St-Paul de Vence in the south of France
St-Paul de Vence in the South of France is one of the best preserved and prettiest medieval villages in all of Europe. We're going to take you on a walk straight through the middle of St-Paul on the main pedestrian lane from one end of town to the other and later working to show you all the little side streets. Located on the Cote d'Azur along the French Riviera in Provence, this village is one of the prettiest in Europe. The cobblestone lanes here are among the finest that you will ever see.
When you reach the far end of the main lane you exit through another gateway arch and then there's a staircase that leads your right up onto the wall with a lovely viewing platform where you can see across the distant landscape.
The walks round the walls are in part wider, and the small gardens of the houses sloping down to them, with the dark foliage and golden fruit of their orange groves, form a beautiful foreground to the lovely views that are visible off in the distance in every direction.
Saint-Paul de Vence's town wall dates from the 16th century as we see it today and it hugs the contours of the rocky spur on which the village stands, forming a 1 km perimeter that has undergone only slight modifications since the 16th century.

Montmartre, Paris ... Off the Tourist Track
This is a look at the hilly Montmartre area of Paris, with emphasis on the parts of the butte that are off the well-worn tourist track.
I've already made a video that shows the touristy parts of Montmartre, such as Sacré-Cœur basilica and the artists' square (place du Tertre). You can find that on my channel, or there's a link to it at the end of this video. This considerably longer video explores just about everything except those touristy areas. Of course, all of Montmartre (and all of Paris) attracts tourists, but the density of tourists declines by at least a factor of 100 once you are off the beaten track.
There is a great deal to see in Montmartre, and this video cannot do it proper justice in 38 minutes. It's much more interesting to walk through this neighborhood than it is to see a video about it. However, I've tried to capture as much of a reasonable cross-section of Montmartre as I could, for those who don't or won't have the opportunity to see it in person.
The video shows places like the rue Lepic, avenue Junot, place Dalida, rue Cortot, rue Saint Vincent, rue des Trois Frères, rue des Abbesses, rue Caulaincourt, rue Lamarck, the Suzanne Buisson garden, the two main cemeteries on the butte, assorted stairways, other gardens, and points of interest (such as several shooting locations from the movies Amélie and Ronin), and so on.
If this videos seems quiet, that's because Montmartre is a lot quieter than the rest of Paris, since the twisty little streets discourage through traffic.

For decades after the end of World War II the question of French collaboration with the Nazis was obscured. One of the reasons for this was the desire of de Gaulle and others to downplay the central role of communists in resisting the occupation. In fact, many French civilians were involved to greater or lesser degrees in informing upon their fellows or otherwise furthering the interests of the German invaders. EMSB Health Forum
The English Montreal School Board, the Youth Coalition Against Smoking (a movement coordinated by the Quebec Council on Tobacco and Health) and the Public Health Director of the CIUSSS du Centre-Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal presenred an important youth forum on Wednesday, April 29 on the subject of tobacco use.
EMSB Chairman Angela Mancini notes that plans call for a number of forums such as this on different health issues, this first one dealing with smoking/vaping and the tobacco industry’s constant efforts to win youth over as new clients. “This all falls into the backdrop of massive cuts in healthcare in Quebec, which will end funding for many programs directly geared towards youth in the area of prevention and promotion,” she said. “It also coincides with the revision of Bill 112, which governs tobacco use in Quebec, and with the expiration of the Canada Health and Services Act, which governs the parameters and provides the funding for our health services. So it is a time of much movement!”
David-Roger Gagnon, the EMSB’s Program Development Officer for Healthy Schools says, “students are directly affected by these issues, yet are too young to vote. The health forum is a platform for brainstorming, for expressing ideas and for figuring out ways to communicate those ideas for the betterment of their society.”
The forum will provide students an opportunity to interact with their peers through small group activities as well as plenary sessions designed to give voice to their concerns regarding tobacco use, the industry and public policy. Animators will be present to help students find creative ways to address the issues both on-site, and afterwards in their own schools. Students will also be encouraged to come up with a collective message to be delivered to Lucie Charlebois, Minister for Rehabilitation, Youth Protection and Public Health. Following the forum, student representatives, along with the Spiritual Community Animator for their school, will be asked to facilitate a post-forum lunch-hour activity featuring a “Q&A” card challenge.
In Montréal, one in five Secondary V students already uses tobacco products and this is a call to action to us all, underlines Dr. Richard Massé, director of public health. This health forum is an excellent strategy not only to raise awareness among youth about the unsavoury marketing strategies used by the tobacco industry, but ultimately to empower these students to take a stand in favour of a healthier society and inspire their peers to act as well.
