Knock-down drag-out fight with naked man inside church... pepper spray was of little use... Tasers deployed... suspect and officer both transported to CCH... [HN VIDEO]
HYANNIS – Multiple police squad cars rushed to a knock-down drag-out fight with a naked man inside Saint Francis Xavier Church this afternoon.
At about 3:45PM, just as elementary-aged children in their little Catholic school uniforms were spilling out into the Saint Francis Xavier parking lot to awaiting parents, a fully naked 22-year-old man was walking down the middle of High School Road from an area to the rear of the prep school toward Main Street.
Police followed the naked man into the church and that's when what was described as a “knock-down drag-out” fight occurred which injured both the suspect and one of the first officers on scene.
According to a source, pepper spray was used and “Tasers” were deployed, all in an effort to secure the naked man in handcuffs... and eventually onto a stretcher.
According to witnesses, the suspect was carried out in what looked like a body bag... but then was removed from the bag and placed onto a stretcher. The suspect was then transported in a ambulance, along with rescue personal and two police officers, followed by a third officer in a cruiser, to CCH.
A Barnstable Patrolman, the officer credited with making the arrest, was able to walk out of the church to an awaiting ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The following HN Video highlights the scene and some of the police radio transmissions... Check back for updates...

God Bless America
“Today on many calendars it says, ‘Patriot Day’, and I think sometimes we forget that Patriotism is a Christian virtue. It’s not to be confused with nationalism. Patriotism is the appropriate love and respect for one’s country; and the understanding that we have the responsibility, as citizens of this country, to make sure that we promote the best of our values and the United States’ founding purpose. And that, from the very beginning, was one of the missions of Central Catholic High School. That the men who would go through their four years here would leave with a sense of love and commitment and responsibility for their country.” – Brother Robert Schaefer, FSC, Principal
At Central Catholic, as we recall the events of 9/11, we have the opportunity to mention God and to pray for His blessing on this country and this community.
Following mass, our students joined together in silent reflection and prayer before singing, “God Bless America.”

My Family's Coat of Arms
It should be noted that the Bromflete Coat of Arms was the first ever issued. I am a Son of the American Revolution and the Son of the Founders of Hartford, Connecticut. My 10th. John Winthrop was a 9th. Uncle through his Sister, Lucy. William Pitkin, Connecticut Governor, was my 8th. Uncle and Robert Treat, another early Governor was my 9th. Uncle. I'm related to almost every President of the U.S.A. and to the first Prime Minister of Canada, Sir John A. Interesting facts: My 9th. Grandfather, John Lathrop, started the first library in this country in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Both Harvard and Yale (Yale is related by blood and through marriage on the Mix (aka Meeks) side of the family who sold him the property where Yale University is on now) have seen a cousin from my family as their Presidents. Colin Francis MacKinnon, my 3rd. Great Uncle, founded Saint Francis Xavier College and Saint Ninian's Cathedral in Nova Scotia, Canada. 5 of my 8th. Grandmothers were hanged as witches in Massachusetts during the witch hunts. Two of my 9th. Grandmothers were native Americans who were Daughters of Indian Chiefs. My 30th. Recently, I have found that the Dyer line leading back to the Dyer who was hanged for being a Quaker was in error. The correction was made on my genealogy chart. The Dyer crest is still correct though as they show up on two other lines. Also, I added Ann Trumbull to my tree recently. She married a Robert Swain. Both died in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts.

STORYLINE:
Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the presidential sister who founded the Special Olympics, was celebrated on Friday at a funeral mass.
She was described as a fearless warrior for the voiceless who changed the world for (m) millions and an unconventional woman who smoked Cuban cigars and played tackle football.
She was momentum on wheels, Maria Shriver said of her mother, who died Tuesday at age 88.
She was, as you all know, determined to change the world for people with intellectual disabilities. And you had no choice, but to join her in her mission, she added
Her family did not release a cause of death.
The Special Olympics torch led a procession for Shriver past thousands of onlookers who lined the streets outside St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Friends, family and athletes from the movement she founded in 1968 gathered for the private service.
Shriver's only living brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, who has been battling brain cancer, did not attend the funeral.
Maria Shriver and her husband, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, joined other family members to carry the casket into the church, the same place where the two were married 23 years earlier.
Standing with her four brothers during her eulogy, Maria Shriver said her Mummy liked to hang with the guys, but all her heroes, except her brother, Jack, were women.
Maria said she was grateful her mother's life and work were getting so much attention, and that young women in particular saw a role model who never conformed to what society might have wanted.
Loretta Claiborne, a former Special Olympics athlete and longtime friend of Shriver's, delivered welcoming remarks at the service, also attended by Vice President Joe Biden, Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Jon Bon Jovi and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
Shriver's 19 grandchildren each offered prayers, giving thanks to her for teaching them to sail, for insisting girls are equal to boys, and for the lesson of helping those in need.
