St Mary's Catholic Church in Altus Arkansas
St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altus, Arkansas
Dedicated in 1902 under the pastorate of Benedictine Father Placidus Oeschle, the church is a basilica type architecture of native sandstone quarried from the hill of its location. It is famous for its original gold-leaf murals by German artist, Fridolin Fuchs, and its stained glass windows by Mr. Emil Frei of St. Louis, Missouri, and the Art Glass Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Located atop a hill known variously as Pond Creek Mountain, Mount Bethel, St. Mary's Mountain, and the Hill, St Mary's Church is visible fro several miles with its 120-foot towel and two white crosses. Most parishioners are of German and Swiss decent, although the Slavic names remaining from the miners and Irish names dot the records.
Its significance in the history of railroad, the mines and winemaking in Arkansas brings a constant stream of visitors to the natural state.

A Beautiful Catholic American Church !!!
St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady, New York. One of the most beautiful churches in Schenectady and New York State, and probably in the U.S.A. There are 24 baby angel heads around its sunlit dome. Just heavenly and spectacular to look upon.
