Squam Lakes Fox Den powered by EXPLORE.org
A family of wild Red Foxes has raised kits in a den on the campus of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness, New Hampshire for three successive springs. In 2016 she reared 5 kits, in 2017 she reared 7 kits. This year she appeared with 9 kits on April 4. After more than two weeks of observations we were astonished on April 20, when we counted 11 kits. We can't believe that one female produced all these kits and we are puzzled why we have not seen all eleven until now.

Lucy Hikes the Rattlesnake Trail, Squam Lake, New Hampshire
Rattlesnake Trail, Squam Lake, New Hampshire lakes region
West Rattlesnake trail
The Rattlesnakes are two small rocky mountains on the NW side of Squam Lake which provide excellent views of the Lakes Region. (There are also about 8 Rattlesnake Hills and 5 Rattlesnake Mountains in New Hampshire, the most notable of which is in Rumney. Few if any of them house actual rattlesnakes.)
There are many old bridle paths in New Hampshire from the pre-automobile days of genteel summer vacations with travel by train from major cities. While the most famous Old Bridle Path ascends Mount Lafayette, this one is the easiest trail up West Rattlesnake, and receives heavy use from summer camps and other visitors. The trail has been heavily rebuilt with gravel and rock and log steps, and there is a donation box at the trailhead for those who wish to contribute

Experience Squam Lake A Trip Back In Time, Definitely A Slower Pace
Squam Lake is located in central New Hampshire. Squam is the second largest lake in the state just under 6800 acres. Towns around the lake include Ashland, Holderness, Sandwich, Center Harbor and Moultonborough. Not your typical lake, a much slower pace. Explore the open shoreline and islands by canoe or kayak. Squam Lake has miles of open shoreline with so many inlets and islands that the only way to get there is by boat – or maybe canoe. But that’s only the start of the fun… Sure, the human folk are warm and friendly, but most of your neighbors are bald eagles, moose, blue herons, loons, salmon, bass and more – So bring your fishing pole, some binoculars and by all means a camera – because the memories you’ll make here are priceless.

What Activities Are there to enjoy at the Snowy Owl Inn in Waterville Valley New Hampshire?
What activities you can do to enjoy the Natural Beauty of Waterville Valley, using Snowy Owl Inn as a home base?
The Snowy Owl Inn is located in the beautiful Waterville Valley of the White Mountains and there is so much to enjoy that it will overwhelm you.
The White Mountain National Forest has so many places and sports to enjoy. Some of the great nature loving activities you can enjoy are: Bird Watching, Moose Tours, Nature Watching, Hiking, Rock climbing, Fishing, boating, swimming, Mountain Biking, picnicking,
If all that is too tiresome for you then just take a scenic drive or get on a train in Lincoln and enjoy the view.
The Squam Lake Science Center in Holderness, NH is a true gem and just a short drive away from the Snowy Owl Inn. The Squam Lake Science Center is an educational center focused on native NH animals. It is so well designed that the two year old all the way to the grandparents will enjoy their visit and learn something new. I truly cannot say enough about this gem of a location that must be experienced. They even have Squam Lake enjoyment and educational boat tours to see the Loons and Bald Eagles. Their activity calendar is worth taking a look at.
Other great family friendly places are:
The Polar Caves, this true gem is deceiving from the road as to how great it is and how much fun the kids have climbing into cool deep caves. Not for the claustrophobic or for those who can't climb stairs and ladders.
The Flume is a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty. The walls of Conway granite rise to a height of 70 to 90 feet and are 12 to 20 feet apart.
There are so many treasures in Waterville Valley and around the Snowy Owl Inn .... we can take the time to help you plan your vacation around what you want to experience. Just let us know what your heart desires.

The Seacoast Science center is situated on the Atlantic Ocean, in Odiorne Point State Park, Rye, New Hampshire. It's one of my favorite places to fly, especially on a late Sunday afternoon when there are few people around. Here's their website:

Ashland New Hampshire (NH) Real Estate Tour
-- Tour Ashland, NH neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Ashland, New Hampshire, once the southwest section of Holderness, was settled in 1763 and incorporated as a separate town in 1868. It was named in honor of Henry Clay, for his birthplace in Ashland, Virginia, and his estate in Kentucky.
Predominantly agricultural in nature for much of its history, Ashland saw the establishment of an inudustrial center at Holderness Village beginning in about 1771, with a sawmill, gristmill and several factories established along the 112-foot falls that connects the Squam and Pemigewasset Rivers. Today, Ashland offers a bounty of historic and rural scenery, a convenient location at the juncture of the White Mountains and the Lakes Region, and boundless opportunities for recreation and leisure. Ashland includes the geographic center of the state, located just west of Lake Winnipesaukee. For other town tours visit . For towns in NH visit . For NH relocation information go to .
