The South Carolina Railroad Museum: Towing Steam Locomotive #85
Here at the South Carolina Railroad Museum (where I volunteer) in Winnsboro, SC, we have Jeddo Coal Co. Steam Locomotive #85 being towed back to Rockton Yard. But before we get to that, I decided to chase RR&W #2015 down the line to as he went to go retrieve #85 on the north track in Rion. We catch him at a couple different locations as he makes his way westbound. When I arrived at Rion Yard, 2015 was just coupling up to the fire train which consists of an open air car and a tank car. This train runs behind the steam train during our excursions just in case any fires happen to ignite along the right of way. After that, they make their way towards #85 and coupled up. After coupling up, I headed back out to catch #2015 going eastbound towards Greenbrier to run around his train and put #85 in the lead. At Greenbrier, we see 2015 running around his train. After putting #85 in the lead, we continue eastbound back to Rockton Yard with a speed restriction of 5 mph. After catching him in a few different locations, we finish up at Hwy 321 which is the last crossing before entering the yard. Now the reason you hear that P5 horn on the #85 is because the whistle hasn’t been installed yet and it acts as a back-up until then. But hey, it made a great horn duel. The SCRM will be hosting the steam event April 28th, May 5th, and May 12. As always, enjoy the video!

Granite Hill Plantation - Fairfield County, SC
Experience life outdoors with this one of a kind recreational retreat known as Granite Hill Plantation. Boasting a 10+ acre private pond complimented by a waterfront cabin appropriately secluded on 261 acres offers a combination of year-round hunting and fishing opportunities and country living at its best. The pond is stocked with a variety of fish and includes a screened gazebo for comfort and enjoyment, it is also a haven for waterfowl and a natural water source for a mixture of wildlife. The property itself has 6 large established food plots with several condo stands and automatic feeders, 2 established dove fields and a small beaver pond for duck hunting – all accessed by well-maintained networks of interior roads and ATV trails. Traditionally, this tract has been well managed and produces trophy whitetail and wild turkey annually. The home includes granite counter-tops, stainless steel appliances, a Tennessee Stone wood burning fireplace, vaulted ceilings, cedar walls and a large screened porch with scenic panoramic views of the expansive pond. A 60x40 “man cave” is also equipped with heat/air, bathroom with shower, a gun safe and is already wired with a satellite for a big screen and entertainment. Many home furnishings, equipment, and accessories will convey (list of included items available upon request) helping make this sportsman’s tract turn-key. Granite Hill Plantation also offers historical significance, an old railroad track runs through a portion of the property and is maintained and managed exclusively by SC’s only Railroad Museum. The large granite wall on the property some locals refer to as the “Great Wall of China” lends itself to the name of Granite Hill Plantation. Two electric gated entrances ensure privacy, security, and seclusion, once beyond the gated entrances the potential is boundless.
