St. Raphael's Ruins Outside of Cornwall Ontario
The Ruin of St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church National Historic Site of Canada is an evocative stone ruin set within a pastoral ecclesiastical landscape in South Glengarry County, Ontario. In 1970, St. Raphael’s roof, its 1830s tower and all of its 1900 interior decoration were destroyed by fire. The outer walls were spared and thus its plan, impressive scale and fine masonry work were preserved. The masonry shell of the formerly grand church is complemented by an old burial ground, a small modern church, and other ecclesiastical buildings that stand nearby. The designation refers to the church ruin on its footprint.

Spirit Rock Conservation Area Corran Ruins, Wiarton Canada
Lavishly furnished 1881 stone mansion residence of Canadian politician Alexander McNeill, the Corran overlooked Lake Huron's Colpoy's Bay. Later unoccupied, it was vandalized and burned soon after its 1976 purchase by the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority. The ruins were stablized and form an interesting side trail of Ontario's famous Bruce Trail.

We are a young parish of faithful whose mission is to love and honor God and to follow the example set for us by Jesus in the Holy Scripture – to be witnesses of His compassionate love for all people. Since our parish was established in 2007, we have been holding Mass in a remodeled barn in northern Lake County, Illinois. In just under six years, our parish has grown and our temporary church in the barn is no longer adequate. So, with the support of our Archbishop, we have started to build a new church with the salvaged remains of two closed and deteriorating Chicago churches of classical and sacred architecture.
Our new church, which will express the majesty and dignity of the House of God, will be a spiritual home for all the people. Any and all are welcome. Whether you are a parishioner or a visitor, young or old, Catholic or from another faith tradition, your presence in our home strengthens our community. If you make our church your home or drop in as a guest, we will treat you with dignity and respect—your presence is our honor.
