Red Canyon Slot Canyon, Utah (Peekaboo)
Red Canyon is an AMAZING slot canyon to explore. It is nontechnical and a photographer's dream! Tough ride to get there through 4 miles of extremely deep sand, so if you don't have a 4x4 DON'T TRY IT! Walk it instead! Enjoy the video!

Canoeing The Green River - Canyonlands Natl. Park - Into Stillwater Canyon
SEPTEMBER 24th - 29th, 2011. A 5 night, 6 day, 53 mile adventure down The Green River in Southeastern Utah. Most of the video you see here is the Stillwater Canyon stretch of the Green River or what most people call The Lower Half. Most of this section is part of the Canyonlands National Park and requires a permit due to the high amount of traffic and canoeing adventureurs. The entire stretch from the town of Green River to The Confluence is 120 miles and is sutible for a canoe as there are no rapids to swamp you out. This makes for a very calm and enjoyable canoe trip!
The upper half (from Ruby Ranch to Mineral Bottom) can be viewed here:

Exploring The Narrows in Stunning Zion National Park in Southern UT Our Family Adventure
Join us as we explore beautiful Zion National Park in Southwest Utah. You can spend weeks In Zion National Park but for us, this was a day trip. If time is limited and I can only do one thing is Zion National Park it will be walking or hiking the Narrows in Zion National Park (notice how I manage to get Zion National Park in there so many times for SEO LOL haha there I did it again =). It's considered one of the absolute best trails in the world and it's a hike nearly anyone can enjoy.

The park was established on November 19, 1919 (That's a lot of 19's)
In 1920, Zion National Park had 3,692 visitors. In 2017, the park had 4.5 million visitors.
The park is open all through the year, but the peak time is from April to October.
The fall and mild spring temperatures are perfect for hiking. That being said being from las Vegas Summer temperatures are always cooler than we experience. I have enjoyed this park in all kinds of weather and times, from show to lightning and thunderstorms which is spectacular to hear the rumble through the canyon and see unbelievable waterfalls. the other perks to going off-season are that you have far fewer people in the park and can drive in the park that is only seen via the tram in the main visiting season.
The wonders of Zion National Park include, but are not limited to: mountains, canyons, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches. plus you have to check out the 1.1-mile tunnel Zion-Mount Carmel Highway At the time of its completion it was the longest non-urban road tunnel in the United States and features six large windows cut through the massive sandstone cliff.
Things to consider when hiking the Zion Canyons Narrows:
Our family lives in Las Vegas and we enjoy visiting as often as time will permit and with only being 3 hours away makes for a nice quick getaway from las vegas. Thanks for watching this weeks episode: Exploring The Narrows in Stunning Zion National Park in Southern UT Our Family Adventure. As we make this epic hike

Getting In:
Zion is located in the Southwest corner of Utah.
The closest major airports are:
150 miles from Las Vegas
Or 300 Miles from Salt Lake City
The driving time that’s about 3 hours from Vegas, 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City, or 8 hours from Los Angeles
There’s a couple of other small airports closer by, Saint George is just 49 miles from the park, and Cedar City is 60 miles
(no drone footage was filmed by me inside the park footage came from Zion National Park)

The Union Pacific 1926 Grand Circle Tour: Day 4, Bryce Canyon
The Union Pacific 1926 Grand Circle Tour: Day 4, Bryce Canyon
After 3 days of staying in pretty much the same places as the UP rail tour, I was shut out of Bryce because one of the campgrounds was closed for repaving and the other which is first come first served filled up fast.
Ended up staying at Ruby's Inn campground which was having some minor flooding issues due to the recent rain.
We're always hearing how tourists are overcrowding our parks and Loving them to death. I got my hands on a 1926 pamphlet advertising Union Pacific's Overland tour system of Southern Utah and Arizona. I want to compare what tourism is like now and what it was like then. What can we learn about how to be better tourists and stop destroying our National Parks?
The biggest tour they offered (Tour #5) takes us in a grand circle through 3 National Parks, 2 National Monuments, and a National Forest Preserve over the course of 5 busy days.

Southwest Road Trip: From Grand Canyon to Lower Antelope Canyon
My first Southwest road trip was most definitely a treat! We didn’t let lack of time get in our way – we hit up the Seven Magic Mountains, Grand Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Silver Reef Ghost Town, all in a 48 hour period.
Woof! Tired just from hearing that?
Well, sit back, relax and enjoy! Detailed itinerary below, and on the blog
Music credits:
Drive by NICOLAI HEIDLAS
---
:20 – Seven Magic Mountains just 10 miles outside Las Vegas. This public art installation was erected in May 2016, and will be up for the next two years. Go take a gander – they’re grrrreat!
:40 – South Kaibab Trail at the Grand Canyon was absolutely stunning. Now, the trail is challenging – and much tougher on the way back – but it’s a great way to go inside the Canyon, with amazing viewpoints like Ooh Ahh Point and Cedar Ridge.
1:05 – Cedar Ridge point on the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon. It’s just 2 miles in, so great for a day trip. (Again – be smart about how far you go into the canyon; it’s much tougher to get back up, especially in the heat!)
1:28 – Lower Antelope Canyon was just out of this world. It’s about a one-hour hike through the Canyon with some steep steps to get in, but absolutely worth the trip. Lower Antelope Canyon is a must-see on any Southwest road trip!
1:53 – Horseshoe Bend is just a few miles from Antelope Canyon, and is about a one-mile hike from the parking lot. This spot gets so much love on Instagram, and was definitely a favorite of mine!
2:09 – Silver Reef Ghost Town in Utah was pretty isolated, and didn’t have much going on, but hey – it’s a ghost town! What do you expect?
Overall, the Southwest road trip was one-of-a-kind, and definitely one for the books. If you have any questions as you plan your trip, let me know!

Canyonlands Needles District Backpacking 5 Days Solo
This was a 5 day backpacking trip in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. This late October trip was a figure-8 loop route that took me back to the car on day 3 in order to re-supply water. To see a map of this hike, please scroll down to the GPS Route link below. The Needles is mostly dry year round with a few exceptions, so I carried all my water for the trip. On Day 1, I hike from Squaw Flat Trailhead out to Big Spring Canyon, head over slick-rock passes and slots into Elephant Canyon; then on to Chesler Park to camp. On Day 2, I take the Joint Trail and make a large loop back to Chesler Park. Then I take the NoName Canyon route up and over slick rock benches, two ladders, and a tight tunnel-slot into upper Big spring Canyon to camp. On Day 3, I hike out a short distance back to the car to resupply water and then head out the opposite direction into Squaw Canyon to setup camp and do an evening hike through upper Squaw Canyon. On Day 4, I climb the slick-rock pass from Squaw Canyon into Lost Canyon, hike through most of it until making camp, and then do a short evening hike through an unnamed side canyon. On the 5th day, I follow the remainder of Lost Canyon back to Squaw Flat and eventually back to the trailhead.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it. Please subscribe for more content.

Family Road Trip: Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and Wire Pass // Kanab, UT, Episode 6
Our family of 5's first road trip since deciding to travel to all 50 states! On day 7 of our trip, we visited Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and Wire Pass trail at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument near Kanab, UT. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is about 20 minutes west of Kanab and is about 3700 acres. It is known for large sand dunes created from the erosion of nearby sandstone canyons.
Wire Pass trailhead is located in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument west of Kanab. It is a 1.7 mile easy hike that connects to Buckskin Gulch, which is the longest slot canyon in the Southwest.Wire Pass requires a self pay permit that is $6 per person or dog for adults and children over 12 years old. Wire Pass also connects to the Wave trail. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) restricts access to the wave down to 20 permits per day. The only way to obtain a Wave permit is through a lottery drawing. The lottery costs $5 for each attempt. 10 permits are award online through BLM's website and 10 permits are awarded in person at the Kanab BLM visitor center. The Wave gained popularity from being featured as a desktop landscape wallpaper for Windows 7. We were not able to hike to the Wave on this trip, but we hope to try our luck with the Wave lottery next time we visit Utah.
Cliff Dwellings at Montezuma Castle National Monument
Montezuma Castle National Monument protects a set of cliff dwellings. It is located around 50 miles south of Flagstaff. We also see Montezuma Well which is a site part of Montezuma Castle National Monument.
The dwellings were built over a period of three centuries, between approximately 1100 and 1425 CE by the Sinagua people. The main structure, the so-called Castle A, has five stories, at least 45 rooms, and sits 90 feet above the ground in the limestone cliffs.
#️⃣ Montezuma Castle National Monument was unit #21 out of #419 on our journey to visit them all. See a detailed write up here:

_Our Mission_
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
_Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release_
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
_Informing, Educating and Inspiring_
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
_Martin Tyner_
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.
_Cedar Canyon Nature Park_
The CCNP is 22.6 acres of beautiful canyon property donated by Pacificorp, in Cedar City, Utah. We are in the process of developing a permanent wildlife rescue facility and Nature Park for the children of Utah. Sitting on the transition point between the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin, the CCNP’s mission is focused on fostering appreciation, knowledge and wise stewardship of the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin environments, which include wildlife, botany, geology, history, and native culture.
Natural Bridges National Monument | Three bridges to the past in Utah
Natural Bridges National Monument is a wonderful place to spend a day hiking and photographing 3 natural bridges.
Make our day! Give us a thumbs-up, SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, and/or SHARE this video. Are we asking TOO much?
_____________________________________
ABOUT NATURAL BRIDGES NATIONAL MONUMENT
This is an awesome place for a day hike! Natural Bridges National Monument in southeastern Utah sits high on Cedar Mesa, 6,500 feet above sea level. Intermittent streams have cut two deep canyons and three massive bridges in sandstone formed from what was once the shore of an ancient sea. At each of the bridges, trails descend into the canyons from a 9-mile rim-top loop road. A longer trail meanders along stream beds and the canyon bottoms through oak and cottonwood groves, connecting the three bridges in one loop hike. The monument is somewhat isolated but, for a day trip, you will find it well worth your time.
There is also a campground and picnic areas within the park.
Electricity in the park comes entirely from a large solar array near the visitors center.
In 2007, the International Dark-Sky Association named Natural Bridges the first International Dark-Sky Park, which is a designation that recognizes not only that the park has some of the darkest and clearest skies in all of the United States, but also that the park has made every effort to conserve the natural dark as a resource worthy of protection.[5][6] To date, Natural Bridges has the only night sky monitored by the NPS Night Sky Team that rates a Class 2 on the Bortle Dark-Sky Scale, giving it the darkest sky ever assessed.
That’s just a small part of the adventure and beauty you’ll find here!
