Mayapur is a city located on the banks of the Ganga river, at the point of its confluence with the Jalangi, near Nabadwip, West Bengal, India, 130 km north of Kolkata (Calcutta). The headquarters of ISKCON are situated in Mayapur and it is considered a holy place by a number of other traditions within Hinduism.
Mayapur in west Bengal is the headquarters of International Society of Krishna Consciousness ( ISKCON) popularly known as Hare Krishna. Mayapur is situated on the banks of the Ganges river, 130 KM north of Kolkata and the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprbhu; special incarnation of Lord Krishna in the mood of Radha. Millions of pilgrims visit Mayapur from different parts of the world. Big festival called Gaura Purnima is celebrated for a week on the month March every year.

An Iskcon source said: The gold-plated chakra roughly costs around Rs 15 crore.The planetarium will attract millions of tourists to Bengal and provide a boom to the tourism industry in the state - the same way the Akshardham temple in Delhi gets visitors. I am hopeful that in 2022, once the entire project is completed, many people will visit it, Iskcon sources said the temple is spread over 350 acres and would accommodate a big model of the universe, including its creation as mentioned in Bhagavad Gita.

West Bengal Tourism Presents – Gaur Purnima Festival, ISKCON Mayapur
With the help of Sriman Subrata das from ISKCON Mayapur, the West Bengal Department of Tourism recently produced this video documentary of Gaur Purnima at ISKCON Mayapur. With the purpose of expanding the already popular Holy Tirtha of Sridhama Mayapur, the birthplace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, which is currently visited by over 5 million pilgrims annually, this video will help to bring Mahaprabhu’s message to millions more, especially in lieu of the Grand Opening of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium in 2022.

ISKCON is an organization founded by Srila Prabhupada, a Bengalee born at Kolkata, who at the age of 69 embarked on this mission of spreading the message of Krishna in foreign countries as per the orders of his spiritual master Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. It follows the Gaudiya Vaishnab Tradition of Sri Chaitanaya Mahaprbhu. As a result of Srila Prabhupada's endeavor, many foreigners across the globe got acquainted with the Vedic culture and Sanatana dharma. They adopted a Saatvic lifestyle as prescribed in the Vedic scriptures.
Mayapur ISKCON temple at Nabadwip, the birth place of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, is the Head Quarter of ISKCON. It is one of the 20 sacred places most visited in the whole world with almost 5 million visitants/guests around the year!
ISKCON devotees follow a disciplined line of Gaudiya Bhagavata Vaishnavas and are the largest branch of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Vaishnavism means 'worship of Vishnu', and Gauda refers to the area where this particular branch of Vaishnavism originated, in the Gauda region of West Bengal. Gaudiya Vaishnavism has had a following in India, especially West Bengal and Odisha, for the past five hundred years. Bhaktivedanta Swami disseminated Gaudiya Vaishnava Theology in the Western world through extensive writings and translations, including the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana), Chaitanya Charitamrita, and other scriptures. These works are now available in more than seventy languages and serve as the canon of ISKCON. Many are available online.
Krishna is described as the source of all the avatars of God. Thus ISKCON devotees worship Krishna as the highest form of God, svayam bhagavan, and often refer to Him as the Supreme Personality of Godhead in writing, which was a phrase coined by Prabhupada in his books on the subject. To devotees, Radha represents Krishna's divine female counterpart, the original spiritual potency, and the embodiment of divine love. The individual soul is an eternal personal identity which does not ultimately merge into any formless light or void as suggested by the monistic (Advaita) schools of Hinduism. Prabhupada most frequently offers Sanatana-dharma and Varnashrama dharma as more accurate names for the religious system which accepts Vedic authority. It is a monotheistic tradition which has its roots in the theistic Vedanta traditions.

TOVP Chakra Installation Ceremony 2018
This beautiful and emotionally stirring video documentary produced by Prananantha das about the TOVP Chakra Installation Ceremony on February 7th, 2018 is sure to arouse in your heart a further appreciation for this historic and visionary project initiated by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder/Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Attended by over 6,000 devotees and watched by over 1 million viewers on Mayapur TV, this most important and pivotal event marks another milestone of progress in the construction of the TOVP and heralds the final stages of its completion. The placing of the three Chakras, the crown jewels of the TOVP onto the domes is now complete and we expect full protection and auspiciousness as we proceed for the next four years with MISSION 22, the marathon effort to complete the TOVP by 2022 and celebrate its Grand Opening to the world.
His Holiness Gopal Krishna Maharaja emphasized in an introductory speech to the assembled devotees:
“We have come this far and the Sudarshana Chakras are now being installed, but that’s not the end of the story. Our endeavor and deadline is to complete this project by 2022, four more years, and there’s a lot more work to be done. This is attainable if every devotee in the Krishna consciousness movement becomes a TOVP Ambassador and plays their role to make this project succeed.”
In a letter from the hospital, His Holiness Jayapataka Maharaja expressed these thoughts:
“With the great effort and generosity of Svaha Dasi, Ambarisa Dasa and family, and with many yatras, temples and individuals helping, the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium has come to this level of transcendental completion. The TOVP was desired by Srila Prabhupada as his special offering to the previous acaryas and to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. The raising of the cakras and the installation of the cakras symbolize the structural completion of the TOVP and now, finishing work has to proceed.”
Her Grace Svaha Mataji, wife of TOVP Chairman and Great Grandson of auto magnate Henry Ford, Ambarisa das, appealing to the audience said:
“On this most auspicious occasion may the Lord’s Sudarshan Chakra illuminate our path to completion of the TOVP in 2022. This is a historic moment, not only for ISKCON but for our entire Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya. Our previous acharyas have blessed our endeavors to manifest the TOVP and they are most certainly pleased to see us celebrate the victory over the forces of Kali by Srila Prabhupada’s movement…..Let this occasion serve as a springboard for 2022 when Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Pancha Tattva, Sri Nrsimhadeva and Srila Prabhupada can move into Their new home. The next four years are the last stretch of the marathon and we have to sprint to the finish line together with great vigor and enthusiasm. We have full faith that if we come together in all earnestness for the next four short years we can make this collective offering to Srila Prabhupada”.
His Grace Braja Vilas das, TOVP Global Fundraising Director and event organizer expressed his deep-felt emotions saying:
“Srila Prabhupada said to make the moon of Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir rise more and more. Today we can gladly offer him the half moon. The full moon will be offered in 2022… This ceremony is not just the installation of the Chakras but the victory of Srila Prabhupada in conquering the whole world.”
