Snagov Monastery, Romania. Vlad The Impaler's Possible Resting Place!
Is this Vlad the Impaler's final resting place?? This is Snagov Monastery, outside Bucharest, Romania. For centuries, it has been the rumoured resting place of Vlad The Impaler, or Vlad Tepes, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula and the Dracula Legend. Whether he is buried here or not, Snagov Monastery is a beautiful, peaceful place and a must-see if visiting Romania.

Snagov Monastery ... and Lake (Manastirea & Lacul Snagov) ... 25 miles north of Bucharest ... One hundred years after the church was built (1364), Vlad Tepes (Vlad Dracula) added the fortress walls and a dungeon. A plaque on the floor of the church marks the grave with the presumed remains of the count. The monastery, located on an island on the far side of the lake, can only be accessed by boat.

Snagov Monastery located on a small island of lake Snagov in Romania ,around 30 km from Bucharest , is allegedly the burial site of Vlad the Impaler also known as Count Dracula. His earthly remains ar in a tomb in front of the church altar.

Mânăstirea Snagov (Snagov monastery). Located on the only island on Snagov lake, the monastery is a very old religious site founded in the early 15th century. The location of the monastery is well known because it is believed to be the burial place of Vlad the Impaler, better known as the inspiration for Irish author Bram Stoker's character Dracula in his 1897 novel. The monastery once housed the coin minting facility of the medieval principality Wallachia and in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, one of the most important printing houses in South-Eastern Europe was located on the island. Snagov Monastery is NOT the grave of Vlad Dracula
Snagov Monastery is definately one that has tried to make money off of travelers who believe that Vlad Dracula was buried there. Facts from Excavations in 1933 along with proof in the Documents state that not one of his family members are buried there, this includes Vlad Dracula. Vlads family also did not build this church And only very few documents from Vlad's father, VLad Calugarul (who lived as a monk here for a short time) show they donated money to this church, but did not build it or buried any of their family here. Then there are many who visit there will tell you how currupt the woman who takes money is... Unless the monk is there to watch her... WE came across the new bridge and walked around and she came out and told us we need to give her 20 Euros (around 28 in usd just to take pictures. Then, if we wanted to see inside the church it would cost us 15 lei PER PERSON!. THis woman also cheated the couple in front of us claiming she had no change for them, yet when we paid this thief she had plenty of change because she saw me watching her. THis is a tourist trap of the finest stories told. But, Vlad had little to do with this church just as he did with Bran Caslte. THere are still no documents that state Vlad Dracula even donated to this church. The STORIES are for the tourists and the traditions are from those that do not know historical evidence shows Vlad did not have an underground tunnel and there was no torture chambers here!! THose are for the travelers who will fall for the stories told. Hopefully you will see this before you go there and get ripped off. The island is beautiful and does have alot to see, if you can afford the payments.
