Pigeon Forge, a mountain town and vacation area in eastern Tennessee, is the home of Dollywood, country singer Dolly Parton’s Appalachian-themed park consisting of rides, an adjoining water park and a museum of her costumes and memorabilia. The city’s other attractions include country music revues like the Smoky Mountain Opry, dinner theaters such as Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede and outlet malls.
You can step aboard the Titanic, ogle OJ Simpson's white Ford Bronco, ride a 200ft-high Ferris wheel and plunge toward the earth on America's first 'wing coaster' in Pigeon Forge, a sprawling cacophony of excess and traffic burning bright in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. With liquor by the drink available since 2013, the city has also loosened up a bit at night. Pigeon Forge is named in part for the Little Pigeon River, which flows through the action. Its banks were once a roosting spot for passenger pigeons – now extinct. Best known today as the home of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's namesake theme park, the city is packed tight with hotels, restaurants and family-friendly attractions, most of them lining Parkway, the main thoroughfare. Pigeon Forge is just 8 miles from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but traffic and stoplights can make that 8 miles seem a mighty long way.
The West Fork of the Little Pigeon River flows north from its source high on the slopes of Mount Collins through Sevier County before linking up with the Middle Fork in Sevierville. Pigeon Forge occupies a narrow valley along this river between Sevierville and Gatlinburg. High ridges surround Pigeon Forge on three sides, with Pine Mountain to the west, Shields Mountain to the east, and Cove Mountain to the south. A bend in the Little Pigeon provides the city's northern border with Sevierville, and a narrow gorge cut by the river between Cove Mountain and Shields Mountain acts as the city's boundary with Gatlinburg.

Rex Howards Landscaping and Excavating, LLC is a family business founded by Rex and Ruby Howard in 1969. Our company got it’s beginnings with one wheelbarrow, an array of hand tools and a 1960 model Buick. At that time Rex was employed with the state of Tennessee on a survey crew which worked primarily on road surveying including the path of Interstate 40. Most work was done in the evenings and on weekends after Rex returned from his job with the state. As business grew and the work load increased to a level that required full time attention Rex resigned from his job with the state and opened Howard’s Construction Company. All types of work was performed from landscaping, excavating, demolition to tree removal.
The base of operations was located in John Green’s Grocery, Ruby’s father, until 1985 when the current office was constructed a couple of hundred feet up the highway from the grocery. As Sevier County has grown and changed so too has Rex Howard’s. What started simply as a sideline income to a full time job has grown into one of the top landscaping companies in East Tennessee providing a full array of landscape and minor excavating services.
Rex and Ruby ran the day to day operations of the business and were joined in 1995 by their son Kevin after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design. In 2000 their daughter Brenda Oakley joined the business as well where she serves as office manager. Rex and Ruby stepped down from daily involvement in the business in 2004 after more than 40 years of work in the landscaping and excavating business. In 2015 the business again grew with the addition of Denise Howard, Kevin's wife, to assist with office predations and safety training.
Rex Howard’s Landscaping and Excavating, LLC. celebrated 45 years of business in 2014. We feel this is a significant accomplishment made possible by many skilled and dedicated employees over the years. We look forward to the many years to come as we continue to grow, evolve and meet the need of our clients who have helped us to achieve a very successful first 40 years helping Sevier County and East Tennessee with all landscaping and excavating needs.

4. Hello Kitty Theme Park
Yes, such a place actually exists and it’s in China and not japan surprisingly. The hello kitty theme park cost about 400 million dollars and the main theme is the infamous hello kitty! Everything here is centered around this cartoon character, and creepy people dressed up like her are found walking around the premises. This impressive place opened its doors in 2015 and this is just one of the 60 new theme parks in China that have been built within the past 5 years or so. So don’t be too surprised if this country has quite a few on our list! Here was see a giant hello kitty ferris wheel, awaiting guests before it opened to the public.
3 - Salina Turda
Who in their right mind who think to turn a salt mine into an amusement park? Romania, that's who. In fact, this underground world of salt-encrusted wonder and amusement was placed by the magazine Business Insider as one of the top ten coolest underground places in the entire world, as well as among the top 25 hidden gems around the world that are worth the trek. This ancient mine for salt is rumoured to have been around since the Middle Ages, it was first mentioned in written records back in 1075 AD. It was opened as a theme park in 1992 and has since received visitors both local and foreign alike of over two million and counting. This art-themed park spans 120 meters below the surface of the Earth. There's the Echoes Room, the octagonal room, an underground lake complete with paddle and row boats, the Rudolf mine with a panoramic elevator, a spa treatment room with natural aerosols, an art gallery, a Ferris Wheel, a bowling alley, mini golf, a sports field, and table tennis as well as pool tables in an elaborate game room. 2 - Dollywood
This theme park of the odd and amusing variety can be located in the Knoxville-Smoky Mountains metroplex in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, jointly owned by, shocker, Dolly Parton, this place hosts over three million guest per season and is the biggest ticketed attraction in the entire state. Here you will find amusement park thrill rides, crafts, music, the southern gospel museum and hall of fame, an enormous water park called Dollywood's Splash Country, a dinner, steam train, general store, blacksmith shop, a saloon, and civil war exhibitions like random attacks from Indians and train robbers. And that's not all folks! There's also a sky zip line, a dual launch coaster which launches forward and backwards, the river battle water ride, a mystery mine coaster through timber canyon and so much more! Five separate festivals are featured here as well as the occasional performance by the voluptuous Country Goddess herself, Dolly Parton. With so many odd Southern based attractions and over 150 acres of grounds to cover, not including the waterpark, this crazy amusing theme park easily has something for everyone.
1 - Survival Drama
This amusement park doesn't feature any rides or carnival attractions or waterslides, but it does offer one the chance to learn what it would have felt like to live in an oppressive USSR military prison. Because who wouldn't want a chance for that three-hour romp of communist style fun? This theme park can be found in Lithuania in the site of an actual Soviet-era underground prison bunker. For the measly price of around 15 euro, get ready for an intense journey through Soviet style survival. Oh, and if the bunker alone isn't frighteningly realistic enough, all of the actors involved in this passionate soul-crushing re-enactment experience were either once in the Soviet army or actual interrogators during wartimes, as well as real dogs foaming at the teeth-lined mouths, former KGB officers and real weapons and gas masks. After signing a waiver which includes a clause which states, in case of disobedience participants may receive psychological or physical punishments, this maddening departure from time and sanity begins with an ambush in the forest from the Red Army. Next it's down the stairwell into the deep, dark, bunker of doom! After that, get ready for the worst interrogation of your pathetic little life. 19 feet below ground, no one can hear you grovel, get ready for marches through underground darkened tunnels, barking, growling dogs, and forced manual labor. The experience ends with captives being led to a shooting line, before receiving a meal of tinned beef and a shot of vodka. Because nothing spells fun like a totalitarian regime, right? This place is easily the strangest, most bizarre and most terrifying amusement park in the entire world.

Wilds & Associates Announces Positive Changes for 2014 Gospel Music Event

In 2005, Southern Gospel Music FanFair launched its inaugural event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The event moved to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in 2009. The following year, Wilds & Associates launched the Country Gospel Music FanFest, adding even more variety for Gospel music fans.
With great anticipation of their 10th anniversary event, Wilds & Associates has announced exciting changes coming in 2014.
SGM FanFair and CGM FanFest are being combined into one event. Beginning with their 2014 season, Gospel music fans can now enjoy a variety of traditional and progressive Southern, Country, Bluegrass, Inspirational and Urban Gospel music all under one roof.
This will also mean a name change for the annual, six-day event. Encompassing the various sub-genres, the event name has been officially changed to Gospel Music FanFair.
As a result of the name change, a new website is currently under development at gospelmusicfanfair.com. The new site will offer all the information about the 2014 event, including an artist appearance itinerary for attendees, exhibit booth information for artists and vendors, daily scheduled activities, ticket information and much more.
The event will continue to feature morning worship services, afternoon matinees, daily showcases, evening concerts and a newly revamped fan awards show. (Details concerning the new Gospel Music Fan Awards are forthcoming.)
The biggest change, perhaps, is the location of the newly reorganized event. The new Gospel Music FanFair will premier at the state-of-the-art theatre of The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky. The prestigious Center is located in the heart of the beautiful Lake Cumberland. The theatre is the 'crown jewel and showpiece' of The Center, where some of the top names in music have performed including the world-renowned National Symphony Orchestra.
On-site parking and plenty of nearby hotel accommodations will ensure convenience to artists, vendors, and fans. And in addition to all the outdoor fun of Lake Cumberland, Somerset offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants and attractions suitable for the entire family.
The Gospel Music FanFair is scheduled to take place May 12-17, 2014.

Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award 2013 - Randall Franks - Actor/Entertainer
Kiwanians honor entertainer Randall Franks for community service
Two performers, whose careers have touched millions of people, were recently honored with the Kiwanis International Distinguished Service Award.
The Kiwanis Club of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia presented the awards at the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring, Ga. near the hometowns of both performers.
Fans, friends and dignitaries traveled hundreds of miles to wish the honorees well and support Kiwanis youth programs as well as charities chosen by Rogers and Franks at a special banquet held in their honor.
Rogers is supporting Wings to Soar, a non-profit birds of prey environmental education organization, and Franks, the Share America Foundation, Inc., a non-profit encouraging youth in the traditional music and arts of Appalachia.
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal sent special commendations for both; thanking them for their respective services to the people of Georgia and the light their efforts shine on their home state. State Rep. Jay Neal presented the commendations on his behalf.
Franks is past chairman of the Catoosa Citizens for Literacy, which assists individuals in learning to read and pursuing a GED at its Catoosa County Learning Center near Ringgold, Ga. Volunteering as deputy public information officer and volunteer liaison for Catoosa County and Ringgold following a 2011 tornado, he coordinated the formation of the Catoosa Organization Acting in Disaster (COAD) whose collaborative efforts brought $1.3 million in donations to Catoosa County helping the uninsured and underinsured residents. He is president of the Share America Foundation, Inc. that provides the Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship to musicians continuing the traditional music of Appalachia. He volunteers as the Northwest Georgia Joint Economic Development Authority film industry liaison and serves as Georgia Production Partnership Secretary. He is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Ringgold and the Boynton Lions Club. He is treasurer of the Catoosa Local Emergency Planning Committee. He volunteers with the Catoosa County Habitat for Humanity, Ringgold Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Family Collaborative and other area organizations.
The actor/entertainer starred in three TV series but is best known as Officer Randy Goode from TV's In the Heat of the Night, a role he performed on NBC and CBS from 1988-1993.
He has co-starred or starred in 14 films with superstars ranging from William Hurt to Dolly Parton. His most recent film Lukewarm is with John Schneider.
The Independent Country Music Hall of Famer's career boasts 19 albums, 19 singles, and over 200 recordings helping share his musical stylings in 150 countries and with more than 25 million Americans. The award-winning fiddler's best selling release, Handshakes and Smiles was a top twenty Christian music seller adding to successes in country, bluegrass and folk. In addition to his solo career including 13 years guest starring for the Grand Ole Opry, the International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend is a former member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Jim and Jesse's Virginia Boys and has performed with Jeff and Sheri Easter, the Lewis Family, the Marksmen Quartet, the Watkins Family, Elaine and Shorty, Doc Tommy Scott's Last Real Old Time Medicine Show and Doodle and the Golden River Grass.
The latest of his four books is A Mountain Pearl: Appalachian Reminiscing and Recipes. The award-winning journalist is a syndicated columnist with his Southern Style appearing weekly in newspapers from North Carolina to Texas and at

Countless concerts for charities, service and civic organization special projects and St. Jude's Research Hospital have always been a focus of James Rogers career.
Rogers served 17 years as an honorary chair for the Alzheimer's Association memory walk and raised awareness for family support organizations for various military branches including upcoming focuses on the Wounded Warriors Project and the Medal of Honor Society.
He was a founder and former board member of American Eagle Foundation for saving of Eagles and continues that work with his interest in the Chattanooga based Wings to Soar.
The multi-instrumentalist, singer and comedian began a long association performing with Silver Dollar City (later Dollywood) in Pigeon Forge in 1983 that eventually brought him to a partnership in the Music Mansion with James Rogers and Company starring in a 2,000-seat multi-million dollar theater winning multiple awards for Best Show, Best Theater and Best Entertainer. He retired in 2013 from performing regularly for Dollywood following 30 years of entertaining millions of fans through thousands of live shows.

Christmas 2012 Countdown from the Past or Present Series: 21 Days to go
Today's upload takes us back into the Past. This is from 2005 and we are at Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, TN. It's towards the end of the night's festivities and since there is not a whole lot of people around, mom and dad let me walk instead of riding in the wagon they had for me. We also stop to watch the Christmas Parade. At the end of this clip we are at the Southern Gospel Music Museum which we show the tribute brick on the museum walkway that has my name and one of my former Sunday School Teachers' son's name engraved on it. We also include the segment where I sing Jesus Loves Me in the hall of fame area. I had started singing and clapping because I like the echo that area makes (mom had told me off camera that we needed to be a little more quiet but the staff in the store said that since there was hardly anybody there as it was almost closing time to go ahead and let me belt one out so I did. :) I will upload more of the Dollywood Christmas Decorations in another video at some point in this countdown series. I have had trouble with the processing of the last couple of videos that I have uploaded to YT so I'm making today's installment shorter to see if that helps with the uploading and processing issues.

The Midwestern United States, also referred to as the American Midwest, Middle West, or simply the Midwest, is one of four census regions of the United States Census Bureau (also known as Region 2). It occupies the northern central part of the United States. It was officially named the North Central Region by the Census Bureau until 1984. It is located between the Northeastern United States and the Western United States, with Canada to its north and the Southern United States to its south.
The Census Bureau's definition consists of 12 states in the north central United States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The region generally lies on the broad Interior Plain between the states occupying the Appalachian Mountain range and the states occupying the Rocky Mountain range. Major rivers in the region include, from east to west, the Ohio River, the Upper Mississippi River, and the Missouri River. A 2012 report from the United States Census put the population of the Midwest at 65,377,684. The Midwest is divided by the Census Bureau into two divisions. The East North Central Division includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, all of which are also part of the Great Lakes region. The West North Central Division includes Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, and South Dakota, several of which are located, at least partly, within the Great Plains region.
