Rocky Mountain National Park | Hike Sky Pond | Camp Estes Park Colorado
Rocky Mountain National Park was the focus of this trip. We began our trip by driving from Little Rock, Arkansas to Boulder, Colorado. There we picked up food for the weekend at Trader Joe’s. Once done there we drove on to Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park, Colorado. The next morning we had a quick breakfast before heading to Rocky Mountain National Park. There we drove to hike at a trail that we have done once before, and really wanted to experience the amazing trial again. That trail is the Sky Pond Trail. It is such an amazing place. After we finished the Sky Pond Trial in Rocky Mountain National Park, we drove back to Mary’s Lake Campground in Estes Park. There we cleaned up before driving to Boulder, Colorado to hang out on Pearl Street. For dinner, we had an amazing meal at The Post Brewing. The next morning we cooked pancakes for breakfast. After that, we left for downtown Estes Park to do a little shopping. After a short time there, we drove back to Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove up the Old Fall River Road to the Alpine Visitor Center. We spent some time touring the area then left to drive the rest of Trail Ridge Road. We then left the park thinking we were going to explore some of the National Forest in the area. However, we ended up driving to the Wild Basin Entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park. We were not aware that when we turned down this dirt road that it would be another area of the National Park that is not as well known. We found a great place on the St. Vrain Creek to put up some hammocks and relax. We left there to go back to Mary’s Lake Campground to cook dinner. The next morning packed up camp, and drove to Boulder, Colorado where we had breakfast at Tangerine.
Hike to Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park on 7/26/2016
On 7/26/2016 I took the 5 hour, round trip hike to Sky Pond from Glacier Gorge Trailhead. I left early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the views and the fishing were both spectacular! The climb up the waterfalls to Glass Lake was a good experience and a bit more difficult than I had planned on. Easily doable if you take your time. I caught Brookies in Sky Pond and Greenbacks in Icy Brook. I will do this hike again soon!
Rocky Mountain National Park Bear Lake Sky Pond Hikes Estes Park, CO
Estes Park, Colorado--- This was our hike, called Bear Lake, the campground shown is Aspenglen Campground, located in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The later part of the video when we are hiking is our hike up to The Lock, Lake of Glass, Alberta Falls, and then finally getting up to Sky Pond. INCREDIBLE views and a experience with nature like no other! There is no other mountain community/mountain area that beats this place....You have to go!
Best Hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park
There are so many beautiful hiking trails in the Rocky Mountain National Park, it’s hard to pick just one. So, we took the advice of locals working at an outdoor shop in the nearby town of Estes Park and chose the path to Sky Pond. The hike was just difficult enough that I felt like I got a great workout, but not so hard that I couldn’t do it.
Along the way stops included a photo op a the 30-foot Alberta Falls, walk around the Loch Vale, hike up to the larger Timberline Falls, stroll around Glass Lake, and lunch at Sky Pond.

Sky Pond Hike 4k
Saturday June 25, 2016 I led a group of photo hikers on a hike to Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park. This was one of the most beautiful, rewarding, and special hikes I have organized, and led! Not only was this an absolutely stunning, and beautiful place to explore, but, the people I hiked with made this hike so special! We all connected very easily, just enjoying the moments, and the beauty of the area! Several of those I hiked with were from out of state, or from out of country. It was so nice to see them enjoying, and experiencing the beauty of this place, as well as being able to capture it on camera! Music "Beautiful Day" by Bon Jovi

Hiking - Sky Pond, CO - Rocky Mountain National Park
A short video and some pictures from the Sky Pond trail in RMNP. The round trip distance was about 9 miles with an elevation gain of 1800 ft and a high elevation of 11,000 feet. The weather was great for the first half of the hike, but turned to snow and sleet and high winds near the top of the mountain.

Emerald Lake Trail - Rocky Mountain National Park
If you have ever wanted to visit Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, consider it's number #1 rated easy-moderate hike, the Emerald Lake Trail. Under 4 miles round trip and you pass 4 breathtaking alpine lakes on the hike. One of my favorite easy trails in the entire parks system.
These are 3 things that everyone OBVIOUSLY needs to consider before just driving out to do a hike. There are MANY other considerations to be made, but these 3 will at least get you started. These clips are from some gopro ramblings when I spent a week exploring Rocky Mountain National Park earlier this June.

Cub Lake Hike , Rocky Mountain National Park, CO, USA
The Rocky Mountain National Park is located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado, USA, close to the community of Estes Park. From Estes Park, the Rocky Mountain National Park Headquarters at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center is a 6km drive to the west on Route 36. From there, the junction to Bear Lake Road is a further 2 km along Route 36 on the left side, and after a 1 km drive along the scenic Bear Lake Road, a small spur road to the right leads to the Cub Lake Trailhead.
The Cub Lake Trailhead is at 2450 m. above sea level, and the 3.7km. hike to Cub Lake only requires a 165 m. increase in elevation. The first section of the trail is level as it crosses the western edge of the Moraine Park grasslands. The trail then climbs steadily through aspen and conifer woodlands, and eventually emerges at an area of tall wind-swept grasses. Beyond, surface water lily plants encircle the shallows of Cub Lake ---- the cobalt-blue center of the lake is plant-free. Interestingly, a clear narrow band of lake water bisects the encircling band of lily plants. Though this circular band looks as if a speedboat had cut it, it is in fact a natural phenomenon.
Beyond Cub Lake, a downhill trail eventually meets the Big Thompson River at The Pool junction. From there, a slightly downhill hiking trail parallels the river back to the Cub Lake Trailhead for a total loop hike of about 10 km. Along this return trail, the path crosses several large landslide areas, and passes through immense tumbled boulders in the Arch Rocks area.
Photographing Dream Lake in Winter | Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
I decided to snowshoe up to Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado on this cold and WINDY February day after some fresh snowfall. It was absolutely beautiful! The size of the surrounding mountains, the snow whipping around everywhere, and the formations in the ice of Dream Lake were really special. In the end, I captured two images of ice patterns that I'm very happy with. Eventually, my batteries died a premature death and I had to head home. It was a good day!
