New Mexico Travel: Visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park During Your Next New Mexico Travel Adventure!
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located in the Guadalupe Mountains near Carlsbad, New Mexico, United States. The park has over 100 caves, with three open to the public: Carlsbad Caverns, Slaughter Canyon Cave, and Spider Cave. Carlsbad Caverns includes a large chamber (the Big Room) as well as many other smaller rooms: Guadalupe Room (with stalactites), the beautiful Queen's Chamber, King's Palace, and many more. There is also an Underground Lunchroom with a cafeteria and elevators. Visitors can enjoy either guided or self-guided tours of various levels of difficulty. In addition to the caverns, there is camping and hiking in the park. Visitors can also watch the bat flight when Brazilian free-tailed bats exit out of the cavern at sunset in the summer.

Exploring Carlsbad Caverns National Park in Carlsbad New Mexico. Carlsbad Caverns is home to some of the most spectacular examples of underground geologic features found anywhere in the United States. Located in southeastern New Mexico, the park contains more than 300 limestone caves carved over the course of 250 million years.
One of the most exemplary caverns in the system is known as the Big Room. At nearly 4,000 feet across and 255 feet high, the Big Room is the fifth-largest underground chamber in the United States. Many areas have yet to be explored. In fact, an entire new chamber was most recently discovered in 2013.

Carlsbad Caverns Pt 1: Natural Enterance
Carlsbad Caverns National Park is a United States National Park located
in the Guadalupe Mountains in southeastern New Mexico. The primary
attraction of the park for most visitors is the show cave, Carlsbad
Caverns. Visitors to the cave can hike in on their own via the natural
entrance, or take the elevator (the exit for everyone) directly to the
Underground Lunchroom some 750 feet (230 m) below.

Lechuguilla Cave - 2019 Expedition
Video documentation of the 8-day expedition to the western branch of Lechuguilla Cave in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. This expedition was co-led by Derek Bristol and Dan Austin with an emphasis on surveying leads in the recently discovered area of Zion, as well as Oasis, Keel Hall, Long Haul, Sanctuary and Oz. More than 5,700 feet of new passage was added to the surveyed length of the world's 7th longest cave.
Some of this video was captured while volunteering for the National Park Service at Carlsbad Caverns. The opinions expressed are those of the video editor, and not of the National Park Service. This trip was conducted under the conditions of a permit. The video depicts cavers traveling over flowstone and other well decorated areas of the cave. Clean gear and rigorous conservation practices were used to conduct exploration in these areas while minimizing resource impact.
