Love the Kenosha Lakeshore
Spending a day at the lake is a favorite past-time of many. Visiting the Southport Light Station Museum and climbing the Southport Lighthouse are just a few ways to learn about Kenosha's rich history on the Great Lake Michigan and to catch a fantastic view of the water. An evening listening to the Kenosha Pops Band at the Sesquicentennial Band Shell is another lakefront favorite!

Me and my husband loves going to visit the local museums this is our absolute favourite. In the Civil War exhibit, there's a 360° movie that I've now seen at least two times.
Kenosha Public Museum is awesome little local museum, showcasing the history of Kenosha. It's free to the public, they just ask for a donation of your choice.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Kenosha (#203)
[Latest Airdate: August 20, 2016]
[Original Airdate: January 24, 2013]
We love Kenosha, and this episode! So many firsts for us here: first civil war museum, first velodrome, first trolley car, first dinosaur, first visit to Tenuta's and the first time John played on a ladies bocce ball team! The rebirth of downtown Kenosha is nothing short of invigorating. And even though we were hot (average temp when we shot was 104), we were enchanted as well. There's nowhere else that you'll find an artist in a light house, a couple selling tuxedos and Hawaiian shirts, a charter boatload of Illinois fisherman and the communications director of Jockey International talking incessantly with such excitement about underwear! And it all works! (3 of 13)

Lighthouses in Wisconsin - Islands and Beaches - Making Family Memories
Sit down, pour another cup of coffee and watch the beauty of making memories in Wisconsin. Experience the beauty of Wisconsin lighthouses, islands and beaches. Plan your trip at TravelWisconsin.com, and #TravelWI your adventures once you're there. Discover more places to make family memories at travelwisconsin.com. No symbol is more synonymous and recognizable with Wisconsin’s maritime tradition than the lighthouse. If only these sentinels could talk. Wisconsin’s 48 beacons all have unique personalities. From the northwestern reaches of Lake Superior to the southeastern Lake Michigan port of Kenosha, lighthouses have countless stories. Wisconsin is also home to a handful of beautiful islands. The Apostle Islands, Madeline Island and Turtle Flambeau Flowage make fantastic travel destinations. But that’s not all, there’s also Rock Island and the Lower Wisconsin River Sandbars which are two must-see destinations. Think you need to travel to the Atlantic or Pacific to enjoy an ocean or beachside vacation? Well, think again. Wisconsin is home to a number of “ocean-esque” beaches along its Great Lakes coastlines. These options all offer a budget- and family-friendly alternative to a more expensive vacation requiring air travel and at least a week of vacation time.
