Hitachi Class 395 train for Southeastern Railway (UK) - Hitachi
Class 395 is Hitachi's first rolling stock in regular service in Europe. These Hitachi trains provide the fastest domestic rail service in Britain, and are capable of operating at a maximum speed of 140mph. This case study showcases several key aspects of the Class 395 project and demonstrates some of the key reasons for its success.
Running on time ? Britain's first high-speed domestic train service
In 2004, Hitachi took 29 trains on order, leading to the creation of the fastest operating domestic service trains in the United Kingdom. The trains are based at a depot south of Ashford International Railway Station and usually run at 125 miles per hour.
A regular service commenced on the 30th of December 2009 carrying thousands of passengers daily to London, reaching St. Pancras Station in just 37 minutes from Ashford International Station and it's this success story which helped Hitachi introduce a new generation of rail travel to Europe.

SouthEastern to Wandsworth Road and Clapham High Street
There's a once-a-day parliamentary train that leaves Victoria at 0550 in the morning, that is a South Eastern service that unusually stops at Wandsworth Road and Clapham High Street. I went and met Martin early in the morning, and off we went to ride the only train of the day that does this.
This is a parliamentary train, as otherwise there's no service between London and Wandsworth Road and Clapham High Street. (Regular London Overground services come to/from Clapham Junction). It was established a few years ago when the Victoria to London Bridge service (via Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye) was abolished.
The train is the 2Y06 Victoria to Ashford International:

The dramatic incident featured is based on real life events which culminated in an uncontrolled emergency evacuation of a train. Imagine yourself as a passenger on the train if this were to happen to you? What would you do? Could the driver have done anymore? Could he see clearly what was happening? Was he too busy with other tasks? Are train staff under too much pressure in events like these? Could a guard have helped reassure the passengers and keep them safe?
Think this doesn't happen in real life? WRONG! YES IT DOES!
