[TRIPofJHL] Visiting Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon
Locating in Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do, Songgwangsa is the famous Buddhist temple in Korea.
- With Yangsan Tongdosa and Hapcheon Haeinsa, this has been one of three major temples in Korea.
- This temple has many treasures and they maintain its own museum for exhibition.
This is the temple in nature. For upcoming Buddha's Birthday Ceremony, they were preparaing thousands of lanterns from the entrance. Songgangsa also has places with great sceneries which made this place as one of the most popular sites in Suncheon.

[TRIPofJHL] 순천시 조계산 송광사 방문…
전라남도 순천시 조계산 기슭에 위치한 송광사(曺溪山 大乘禪宗 松廣寺)는 대한민국의 유서깊은 불교사원이다.
- 부처님의 진신사리를 모신 양산 통도사를 불보사찰, 팔만대장경을 모신 합천 해인사를 법보사찰, 16국사를 배출한 송광사를 승보사찰이라 하여 '삼보사찰'로 부른다.
- 이 절에는 3대 명물이 있는데 일곱 가마 분량의 밥이 들어가는 '비사리 구시', 위아래로 포개도 신기하게 모두 짝이 들어맞는 그릇인 '능견난사', 보조국사와 7대 담당국사가 꽂은 지팡이에서 싹이 돋아 자랐다는 천자암의 '쌍향수'가 바로 그것이다.
- 다양한 보물들을 보유한 이곳은 자체 성보 박물관을 운영하며 방문객들에게도 관람을 허용하고 있다.
자연 속에 위치한 송광사는 부처님 오신 날을 맞아 입구부터 늘어선 수많은 연등들이 화려했으며, 삼청교, 우화각 등의 경관이 수려하여 오래 전부터 순천시의 명소로 자리잡았다.

I love traveling in Korea and in this episode I want to show you two cities in Jeollanam-do worth visiting. Take that bus or train and go experience the Korean countryside! Korea is much more than the concrete jungles of Seoul!

Korea Vlog #10 - Suncheon, Korea's Center of Industry & Agriculture
Sogang's student exchange program organized a field trip to tour a city outside of Seoul. Suncheon is a city outside of Seoul that is known for Suncheon Bay which is a wetland reserve. Suncheon also has beautiful gardens as well. Our program chose Suncheon because not many foreigners get to visit this area or partake in some cultural traditions. It was a nice getaway from the city. The specific places we visited was: Suncheon Bay National Garden, Songgwangsa, Seonamsa, and Nagan Eupseong Folk Village (Traditional Korean Village)

[TRIPofJHL] Visiting Geumdunsa Temple in Suncheon
Locating in Geumjeonsan Mountain, Suncheon-si, Geumdunsa Temple has been a quiet temple surrounded by beautiful rocky mountain. From late winter to early spring, this temple has bloomings of pretty local red Japanese Apricot Flowers. With its treasures such as the 3-storied stone tower and the standing stone Buddha, visiting this place would be a refreshment in nature.
There's a bus from Nagan Eupseong to here. It's very close enough to walk.

[TRIPofJHL] 순천 금둔사 방문…
전라남도 순천시 낙안면 금전산 자락에 위치한 금둔사는 바위산으로 둘러싸인 한국의 불교사원이다. 겨울부터 이른 봄까지 이 절에서는 토종 홍매화인 납월매가 아름답게 핀다. 3층석탑과 석조불상과 각틍 보물도 보유하고 있는 곳은 자연속에서 휴식을 취하기에도 좋은 곳이다.
낙안읍성에서 버스로 연결되어 있으나 그리 멀지 않아 충분히 걸어볼만한 거리이다.

Indeed, the unique value of the Haeinsa Temple and its many treasures has now been recognised by UNESCO who have designated it as a World Heritage Sight.The most precious treasure of the sanctuary is located in a special section of the complex. The Tripitaka Koreana is the largest, oldest and most well preserved collection of Buddhist text in the whole of East Asia and for several centuries its eighty thousand wooden printing plates have been stored in the temple complex. Traditional drum ceremonies play an important part in the daily life of Haeinsa’s religious community and it is more than likely that the resonance of the drums will always fill the most famous Buddhist sanctuary in South Korea with their historic sounds.
