Archbishop Thabo Makgoba delivers Easter Sermon in Cape Town
The Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, says the God of second chances has showed South Africa that He has not given up on it. Makgoba delivered the Easter Sermon at the St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town into the early hours of this morning . Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is the pinnacle of the Christian faith. The day is marked by millions of people around the world.

A prayer service to mark the start of repair work to St. George's Cathedral
A prayer service has been held to mark the start of much-needed repair work to the roof of one of South Africa's most iconic buildings.
St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town has been dubbed the People's Cathedral, for especially its role during the liberation struggle and period of political change in the country. The building's roof has over the decades deteriorated to such an extent prompting a campaign to raise funds for its complete overhaul.

RSCM Cathedral Course : St George’s Cape Town 1976 (Simon Preston)
The LP of the Cathedral course held from 12th – 19th January 1976 at at St George’s Cathedral, Cape Town.
Musical direction by Simon Preston, with Barry Smith, the cathedral organist, and Jacobus van Soelen, cathedral organ scholar, for the Murrill canticles.
17 trebles and 19 adults from all parts of South Africa took part in this, the first national Cathedral course organised by the Cape Town Branch of the RSCM. Choral Evensong was sung every night in the Cathedral, culminating in the final Festival Evensong on the Sunday 18th January, from which most the content of this LP record was taken, issued by Claribel.

Outspoken critic of Apartheid Desmond Tutu has ended 10 years as Archbishop of Cape Town.
But he will remain a force in South Africa as chairman of the country's truth commission.
He attended an emotional retirement ceremony at the city's St. George's Cathedral on Sunday.
Earlier he was guest of honour at a farewell banquet.
Friends and colleagues gathered on Saturday night to say a fond farewell to Desmond Tutu, the outgoing Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town.
After a decade in the job he's earned a special place in their affections - and a popular nickname.

After the banquet and celebrations, Tutu had an early start on Sunday, preparing for his retirement ceremony at St. George's Cathedral.
It was another chance for South Africans, and the head of the Anglican Church - Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey - to pay tribute to the Nobel Peace Prize winner.

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa, visited St George’s Cathedral Church in Cape Town CBD this morning.
The visit was part of some of the ANC top 6 leaders programme that commenced with visits to faith based communities in line with the objectives of the party's revolutionary pilgrimage. The Officials later joined a number of ANC veterans for lunch with the programme culminating with the #Mandela100 Rally, at the Grand Parade in Cape Town.
