Boca Raton Florida Beach with Uncle Charles
South Florida certainly has a lot of beaches many of which are quite nice. But most of them are very metropolitan with hotels, businesses and other man made structures looming close by. Of all the beaches in South Florida Boca Raton has the only one which is kept pristine as a sort of nature preserve. While on Boca Beach you can actually forget you are in the third largest population center in the United States.
That said, we headed over there in the dead of Winter (January) and, of course, found it warm enough to get busy in the ocean!! Ethan hd a ball with his Uncle Charles in the waves, splashing and frolicking around. A nifty wind surfer zoomed by and the clear water was quite pleasant!
An overall enjoyable day and if anyone is planning on heading to South Florida I suggest a Boca Beach visit to be sure!

Driving from Miami to Boca Raton, Florida
The Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (HEFT), designated as unsigned State Road 821 (SR 821) and officially known as the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, is the southern extension of Florida's Turnpike, a toll road in the U.S. state of Florida maintained by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise (FTE). Spanning approximately 48 miles (77 km) along a north-south axis, it supplements the 265-mile (426 km) mainline (designated as SR 91) to form the complete 309-mile (497 km) turnpike. The extension begins at its southern terminus at US Highway 1 (US 1) in Florida City, and transitions into the SR 91 mainline in Miramar at its northern end. Despite their designations as different state roads, the mainline and the extension are continuous in their exit numbering.
It was opened in stages between 1973 and 1974, after the mainline of the Turnpike was completed, and is used by both commuters and travelers to the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park. Due to its path, it acts as a de facto outer beltway for Miami, with the Palmetto Expressway (State Road 826) forming an inner beltway.

South Inlet Park Snorkeling | Boca Raton South Inlet Park
The South Inlet Park reefs are both natural (west & north) and artificial (east). Located on the south side of the Boca Raton Inlet, these reefs are in about 12 feet of water. You can spend a lot of time snorkeling here as the reefs are close, but spread out.
The natural reef starts about 175 feet offshore and runs from the jetty to beyond South Inlet Park. The natural reef is covered in sand, but has sea grass growing on it. Many non-fish marine creatures can be found here. The artificial reef, 250 feet off shore, runs from the main walkway of South Inlet Park to the south side of the building south of the park. Pay attention to the current to determine the best entry point.
Do not swim around the jetty!
Like most of South Florida, you MUST use a dive flag when scuba diving and snorkeling at South Inlet Park.
