Video of 201 Ocean Avenue | Marblehead, Massachusetts waterfront real estate & homes
-
It isn’t often that a property like this presents itself for sale in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Boasting more than 5,300 square feet of living space, incomparable ocean views, soaring open spaces and a rare private beach, this seaside contemporary was brought to a whole new level after more than $2 million in renovations.
Affording sweeping vistas to the Boston skyline from virtually every room, this incredible property has one of the longest, if not THE longest water frontages in all of Marblehead, with over 400 feet of water and sand from where you can launch your jet skis or catamarans right from your own yard. We are talking about an entirely different lifestyle than most Marblehead properties, with amazing, direct water and beach access.
With decks and patios spanning the entire length of the house, the open-air living spaces are so remarkable that one might be tempted to stay outdoors. You would, however, be remiss in skipping a trip inside, for the interior of this home is well-matched - and with panoramic views from virtually every single room, you can enjoy the views in all seasons. A thoughtfully wide-open floor plan is enhanced by soaring cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and exquisite wood flooring throughout.
The chefs in the family will salivate over the gourmet kitchen, once the filming site for the PBS cooking show “Ciao Italia.”
This incredible space is enhanced by coffered ceilings, recessed lighting, a marble-topped island, multiple seating areas and a wall of windows.
The formal living room features a fireplace, multiple French doors, a built-in window seat with a Palladian window, and a striking mezzanine with walls of glass and doors to the second-story deck.
An eye-popping, climate-controlled wine cellar with stone flooring, a tasting table and water vistas is directly across the hall.
A more secluded office, with its own separate entrance and French doors, affords the perfect spot for a quiet home office or leisurely family room. And of course working is easy when you can just look up to enjoy the fantastic views.
Just adjacent, a spacious sitting room with a full bath would make for a convenient master or guest suite.
Upstairs, find four bedrooms. While clearly designed with luxury living and entertaining in mind, this home is simultaneously warm and comfortable. Despite having all of the amenities and qualities one would expect from a home of this caliber, it also emotes the feel and warmth of a well-appointed beach house. “Can you imagine yourself living here, in a home that is so outstanding yet still somewhat casual and relaxed?
Pamper yourself in the grand master bedroom, complete with vast closets, a luxurious bath, and great deck access to catch those fabulous views first thing in the morning, or under a starry sky in the evening.
There is also separate, private guest suite or second master bedroom.
It is an incredible beachfront existence is all about a certain lifestyle, something that is actually quite unique to Marblehead.”
A coastal community of nearly 20,000 residents, Marblehead is immersed in its history. It began as a fishing village and evolved with some shoe industry. Marblehead is famous for their contributions to the American Revolution and the Civil War. In the late 19th century, the town attracted the yachting community with its exceptional harbor. After World War II, there was a population boom and the town became a bedroom community for Salem and Boston. Marblehead is the birthplace of the American Navy and Marine Corps Aviation and a popular yachting destination.
Today, Marblehead and its historic harbor are known for the crooked, narrow streets with spectacular architecture of preserved colonial and Victorian homes. Residents and visitors take advantage of the boating and fishing resources and the town benefits from the tourists that visit in the summer months.
Marblehead offers a variety of events throughout the year, including jazz and arts festivals, a tall ships cruise, regatta and race week, and a Christmas walk. Marblehead is blessed with numerous parks, playgrounds and beaches for the enjoyment of all.

Video of 46 Cedar Point | Norwell, Massachusetts real estate & homes
- Just over 20 miles south of Boston lies the peaceful town of Norwell, Massachusetts located in Plymouth County. Bordered by the picturesque North River which leads to the sea, Norwell was historically a farming and boatbuilding community. Today Norwell is a suburban affluent community with just over 10,000 residents and provides modern schools, libraries, shopping, health facilities, churches and a nature preserve. Conservation land provides miles of walking trails, including the 129 acre Norris Reservation bordering the North River. Norwell residents site its friendliness, beauty, rural character, excellent school system and easy commute to Boston as attributes they cherish about the town. In order to preserve its natural beauty, the North River is only one of 20 rivers in the United States protected under the Scenic Waterways Act. It still appears today much as it did 200 years ago. Shipbuilding once flourished on the North River during the 1700 and 1800's with over 1000 vessels built along its banks. Built in 1812, the Mount Vernon was launched just downriver. Today the North River is a source of beauty and recreation, providing ocean access, fabulous kayaking and canoeing, boating, swimming and fishing for striped bass.
46 Cedar Point is a rare property offering peace and privacy in a spectacular setting in a prime riverfront location of over 15 acres bordering the North River with a private dock. Named Bass Cove due to the abundance of striped bass caught from the dock every spring, great fresh fish a part of the allure. At the end of a private road, a long winding drive and cobblestone bridge lead to this elegant and understated custom Colonial home bordered by old stone walls and the North River. This unusual property offers a quiet sanctuary due to its natural expanse of salt marsh, a small pond and pristine woodlands. All the features of an historic home have been carefully crafted, while offering all the amenities of a new home.
As you drive through the granite posts, you enter another world. The beauty and privacy of the natural setting is breathtaking. Rolling lawn, specimen trees and beautiful gardens are framed by the river. The many flowering trees include several varieties of Magnolia, Cherry, Apple and Dogwood. The substantial private dock over a great expanse of green marsh, leads to views for miles in all directions and provides ocean access. It is hard to believe you can be so close to Boston and yet feel as if you are a million miles from everything.
As you enter the home, you immediately notice the level of detail and craftsmanship used to recreate the feel of an historic home. Extensive custom paneling, chestnut floors, many built-ins , custom woodwork, and four fireplaces are some of the thoughtful features that have been carefully crafted. All the conveniences of a modern home such as central air conditioning, central vacuum, a security system, and many generous sized closets contribute to this well planned custom home. The home offers 5 bedrooms, 3 full and 2 half baths, a formal living room and dining room, paneled library, gourmet kitchen, ship-lap paneled family room, mudroom with built-in lockers, 2nd floor laundry, third floor home office and a walk-out lower level.
The formal living room with French doors lead to a large bluestone patio overlooking beautiful gardens and the river
A cozy paneled library with built in bookcases and cabinetry provides a quiet place to read or watch TV
The kitchen features custom Cherry Shaker style cabinetry, granite counters and stainless appliances including a Viking range. An adjacent alcove for the pantry provides a place for a desk and computer to be the organization center for the home. The breakfast area has one of four fireplaces found throughout the home.
The family room adjacent to the kitchen and filled with many oversized windows to capture the views
The master bedroom is an oasis of tranquility with a gas fireplace, separate walk-in closets and a private master bath overlooking the river
Peace and privacy, and beauty and nature along the river are the outstanding hallmarks of this remarkable property while boating, swimming and fishing from your own deepwater dock lets you vacation at home. This rare property offers a lifestyle opportunity -- your own paradise.

Video of 3 Spofford St | Newburyport, Massachusetts real estate & homes
- 3 Spofford Street is a landmark Newburyport home located on the banks of the Merrimac River. It is located just past the Chain Bridge, the only suspension bridge in Massachusetts (other than the non structural bridge in the Boston Public Garden.)
3 Spofford is rich in history as it was formerly an elite boys school and has been featured in a major motion picture. It has been beautifully and brilliantly renovated by the areas premier builder to reflect today's modern design with the integrity of the home's historic past still evident. This is truly a one of a kind home.
This home wraps around you like a warm blanket. The ever changing views are magnificent! When cooking or enjoying a meal there is always a different vista to enjoy. Boats sail gracefully past the windows in the summertime, while fisherman are perched on Deer Island.
In the wintertime, the fireplace roars and the light of glistening snow dances in from the many windows. Eagles nest right off of Deer Island, and in February you can use your binoculars to spot nature's newest offspring.
This home is perfect serenity and yet just a quick five minute ride into the quaint and historic town of Newburyport. It has a stunning chefs kitchen, large gracious rooms and three full floors of living, with 4 and half luxurious baths, and large walk out basement with great light and access, that is fully insulated with room for a wine seller, work out space or just great storage.

Music Monday with Alligator Wine! - kayaking the Merrimack River in Lowell MA
I've been hosting paddles from North Chelmsford to the Sampas Pavillion in Lowell MA for a few years now. Why? Well, Heritage Farm Ice Cream has been sponsoring live concerts there! If it's one thing I love, it's paddling. When you add in some music to enjoy, that makes it even better.
Tonight, I was more than excited for the weekly paddle. Alligator Wine, a Grateful Dead cover band from my hometown of Lowell were taking the stage. I was looking forward to hearing these boys' take on some of my favorites!
We had a handful of people sign up for the round trip and holy smoke, they were all on time for the scheduled shove off. The sun was out and we had a smooth run downstream along the Boulevard with only minimal disruption of some ducks along the way. Arriving at the sandy beach, we came ashore as the band was tuning up and finishing sound checks, so I picked a patch of lawn and settled in for the show. My fellow paddlers socialized and treated themselves to creamy tastes across the street. Meanwhile, I and a good sized crowd treated our other senses.
Was a great show! I kept my fellow kayakers on the shore a lot longer than normal (I did warn them I would be) and we didn't launch again until it was quite dark. We were all equipped to be on the water at night though, so from the cockpits of the kayaks we caught the last of the show as we began the upriver trip to go home. Gotta say, in the dark, behind the stage on the river.. the sound is awesome!
Want to get out and paddle the northeast? Join us in the New England Kayak Club! We're on Meetup as well as Facebook.

New Hampshire Lakes Region Video Tour
- One of the many benefits of living in Southern New Hampshire is the quick and easy access to our four season backyard playground, The Lakes Region.
Just a 90 minute drive from Nashua, it's truly one of the jewels of New Hampshire.
Early Native Americans called Lake Winnipesaukee The Smile of the Great Spirit. The name still seems appropriate today.
With 283 miles of shoreline, 273 lakes and ponds and 274 habitable islands, Winnipesaukee is the centerpiece of the Lakes Region. Recreational activities abound: boating, swimming, cruises, ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobiling - along with some truly spectacular scenery - make this a four-season vacation destination.
Winnipesaukee is surrounded by three mountain ranges: Ossipee, Belknap and Squam. Also visible is Sandwich Ridge and the Presidential Range, including Mount Washington.
With an exquisite combination of lake and mountain scenery, historic New England charm, a friendly atmosphere and unspoiled natural beauty, the towns in the Lakes Region have it all. Even the oldest summer resort town in America - Wolfeboro - is located on Winnipesaukee. When it comes to recreation, amenities and relaxation, there really is something for everyone.
Gazing over the bare landscape of winter, the blankets of snow covering the mountains, and ice fishing huts dotting the frozen lakes, and memories of summer in the distance, there is a special peace and calm that comes over the region. Yet, there are many wintertime activities after the lake has frozen over, such as ice fishing, ice sailing, cross country and downhill skiing, tubing, snowmobiling and even zip lining!
Each June for nine days the city hosts Laconia Motorcycle Week, internationally recognized as one of the oldest and largest bike rallies in the country. For nearly 100 years, this nine day event draws over a quarter million bikers from all over the world.... and maybe even other worlds to the Lakes Region every summer.

Austin's Nocturnal Neighbors: The bats of Congress Ave Bridge
Every summer night, hundreds of people gather to see the world's largest urban bat colony emerge from under the Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin, Texas. These 1.5 million bats are fun to watch, but they're also making our world a better place to live.
The history of Bat Conservation International is integrally linked with that of Congress Avenue Bridge. When engineers reconstructed the Congress Avenue Bridge in 1980 they had no idea that new crevices beneath the bridge would make an ideal bat roost. By 1984, hundreds of thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats had moved into the bridge. Reacting in misguided fear many people petitioned to have the bat colony eradicated.
In 1986, BCI's founder Merlin Tuttle brought the organization to Austin and began a vigorous public education campaign to save the bat colony. After meeting with media, community groups, schoolchildren and city leaders, BCI gradually convinced Austinites that they have little to fear and much to gain from the bridge bats. Now they have become a delight for tourists that attract millions of dollars for the local economy.
BCI continues its work to educate locals and tourists alike about the benefits of bats both in Austin and around the world. To learn more about our bat conservation work visit batcon.org
