Flat. A quick internet search only produced only one mention of a more recent death; it seems someone tried to drive somewhere not meant for vehicles back in the 1990s.

It’s called the high incident project. They want to make the American public think that places with extremely high security aren’t say. They are trying to create more regulations. You will see laws proposed within the next few years to put up more metal detectors and other security devices. Media and politicians will be saying places with lots of police need even more police. If there plan a successful state of Nevada I will pass a law in the future making all casinos have mandatory metal detectors and backscatter machines. Soon after a federal law will be passed to put these machines and universities, high schools, federal buildings, you name it. OSI Systems and Chertoff are the main producers of these machines. Sometime around 2020, Chertoff and OSI will merge into a single company. After they merge the owners will sell off all their stock and make billions in profits. 1. In the summer of 1864, with the Civil War roiling the south and a big election only months away, Lincoln supporters across the country hustled to secure statehood for pro-Abe territories. Nevada started putting together its state constitution on July 4 and managed to safely submit it to Congress just under the early November deadline. When the copy they’d sent by land didn’t make the trip, California Telegraph Company top gun James Guild managed to telegraph the entire 16,543-word Nevada constitution out on October 26, Benjamin F. Shearer’s The Uniting States explains. Two days later, it reached Lincoln’s hands in time and could be duly proclaimed.
2. According to the United States Department of Energy (DOE), the Nevada National Security Site, formerly known as the Nevada Test Site, accommodated 928 atomic bomb tests between 1951 and 1992 [PDF], including many underground detonations and a series of simultaneous ones, for a grand total of 1021 detonations. Underground areas of the site have been used for nuclear tests in recent years, but its days of atomic detonations ended more than two decades ago. Of course, not before thousands of civilian and military “downwinders” were exposed to high levels of radiation

It has its own navy, space program, bank, post office, and measurement system, among other features.
5. Nevada is also one of seven U.S. states with no individual income tax. It doesn't collect corporate income tax, either. It does collect sales taxes, similar to VAT.
6. The state takes it name from the Sierra Nevada mountain range: sierra nevada is Spanish for snowy mountains. As one of the most mountainous states in the country, Nevada's peaks have snow throughout much of the year. But it's also the driest state in the country, with an average rainfall of around 9.5 inches. Nevada is the country’s seventh-biggest state at 70,264,320 acres. However, the U.S. government owns 56,961,778 acres of that, according to a 2012 report by the Congressional Research Service, or around 81 percent of Nevada’s total area. The non-federally owned part of Nevada is actually smaller than West Virginia.
7. The largest and one of the most well known cities in the world is, of course, Las Vegas (which is not the capital, by the way; that honour goes to Carson City). Las Vegas, located in the Mojave Desert, is known as the entertainment capital of the world, often called Sin City. Let’s just face it: it’s the city of gambling. Or is it? You know all those hotels, casinos and fancy shops? The ones that are on the famous Las Vegas Strip. Well, those aren’t in Las Vegas. They’re in the neighbor city of Paradise.

In this journey, Vlog 032 we drove 2.5 hours outside Las Vegas to Peach Springs, AZ. Located off the historic US Route 66 in Arizona. We had no expectation outside the ruins that were hand built by the tribe back in the 1800's. We ran across an abandoned hardware store, abandoned gas stations, and the crown jewel of the day was a NAPA Maintenance Shop that was trashed but totally cool to see!

Good morning, I’m still reporting on: Petition to Probe Vegas Shootings, 1823
Synopsis: Although new startling stories are still coming out as a result of the Oct., 1 Massacre in Las Vegas, the MSM has settled on the line that the shootings were the work of a single insane gunman.
I would love to believe this, as it would be so much simplier to move onto less horrific topics, but sometimes the truth is not that easy to deduce.
No, the truth keeps popping up in the most unusual places, as we’ll see with tomorrow morning’s shocker.
The truth is that the truth will never be uncovered when a strangely compliant media is ignoring standard crime reporters’ questions. How many guns were there? How many rounds were shot by the supposed shooter? How many shell casings were in the room?
These are simple, standard questions that the public has expected in the past to be made available in short order. There is no investigational reason to not ask these questions, nor answer them forthwith – unless the revealed something which puts the lie to the MSM party line – that there was only one shooter at one location.
At this point, there is only one way to put this to rest, and that is a totally transparent Congressional investigation into this matter. Therefore, we have posted a Whitehouse.gov petition entitled “Investigate the October 1st Mass Shooting in Las Vegas”. “The October 1st mass shooting event in Las Vegas has shocked the nation, but we, the people, have lost significant trust in the FBI to honestly investigate this event.
“For example, the Clark County, Nevada Sheriff, Joe Lombardo, said in an Oct. 4th news conference that shooter Steven Paddock could not have acted alone; he left no suicide note; he wanted to escape and he had an escape plan.
“Photos taken inside Paddock's room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel show fewer than 100 shell casings, yet, perhaps as many 2,000 shots may have been fired. Yet, the media now insists he was the lone shooter.
“The public does not know what to believe and only a fully-transparent, bi-partisan investigation by Congress can decide truth from fiction and determine who was involved and why.”

LAS VEGAS HOTEL CASINO'S are now ACCEPTING BITCOIN as a Form Of Payment
Two casinos in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada will become the first establishments of their kind to accept bitcoin as currency.
Effective Wednesday, customers of both The D and the Golden Gate casinos on Sin City's famed Freemont Street will be able to spend bitcoins to buy goods and services.
Neither facility will accept bets being made with the emerging digital 'cryptocurrency' in lieu of fiat money, but will allow visitors to conduct transactions using bitcoin at certain casino-run businesses on site. The front desks at both the Golden Gate and The D hotels will accept bitcoin, as will select gift shops and eateries inside the buildings, totaling five in all.
Vegas proprietor Derek Stevens, a co-owner of both casinos, said he considered bringing bitcoin into the gaming business after the issue was brought up by a number of customers recently.
Stevens added that the establishments will rely on the popular BitPay service to process transactions using tablets and other mobile devices installed at each cashier station. Six percent of all bitcoin transactions in the world were being processed through BitPay as of November, and the system is currently being used by internet businesses in more than 200 countries.
Bitcoin itself has been around for almost five years, but has recently surged in popularity. Both the online retailer Overstock.com and Sacramento, California's professional basketball team, the Kings, said they would start accepting bitcoin earlier this month. The online-only cash alternative can also be used to pay for college tuition or, in at least one case, the salary for a town's chief of police.
We recently picked up some business in the US and the fact that we will accept bitcoins might put us in the frame for more business opportunities, Harold Solomons of the Dublin-based online agency Matrix Internet told reporters at Silicone Republic on Tuesday. We're putting the time in now in order to develop it. One of our clients in Ireland owns a casino and we're talking about the potential of the casino accepting bitcoin payments, for example. Meanwhile, though, customers at Steven's casinos will be limited to using bitcoins for booking hotel rooms and ordering dinner - not making bets.
Bitcoin Falls Flat Among Davos Crowd
The cybercurrency, which is supposed to make money transfers across the globe easier, is barely on the radar of those gathered at the World Economic Forum this week.

Bitcoin has garnered very little attention of the world's political and financial elite gathered here for the World Economic Forum (WEF) — a seemingly golden opportunity for Bitcoin cheerleaders the Winklevoss twins and the handful of hedge funds that have invested in the currency to spread the word on its global reach and ability to transcend monetary borders.
The little attention given to Bitcoin hasn't been at all favorable, either. U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said he was incredulous about the cybercurrency on Thursday, the same day JP Morgan Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon called it a terrible store of value.
And on a panel Friday, Nobel laureate economist Robert Shiller called Bitcoin an amazing example of a bubble.
Noticeably absent from the WEF were Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who have addressed the financial elite before on their strong belief in Bitcoin's legitimacy as a truly global currency.
