South Bank London - Places to Visit in London - UK
Are you thinking about the places that you could go to in London? Do you want a good plan to depend on without regretting? Let us give you a small hint about London South Bank which you could definitely add now to your plan.
For those who don't know about the South Bank in London, South Bank is an entertainment and commercial district in central London, next to the River Thames and opposite to the city of Westminster, where people could actually go to experience the different types of art which they could come across there.
The South Bank actually forms a narrow strip of riverside land within the London Borough of Lambeth and the London Borough of Southwark. The name South Bank was firstly used back in 1952 during the Festival of Britain. The area of South Bank in London is home to different attractions and these include the County Hall Complex, the Sea Life London Aquarium ( the London Dungeon, Jubilee Gardens and the London Eye ( the Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall and the National Theatre (
This area in London has always been recognized as a place of entertainment and culture after the Festival of Britain first appeared back in 1951, and that's why it has been one tourist attraction in central London that calls out for people and visitors to come to the place and see what it has to offer them.
From the things that prove this place as an art and entertainment district are the different halls which are found there. The Southbank Centre is actually compromised of the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Hayward Gallery. There is also the Royal National Theatre in the area along with London IMAX super cinema and BFI Southbank, but which are not strictly considered part of the centre.
In this area there are different restaurants and cafes that one could enjoy having something to eat or drink at, and there is also the Marriott Hotel which took the place of the County Hall after it was not used anymore for that purpose. It is actually one nice and interesting place for people to have a walk through and even enjoy the graffiti and the art shows which are seen in the street while walking through them there; it is really an interesting trip to have and go through.
When it comes to London and all the different things and places that one could visit in this beautiful and historical city then you could keep counting because the suggestions will go further than what you might have expected. Covent Garden, Notting Hill, Mayfair London, Marylebone and lots of other destinations come directly when one mentions London and its suggested places.
Since we are talking about art and entertainment then there are other fun things to do and places to visit in London to enjoy some fun time with the rest of your family members. We have been to M&M's World before and enjoyed the different products that are found there from toys and clothes or even the sweets that they offer ( we have been to Shrek's Adventure Shop and also loved seeing the favorite characters displayed there ( and we have also visited the Sky Garden London at night to enjoy some time drinking and eating after the long day of touring the city (
South Bank is actually considered in the central of London because that what actually appears when one looks at it on a map. It is not formally defined, but South Bank is understood to be bounded by Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge, and to be centered approximately half a mile south-east of Charing Cross.
Opposite to the North Bank of the Thames River, the South Bank was slower to develop due to being waterlogged in winter, but it has been actually functioning as an entertainment district in its history for two times, interspersed by around a hundred years of wharfs, domestic industry and manufacturing being its dominant use. The restoration of the South Bank began in 1917 with the construction of County Hall at Lambeth, replacing the Lion Brewery, its Coade stone symbol was retained and placed on a pedestal at Westminster Bridge and is known as the South Bank Lion.
This is one of the places in London - central London - that is considered home to several things and that is one of the reasons why we always consider it from the important places that people should consider visiting while being there. South Bank in London will offer you lots of things, you should just go there and decide what exactly do you want to see and do.
Share with us your experience in London and South Bank if you have been there before and if not then place it on your list of places that you should visit.

London England ???????? walking south bank
South Bank London April 2019, Westminster Cathedral.
South Bank London April 2019. Westminster London. Westminster is an area in central London within the City of Westminster, part of the West End, on the north bank of the River Thames.[ Westminster's concentration of visitor attractions and historic landmarks, one of the highest in London, includes the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral. South Bank is an entertainment and commercial district in central London, next to the River Thames opposite the City of Westminster. It forms a narrow strip of riverside land within the London Borough of Lambeth (where it adjoins Albert Embankment) and the London Borough of Southwark, (where it adjoins Bankside). As such, South Bank may be regarded as somewhat akin to the riverside part of an area known previously as Lambeth Marsh and North Lambeth.
Historically the area lay within St Margaret's parish, City & Liberty of Westminster, Middlesex.
The name Westminster (Old English: Westmynstre)[2] originated from the informal description of the abbey church and royal peculiar of St Peter's (Westminster Abbey), literally West of the City of London (indeed, until the Reformation there was a reference to the 'East Minster' at Minories (Holy Trinity Priory, Aldgate) east of the City). The abbey was part of the royal palace that had been created here by Edward the Confessor. It has been the home of the permanent institutions of England's government continuously since about 1200 (High Middle Ages' Plantagenet times), and from 1707 the British Government — formally titled Her Majesty's Government.
In a government context, Westminster often refers to the Parliament of the United Kingdom, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Palace of Westminster — also known as the Houses of Parliament. The closest tube stations are Westminster and St James's Park, on the Jubilee, Circle, and District lines.
The area is the centre of Her Majesty's Government, with Parliament in the Palace of Westminster and most of the major Government ministries known as Whitehall, itself the site of the royal palace that replaced that at Westminster.
Within the area is Westminster School, a major public school which grew out of the Abbey, and the University of Westminster, attended by over 20,000 students. Bounding Westminster to the north is Green Park, a Royal Park of London.

Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring Southbank Centre Food Market. This street food market is located in Southbank Centre Square on Belvedere Road, behind the Royal Festival Hall.
Sights seen along the tour include a variety of stalls selling food and produce such as Indian vegetarian street food, pulled beef brisket, a wide range of curries, Polish barbecue including delicious looking hot dogs, paella cooked in huge pans, biriyani, kebabs, organic burgers, chutney, waffles, cookies, and chocolate covered fruit.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!

Start at Tower Bridge and follow the Queen's Way past City Hall, the Hays Gallery, HMS Belfast, London Bridge, Borough Market, Southwerk Cathedral, the Globe Theater, the Tate Modern Gallery, and the Millennium Footbridge. Cross the river and head to St. Paul's Cathedral. This leg of the walk is a little over 2 miles. If you are up to it, head for Trafalgar Square and all the interesting sights along the way. Altogether, its about eight miles but worth every step.

Walking in London 2019, South Bank, Walk Around, Westminster
Walking in London 2019, South Bank, Walk Around, Westminster. Walking is a popular recreational activity in London, despite traffic congestion. There are many areas that provide space for interesting walks, including commons, parks, canals, and disused railway tracks. This includes Wimbledon Common, Epping Forest, Hampstead Heath, and the eight Royal Parks: Hyde Park, Regents Park, Richmond Park, etc. In recent years access to canals and rivers, including the Regent's Canal, and the River Thames has been greatly improved, and as well a number of long distance walking routes have been created that link green spaces. Walking Around South Bank London. The London Eye is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is Europe's tallest cantilevered observation wheel] is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3.75 million visitors annually,[11] and has made many appearances in popular culture.
The structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). When it opened to the public in 2000 it was the world's tallest Ferris wheel. Its height was surpassed by the 525-foot (160 m) Star of Nanchang in 2006, the 165 metres (541 ft) Singapore Flyer in 2008, and the 550-foot tall (167.6 m) High Roller (Las Vegas) in 2014. Supported by an A-frame on one side only, unlike the taller Nanchang and Singapore wheels, the Eye is described by its operators as the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel.
The London Eye offered the highest public viewing point in London[13] until it was superseded by the 245-metre (804 ft) high[14] observation deck on the 72nd floor of The Shard, which opened to the public on 1 February 2013.
The London Eye adjoins the western end of Jubilee Gardens (previously the site of the former Dome of Discovery), on the South Bank of the River Thames between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge beside County Hall, in the London Borough of Lambeth.
South Bank London Dry Gin Spirit Review in 4K UHD - from Windsor, England
SOUTHBANK LONDON DRY GIN
Distillery
Burlington Drinks (part of Hayman Distillers Ltd.), Witham, Essex (the Gin is made by Thames Distillers Ltd. – part owned by Hayman Distillers – Clapham, London) England, UK.
Website
Burlington Drinks and Hayman Distillers.
History
Haymans have been distilling Gin in London for 150 years and started with James Burroughs (of Beefeater Gin fame) as James Burroughs Ltd. The company was sold in 1987 to Whitbread, although part of the business was retained and renamed Hayman’s. Today Christopher Hayman is supported by his son (James) and daughter (Miranda), the great-great-grandchildren of James Burroughs. This is the longest serving family owned gin distiller in England today. They own Burlington Drinks, primarily a bottling plant, based in Witham, East Anglia, England, UK.
Thames Distillers is run by Charles Maxwell who is the 8th generation of the family (founders of the Finsbury Distillery) who have been producing Gin since 1700 – making them the oldest unbroken lineage in Gin distillation.
Production
Distilled in a traditional manner from a secret recipe.
The Gin is presented in a traditional old style whisky bottle – clear, cylindrical and with a bulbous neck. The white label has a dark green border and top with a picture of the clock tower “Big Ben” found at the Houses of Parliament in London (and was formerly called “Parliament” Gin).
Category
London Dry Gin.
Alcohol By Volume (ABV)
37.5% (75 Proof).
Price Range
$$$. Not available in the USA but try online from Master of Malt in the UK but prepare to pay an additional 40% for shipping.
Botanicals
Unknown but includes angelica, coriander, juniper berries and other undisclosed herbs and spices.
Name
Named after the South Bank of the River Thames, which flows through London the capital city of England, UK. This was previously known as Parliament Gin.
Tasting Notes
On the nose is pine (juniper) and peppery spice (coriander) with some floral & herbal hints. On the palate this relatively smooth spirit has juniper with citrus (lemon) and peppery spice (coriander & possibly cardamom). On the close are juniper and peppery spice in the short dry finish. This is a basic no nonsense Gin.
Billed as a value Gin, this certainly meets that profile but not in a harsh or poorly construed manner. Whilst it can be drunk neat or in a Martini, this is not the best choice for this and should only be used this way if there is no other option. This Gin is best used with mixers making a suitable Gin and Tonic, Tom Collins etc. – just steer away from mixed drinks where the Gin is the dominant flavor.
This is a straightforward London Dry Gin at a good price and is perfect as a bartenders well Gin – certainly smoother and more flavorsome than most other Gins in this category. Simply put, this is a quality value Gin.
Awards & Accolades
Unknown.
