Community and Santa Come Out for South Orange NJ Tree Lighting
Well it was a wonderful but cold evening for the South Orange NJ Tree lighting event. The community came out in good numbers to participate and you can see more in the South Orange NJ Tree Lighting pictures below.
It was nice that the South Orange Village Center Alliance ensured folks were as warm as they could be by having a South Orange Shoppers' Oasis Lounge in the lobby of 76 South Orange Ave in South Orange Village. This warming situation was nice considering it is the temporary home of the South Orange Village Board of Trustees while South Orange Village Hall is undergoing renovation. The South Orange Village Center Alliance allowed all to enjoy some free food and drinks that was provided by Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks and Ashley Marketplace along with free gift-wrapping.
As you see in the attached pictures and videos, there was live musical entertainment by the Stuft Stocking Brothers, All in all, Santa Claus showed up around 5 and the tree was turned on, the adults and the kids in the crowd definitely enjoyed themselves.

This majestic Tudor-inspired estate built in 1900 exemplifies grand architectural details and charm. Located in historic Montrose Park, a designated site listed in the National and New Jersey State Registries of historic places, the distinguished all brick home is recognized as one of the most notable in Montrose and sits on a corner lot where it artfully displays its magnificent features and Flemish accents. A wraparound terrace and side porches with stone balustrades gracefully embrace the home on over half an acre. A truly one-of-a-kind work of art.
Renovated with extraordinary craftsmanship and care, the home retains its inherent magic, original splendor and historic significance. The center hall Foyer with original period sconces makes a grand statement and sets the lavish ambiance. Ten foot beamed ceilings enhance the spaciousness and layout of the First Floor with original wood trim and restored hardwood floors throughout. The Living Room is spectacular featuring an Inglenook fireplace surrounded by rich wood trim and bench seats -- refined, yet warm and cozy -- leaded stained glass windows add an extra touch of color and detail. Enjoy formal entertaining in the elegant Dining Room where a stained glass picture bay window stages the changing fall foliage or a picturesque wintry scene. Just beyond the Entry Hall is the stunning Parlor -- the intricately carved marble decorative fireplace is the room's focal point and sure to be a conversation piece.
The fabulous kitchen has been renovated to blend seamlessly with the original architectural highlights of the home. Highest quality features and top-of-the-line appliances include a Viking Professional range, Jenn-Air Pro refrigerator and Bosch dishwasher. Granite countertops and a tile backsplash complement striking wood cabinetry and a built-in matching counter is a perfect place to enjoy a quick snack. The adjoining Breakfast Area has an exposed brick wall and built-in bookcase and computer station, a good time saver for organizing paperwork or helping kids with homework while cooking a meal. Cooks will relish the Butler's Pantry for added storage, counter space and food prep.
Continue your journey to the Second Floor where the elegance and impeccable design continues. Everyone will find their own personal retreat in one of three spacious bedrooms and three baths including the sumptuous Master Suite. Reading and relaxing at its best in the warm Master Sitting Room with a fireplace flanked by built-in shelving for special family pictures and books. Adjoining the bedroom is a walk-in closet and Master Bath designed with luxury in mind. Warm, rich neutral tones and a stained glass window overlooking the soaking tub and shower with built in tile bench make for the perfect way to start or end a long day. A dark wood double vanity with limestone counters is the finishing touch. Conveniently located on the Second Floor are additional laundry facilities and extra storage.
The home's Third Level offers two more bedrooms, a full bath and a large multipurpose room to be used as an office, extra bedroom or play area.
The extraordinary Lower Level will be the center of family time and casual entertaining certain to make lasting memories. No need to stand in long lines waiting to buy movie tickets -- watch your favorite movie on the theatre-sized screen in the Home Theatre Room while savoring popcorn and candy from an authentic Home Theatre Concession stand. What fun! After the movie, head to the built-in bar for a cold drink and kick back in the bar sitting area. In the mood for a good book instead of the movie, there's a Library with exposed brick wall-definitely something for everyone.
A carriage house with a two-car garage and heated room above can be adapted to a quiet office space or studio.
A rare chance to own this historic gem in a class of its own. In the hip town of South Orange, just 30 minutes from New York City, with superb ethnic restaurants, boutique shops and a state-of-the-art performing center, this exquisite estate offers all this and more.

SOPAC and Seton Hall University Presents: Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company in The Legacy Project
Seton Hall University and South Orange Performing Arts Center
present The Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company in The Legacy Project: A Dance of Hope
An epic event of dance-theatre, discussion and a call to social action.
Acclaimed choreographer and storyteller Carolyn Dorfman has created an exultant dance-theatre trilogy that joins us through our common human experience. Told through the lens of the Holocaust, devastation and survival, hope inspires the journey to a land that promises new beginnings! Through trials and triumphs, families are torn apart and come together. Our deepest desires for peace, freedom and family are illuminated in this triumphant work that will make you cry, laugh, think and celebrate the capacity of the human spirit to rise above all circumstance.
On the heels of the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the infamous Night of Broken Glass the evening concludes with Yesterday's Story is Today's Reality, a panel discussion with the artists and Seton Hall professors, clergy and guests.
Emotionally resonant (The New York Times) and ingenious and powerful (The Star-Ledger)
