TURKEY'S BEST Kept Secret. Welcome to KAS in Antalya. Travel to the South of Turkey ????????
Welcome to the South of Turkey. This week we’re in Kaş Turkey! This ended up being one of our favourite towns that we visited while in Turkey and is definitely a gem in Southern Turkey.
Save up to $55 USD our your first AirBNB booking:
To start off the video we head just slightly outside of town where we discover an amazing ancient amphitheater called the Hellenistic theatre, it dates back to about 100 BC and holds about 4000 people. We walk around a bit, take in the views and fly the drone for better views.
Later on we head into the beautiful town, do some shopping and also try the most popular drink in Turkey- Turkish tea as well as Apple Tea.
Afterwards we check out what Kaş offers as far as beaches. First we check out a beach right in town, it’s small but beautiful and also surrounded by lots of hotels and restaurants where you can stay for the day. After this we walk about 20 minutes outside of town to another of the incredible beaches, this one is called Büyükçakıl Plajı or Big Pebble Beach.
To finish off the day, we head back to our apartment rental, do a quick tour of the property and then take in the most amazing sunset!
ABOUT KAS
Kaş is a seaside town on the Mediterranean coast in southwestern Turkey. The modern town occupies the site of ancient Antiphellos, with still-visible ruins including a theater. The 4th-century-B.C. Lion Tomb, with 2 carved lion heads, is one of many Lycian rock tombs in the area. The town center has whitewashed houses and buildings covered in bougainvillea. The Lycian Way, a marked trail, passes by the town.
ABOUT TURKEY
Turkey is a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia with cultural connections to ancient Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Cosmopolitan Istanbul, on the Bosphorus Strait, is home to the iconic Hagia Sophia, with its soaring dome and Christian mosaics, the massive 17th-century Blue Mosque and the circa-1460 Topkapı Palace, former home of sultans. Ankara is Turkey’s modern capital.

ANTALYA
Antalya Province (Turkish: Antalya ili) is located on the Mediterranean coast of south-west Turkey, between the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean sea.
Antalya Province is the centre of Turkey's tourism industry, attracting 30% of foreign tourists visiting Turkey. It was the world's third most visited city by number of international arrivals in 2011, displacing New York. Antalya is Turkey's biggest international sea resort. The province of Antalya corresponds to the lands of ancient Pamphylia to the east and Lycia to the west. It features a shoreline of 657 km (408 mi) with beaches, ports, and ancient cities scattered throughout, including the World Heritage Site Xanthos. The provincial capital is Antalya city with a population of 1,001,318.
Antalya is the fastest-growing province in Turkey; with a 4.17% yearly population growth rate between years 1990–2000, compared with the national rate of 1.83%. This growth is due to a fast rate of urbanization, particularly driven by tourism and other service sectors on the coast.

Archaeological Tour South-West Turkey 2.
В VII в.
XIII в.
Aspendus was an ancient city in Pamphylia, Asia Minor, located about 25 miles (40 km) east of the modern city of Antalya, Turkey. It was situated on the Eurymedon River about 10 miles (16 km) inland from the Mediterranean Sea; it shared a border with, and was hostile to, Side.[2] According to later tradition, the (originally non-Greek) city was founded around 1000 B.C. by Greeks who may have come from Argos. The wide range of its coinage throughout the ancient world indicates that, in the 5th century B.C., Aspendus had become the most important city in Pamphylia. At that time the Eurymedon River was navigable as far as Aspendus, and the city derived great wealth from a trade in salt, oil, and wool.
In 333 B.C. Aspendus paid Alexander the Great a levy to avoid being garrisoned, but it ignored its agreements with him and later was occupied[citation needed]. In 190 B.C. the city surrendered to the Romans, who later pillaged it of its artistic treasures[citation needed]. Toward the end of the Roman period the city began a decline that continued throughout Byzantine times.Roman structures
Aspendos is known for having the best-preserved theatre of antiquity. With a diametre of 96 metres (315 ft), the theatre provided seating for 7,000.[3]
The theatre was built in 155[3] by the Greek architect Zenon, a native of the city, during the rule of Marcus Aurelius. It was periodically repaired by the Seljuks, who used it as a caravansary, and in the 13th century the stage building was converted into a palace by the Seljuqs of Rum.[4]
In order to keep with Hellenistic traditions, a small part of the theatre was built so that it leaned against the hill where the Citadel (Acropolis) stood, while the remainder was built on vaulted arches. The high stage served to seemingly isolate the audience from the rest of the world. The scaenae frons or backdrop, has remained intact. The 8.1 metre (27 ft) sloping reflective wooden ceiling over the stage has been lost over time. Post holes for 58 masts are found in the upper level of the theatre. These masts supported a velarium or awning that could be pulled over the audience to provide shade.[3]
Until recently the theatre was still in use for concerts, festivals and events. Due to some damage caused by fitting modern theatrical equipment during these events the Turkish authorities have suspended further shows. A new modern facility known as Aspendos Arena has been constructed nearby to continue the tradition of open air theatre in Aspendos.
Nearby stand the remains of a basilica, agora, nymphaeum and 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) of a Roman aqueduct. The Roman Eurymedon Bridge, reconstructed in the 13th century, is also in the vicinity.

Antalya, Turkey.
Antalya is the fifth most populous city in Turkey and the capital of its eponymous province. Located on Anatolia's flourishing southwest coast bordered by the Taurus Mountains, Antalya is the largest Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast with over one million people in its metropolitan area.
The city that is now Antalya was first settled around 200 BC by the Attalid dynasty of Pergamon, which was soon subdued by the Romans. Roman rule saw Antalya thrive, including the construction of several new monuments, such as Hadrian's Gate, and the proliferation of neighboring cities. The city has changed hands several times, including to the Byzantine Empire in 1207 and an expanding Ottoman Empire in 1391. Ottoman rule brought relative peace and stability for the next five hundred years.
The city was transferred to Italian suzerainty in the aftermath of World War I, but was recaptured by a newly independent Turkey in the War of Independence.
Antalya is Turkey's biggest international sea resort, located on the Turkish Riviera. Large-scale development and governmental funding has promoted tourism. A record 12.5 million tourists passed through the city in 2014.

BODRUM VLOG | COAST OF TURKEY
Before travelling to Turkey, I did not know any city/town besides Istanbul. However after renting a car and exploring the coast and inland Turkey, I honestly fell in love with the country.
Bodrum was a beautiful seaside town that would flourish if located in another part of the world, however due to Turkey's political system, the place was almost empty, with endless rows of empty sun-beds on the beach and us sometimes being the only customers in a restaurant.
However I still loved the town very much, especially exploring more of the coast on scooters!
Hope you guys enjoy xx

Archaeological Tour South-West Turkey.3.
Myra is an ancient town in Lycia, where the small town of Kale (Demre) is situated today in present day Antalya Province of Turkey. It was located on the river Myros (Demre Çay), in the fertile alluvial plain between Alaca Dağ, the Massikytos range and the Aegean Sea.The earliest church of St. Nicholas at Myra was built in the 6th century. The present-day church was constructed mainly from the 8th century onward; a monastery was added in the second half of the 11th century.
In 1863, Tsar Alexander II of Russia purchased the building and began restoration, but the work was never finished. In 1963 the eastern and southern sides of the church were excavated. In 1968 the former

The floor of the church is made of opus sectile, a mosaic of coloured marble, and there are some remains of frescoes on the walls. An ancient Greek marble sarcophagus had been reused to bury the Saint; but his bones were stolen in 1087 by merchants from Bari, and are now held in the cathedral of that city

Side Turkey
Turkey - The Most Beautiful Places To Visit
Side is a true outdoor museum on the southern coast of Turkey is one of the most famous
historical settlements, located between Manavgat and the village of Selimiye, at 78
kilometers away from Antalya.
Whether you are staying in Antalya or in another resort, you can visit Side if you rent a car
or you take one of the Turkish minibusses (called dolmus) that transport tourists between
resorts.
From the seashore, you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the Taurus Mountains,
They are watching the town.
Following the beach trail, you reach in a few minutes towards narrow streets, colorful
terraces, hospitable merchants who urge you to buy a small souvenir or invite you to eat
and taste the Turkish or the Mediterranean dishes.
The buildings are in big contrast with the ruins of the old city, and the commercial combines with the antiquity and with the old Side stories.
Also, you can find the Temple of Athens is located in the port and the great Roman Theater is located at the opposite end of Side. The steps take you to the Temple of Apollo, and the 35-minute walk makes you stop from place to place to discover traditions, old customs, and the
handicraft of locals who do not forget their origins.
Side is guarded by two beautiful beaches that have a total of 30 kilometers, and to the
east the beach is quieter and continues up to the island of Manavgat, another attraction
near Side.
I’ll let you admire the sunset in Side, recommending you to get here at least once, I
guarantee you have a lot to see!
