Yellowstone National Park
A day in Yellowstone National Park. July 15, 2013, with my son and my wife. Sure wish I had a week to spend in the park. 1 day was barely enough to drive the perimeter loop of the park, let alone actually see the interior and all it has to offer. Either way it was magnificent. I never thought I would see Yellowstone and now I have video of the experience.
Exploring Yellowstone National Park | Camping at Henry's Lake State Park
We decided to camp at Henry's Lake State Park campground instead of fighting the crowds at Yellowstone National Park. It was 17 miles from West Yellowstone with electric and water hookups (some sites had full hookups). The best part was the stellar cell phone reception so we were happy campers. It was a great base to explore both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park.
While there, we had a ton of rain and our first flat tire of the trip, so things didn't go exactly as planned but that's just how it goes. We still had an incredible time in the area and definitely want to go back!

Winter Wildlife in Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park has often been referred to as the serengeti of the United States, and for good reason. For me personally, winter is the most magical time of year in Yellowstone. It's the best time of year to see bobcats on the madison river, elk, elk rut, bison in snow, wolves, coyotes, fox, birds, e

Backpacking The Greater Yellowstone: Thorofare Creek/Yellowstone River Headwaters Full Video
This is a 6 day backpacking trip we did in Wyoming this past September. The trip was in both the Washakie and Teton Wilderness, and the Absaroka Mountains, which make up part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This area sits just outside the south east corner of Yellowstone National Park, and is one of the more remote areas in the lower 48 states. We did a loop from the South Fork of the Shoshone River, going up Ishawooa Creek to the pass, down Pass Creek, up Thorofare Creek, into both the north and south fork drainages of the Yellowstone River, over to Marston Pass, down some of the Buffalo Plateau, and then down Bliss Creek to the Shoshone River.
Some of the route was off trail. Some of the trails here don't show up in maps, and often times we used what I call outfitter trails, which are trails maintained by horse packers and hunting guides. There is a good variety of wildlife in this area, including grizzly bears, moose, bighorn sheep, elk, deer, black bears, and wolves. We saw a bunch of grizzly sign, but only one grizzly bear and one black bear. In past experiences I've seen numerous grizzly bears in this area and on exact parts of this route. We passed a wildfire which was kind of exciting. We also went during rifle hunting season for elk, which wasn't a great idea. We had been given wrong information about when rifle season started, otherwise we probably wouldn't have done this trip.
Yellowstone Cutthroat
An awesome day spent in the park fishing for cutthroat trout on the fly. We visited a river and a lake, involving two completely different types of fishing. Our first stop consisted of dry flies for rising trout, and next we sight fished for cruisers in clear water. Music by the Black Twig Pickers and Ryan Little
Yellowstone: Tower-Roosevelt to Cooke City
This section, through the Lamar Valley, is a hotbed of wildlife activity. From bears and elk to bison and wolves, this is your best chance to make visual contact with the residents of Yellowstone. With Slough Creek and the Lamar River, there are some great chances to make contact with a few fish as well.

Hiking the Thunderer, Yellowstone National Park
The Thunder mountain is in the northeast area of Yellowstone National Park. This day hike was done in August when the river was low enough to cross.
