A ride on Wyoming Highway 130 from WY-230 in the west; over the Snowy Range and the down the east side eventually making way through Centennial and on to Laramie, Wyoming. This video covers the ride up and over the mountains of the Snowy Range.
Snowy Range Scenic Byway
The Snowy Range Road, Hwy 130 from Laramie, Wyoming, to the Upper Platte River Valley, was designated the Second National Forest Scenic Byway in the United States. Begun in 1920, it took 6 years to complete and was called the Great Skyroad. The road takes you past Medicine Bow Peak, which at 12, 013 feet, the highest point in the Medicine Bow Forest. In this motion time-lapse video, you travel from Laramie to Saratoga, Wyoming - a distance of about 78 miles - in about 10 minutes.

The Snowy Range Scenic Byway through Medicine Bow National Forest, Wyoming is closed for about half of the year. When the pass opens for the first time after being closed all winter, we always take a drive to admire the snow banks!

Snowy Range Mountains Scenic Drive - 4x time-lapse
Snowy Range Scenic Byway follows WY-130 through the center of Medicine Bow National Forest. A high-altitude drive, it is an introduction to the mountainous West as it winds through the Rocky Mountains.
After crossing the pass and the small town of Centennial, it runs through vast expanse high-country prairie land until ending in Laramie, Wyoming.

Lake Marie - Wyoming
Wyoming's Snowy Range offers stunning views of beautiful mountainous terrain. The drive along Highway 130 is considered one of the country's most beautiful drives. The road trip reveals granite cliffs, alpine lakes and abundant wildlife. Lake Marie is located right off of the highway. The mountain behind the lake rises to 11,720 feet. Approximately 10 campsites and numerous trails allow for an exciting alpine adventure.

WYDOT crews work to clear Snowy Range Road
Crews from Laramie and Saratoga are trying to clear all snow off of the 68-mile stretch of Wyoming Highway 130 before the Memorial Day holiday, an effort that usually begins in mid-April, said WYDOT spokesman Matt Murphy.
