Navarathri at Sri Maha Marianman Temple (Bangkok, Thailand)
Navarathri (Sanskrit for Nine Nights) is the largest Hindu festival in Bangkok. The idol of Durga is taken from the shrine on Silom Road and around the block, where devotees have set up shrines to her and other deities.
Outside Sri Maha Mariamman Temple (Silom, Bangkok, Thailand)
In the Silom area of Bangkok stands a Hindu temple built in the South Indian style - full of colour, basking in the sweet smell of incense and accompanied by devotional music. In the streets surrounding the temple you can buy Indian food, Hindu statues and various offerings to be used in the temple. I was lucky to visit during a day that a parade and dancing was taking place outside.

The word Navratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit. The Hindu festival of Navaratri is an event that takes on spectacular proportions in Bangkok, Thailand.
