Oops, I messed the intro with a misspelling error, well, I hope you’ll forgive me. Just 20 years after the millennium we visit this eponymous building and had a nice winter walk in the South park of Sofia, taking advantage of the nice weather. In the beginning we soared around the Millennium Center, which at this moment is the second tallest building in Bulgaria (after Capital Fort) – the height is 121 meters and it occupies this very prominent location near the National palace. In front of it is the lower part of the south park (Yuzhen Park), which is a home of several museums as well as the Garrison shooting range (now a museum), which is infamous for being the place for executions around in the 1940s and were Nikola Vaptzarov faced the firing line. There are other museums like the “Earth and Man” museum, the museum of modern art etc. Around the park is the upscale Lozenets district, which itself is pretty sight to observe from this height. It is home of the very famous Hemus and Hilton hotels which we also span around on our walk and of course the former drive-in cinema, which now houses a car dealership. Vitosha mountain is standing vigilant as always, modestly covered with snow.

Shot in Sofia's South Park, near the Perlovska reka (Pearl River), Bulgaria.
Normally the river level is rather low, but these days due to heavy snow melting and heavy rains it has increased a little.
Quite picturesque, although not well managed park in Sofia.
Maybe Sofia's mayor should hire a few guys to manage the park.

Bomb shelter, leftover from the period of WW2 and the cold war. Аttached to the former prison complex, served the brick factories. Primary objective was to provide for the inmates of the prison complex, located in the area. There are seven entrances and three vertical concrete shaft with metal brackets. The first shaft is 30 meters deep. The second is interrupted to 2/3 with a horizontal hallway, containing three water tanks. The third shaft is 15 meters deep and is an emergency. It is hidden in the bushes. In the bottom of it passing through the hermetically hatch to one of the filtration area. At the core of the hill has 7 entrances with explosion niches. The bunker had bathrooms, toilets, own generator with diesel engine, warehouses, office of the commandant with oak flooring. Unfortunately, none of this is left. / Противобомбено укритие, останало от времето на Втората световна война и края на Студената война. Зачислено към бившия затворнически комплекс, обслужвал тухларните. Основната му цел е била да предпази обитателите на комплекса на затвора, разположени в района. Има седем входа и три вертикални бетонни шахти с метални скоби. Първата шахта е 30 метра дълбока. Втората се прекъсва на 2/3 с хоризонтален коридор, съдържащ три водни резервоара. Третата шахта е 15 метра дълбока и е аварийна. Скрита е в храстите. На дъното и се минава през херметически люк до едно от филтрационните помещения. В основата на хълма има 7 входа с противовзривни ниши. Бункерът е имал бани, тоалетни, собствен генератор с дизелов двигател, складове, кабинет на коменданта с дъбов паркет. За съжаление нищо от това не е останало.
