Bernie Sanders Rally Spokane
I had the honor of singing The National Anthem today, 3/24/16 for The Next President of the United States! #feelthebern #spokaneforbernie #stillsanders
Bernie Sander's rally Seattle March 20, 2016 Sunday
Inspiring speech by young Native American Bernie presenter, Charles J. Adkins.
The crowd was entertained by singers and speakers before Bernie Sanders arrival including the Tulalip Tribe.
Bernie Sanders was introduced by Charles J. Adkins on the center stage to a packed arena.
“I think Seattle is ready for a political revolution”.
Bernie was quick to task Trump is saying he insults Mexicans, Muslims, Women and African Americans but “What the American people understand is that we are strong when we come together …people understand helping each other and supporting each other will always TRUMP selfishness. …We are doing something unusual in American politics, we are telling the truth.”
And this....
The Senator spoke for 45 minutes and then headed to Seattle where an estimated 20-30,000 crowd was waiting for him including a tribal delegation including NCAI President Brian Cladoosby (Swinomish), VAWA champion Deborah Parker (Tulalip) and Yakama leaders including Asa Washines.
Washines told ICTMN that he is still undecided and believes: “Both candidates have great planks towards Native Americans and both would benefit Indian country, and what I saw took place today is unprecedented. The Sanders campaign is pushing Indian country issues to the forefront on the campaign trail. Today when the Senator from Vermont talked about the environment, he said (paraphrasing) we should look to the Native American community for solutions. That's unique, and a lot of Indian country is paying attention.”
Parker posted photos and video of the meeting on social media which included a naming ceremony.
“Native American leaders named Bernie Sanders dxʷshudičup (pronounced dooh-s-who-dee-choop),” she wrote on Facebook. “This name is now bestowed upon Bernie Sanders and will be known among the Coast Salish people and beyond. The Lushootseed language meaning is the one lighting the fires for change and unity. Thanking our Tulalip language teacher Natosha Gobin for helping us with Bernie Sanders lushootseed name.”

My 4th TOOL show first off it was awesome but the set list was not what I wanted it be, this greatest hits show is what I'm calling it. The visuals were just a tad better than the Reno show I was at in '12. The audio was spot on from the whole band even Maynard was great except he skips the end of Vicarious. I can not wait for official new material and a tour to go with it. Cause I don't think this 2014 tour will be it.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Ashland, VA, in Central Virginia, is located on the CSX RF&P Subdivision, the former Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad, and is about 15 miles north of Richmond. The town gets over 20 Amtrak passenger trains and 20-25+ CSX freight trains daily. It’s a designated quiet zone, but the crew can use the horns at their discretion. The maximum speed for trains passing through the town's center is 35 miles per hour (MPH).
There are 3 cameras available. The default camera is an Axis 360 located on top of the Visitor’s Center (train station), and 2 static cameras facing North and South on the other side of the intersection. Desktop users can use the suitcase icon at the bottom of the video to toggle between cams. For other devices, you can access the static cams with the links above.
See Tiny Tim’s Trains and Toys Store on the south cam? It's awesome, and worth a visit. Tell Suzanne and crew we said hello!
There is no ATCS layout (and no server coverage) available for the RF&P Sub, as it does not use radio code line (RCL) for switch-and-signal control (RCL is essential for ATCS availability).
There is a radio feed available, listening to the CSX RF&P Sub (BD dispatcher) and Richmond Terminal (FB dispatcher) channels, as well as the Buckingham Branch Railroad's (BBRR) Piedmont Sub channel (which crosses the RF&P Sub at a diamond in Doswell, to the north of Ashland):
A second radio feed providing the Richmond Terminal channel, as well as those for both the North End and Bellwood Subs, can be found here (select the Richmond Area Stream):
When’s the next train? Yeah, we get this a lot. You can figure out the next Amtrak passenger train with this handy link:
There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.

Portland Civil Rights: Lift Ev'ry Voice
Lift Ev’ry Voice explores Portland’s African American history with a focus on the turbulent 1960s, ’70s and early ’80s. At the time, issues surrounding urban renewal, school desegregation and brittle police relations were exploding both nationally and locally.
By the mid-20th century, Portland was still considered the most segregated and prejudiced city on the West Coast.
World War II would fuel racial tensions in the city. During that time, thousands of African Americans migrated north to work in the shipyards. In Portland most were funneled into a hastily constructed public housing project called Vanport. After the war, many continued to live there because of a severe housing shortage.
A spring day in 1948 would change everything. The Columbia River flooded and washed away the town, leaving hundreds of both black and white families homeless. African Americans had little choice where they could move because of discriminatory real estate and banking practices. Most were forced to relocate to an inner northeast district called Albina. As blacks moved into the area, whites moved out into newly created suburbs — off limits to people of color.
The 1950s became a time of hard-fought civil rights victories led by organizations like the NAACP and the Urban League of Portland. The early pioneers helped break the color barrier in housing and jobs, but racist policies and powerful negative stereotypes would prevail in the city.
By the late 1950s, Portland’s disinvestment in the Albina district, lack of capital for mortgages and home improvements, and high unemployment among young African American men had created what was being called Portland’s Negro ghetto. The “ghetto” would soon be targeted for federally funded urban renewal projects.
In 1957 Portland voted to build the Memorial Coliseum and the East Bank freeway in Albina. The construction uprooted the southern and oldest end of the district first — destroying hundreds of homes and businesses owned by both blacks and whites.
In the late 1960s the Emanuel expansion project would displace hundreds more in Albina’s central core. Displaced African-American families were continually shifted further north and east.
In Portland and across the country, a new generation of young black activists was emerging with more militant strategies for changing the status quo. They began demanding equal rights as first class citizens, more jobs and better housing, and an end to police harassment and brutality.
By the late 1970s the Portland chapter of the Black United Front had emerged and gained tremendous power. Its members advocated for equal and effective educational opportunities for all children in their own neighborhoods, and demanded an end to the forced bussing of black children to white schools.
Continual pressure from the black community would ultimately end mandatory bussing in the city. At the same time, activists would focus attention on institutional racism in the Portland Police Bureau and demand accountability of the bureau and its officers.
Portland Civil Rights: Lift Ev’ry Voice is told largely through the words of men and women who lived through and led the struggles for human rights in Portland, and with archival film and images illustrating these remarkable times.
