Spent a couple of hours sightseeing around Negombo on Saturday 17th August 2013 & spent almost 45 min's looking around this beautiful church, also witnessed a local wedding inside.

In the Morden world it is very rare that one will be abel to see Golden wedding Anniversary celebrations because many in the modern world get married by the bible and get divorced by the law. The hymn Ave Maria was sung beautifully by Mary Ann she is well known for her choir known as the Mary Ann singers. Mary Ann singing this hymn Ave Maria brought back golden memories to me because I have bee to her home at wellawatta to teach her son when he was sitting for his London o levels ooh the memories! the hospitality she and her husband gave me at their home. A lady who sang in the choir for this couples wedding fifty years ago. In this same church sang in the choir for their Golden wedding Anniversary in the same church st Mary's Church Bambalapitiya. St Mary's Church Bambalapitiya has a history of over a century. Weddings take centre stage in this church . when the famous wedding hymn the voice that breathed o eaden is sung with the third verse most people are not looking at their hymn sheets but at the bride in all her glory dressed in white on white lace on satin walking up the Isle to make her marriage vows in the presence of God in the same manner many drunkards have walked up this church Isle to receive holy communion all dressed up in a white spur coat and a pink carnation according to the novel jam fruit tree by Carl muller which has won international awards in English literature. One must not forget that the first miracle jesus did was turning water into wine although it is said that no drunkard shall enter the kingdom of heaven. Then one may ask the question what is the difference between a wine drinker and a drunkard. One may have to refer to the Oxford dictionary to get a unique understanding of a wine drinker and a drunkard. Some years ago I was passing st. Sebastian church Moratuwa on one of my tuition rounds I stepped in and sat at th e back pew .The mass was conducted by the parish priest known as Rev Soysa in his sermon he said churches are quotechurches are not museums of saints but hospitals for sinners .How true these sayings still echo in my ears. It is said that God judges people onces they are dead then what right have we got to judge people when they are living. Rev Soysa had given up a luxurious Accountancy carrier to serve in the vineyard of God . this was his calling. God bless you all.

Security forces stood guard as hundreds of worshippers attended the first Sunday mass at St. Lucia's Cathedral in Colombo after the Easter Sunday bombings claimed 253 lives in April.
Security personnel patrolled the premises and attendees were reportedly searched and frisked for explosives.
The bombings in Sri Lanka on April 21 killed 253 people and injured more than 450 in eight seemingly coordinated explosions that rocked hotels and churches across the country.
Six blasts took place in the Sri Lankan capital while two further explosions occurred in the western city of Negombo and the eastern city of Batticaloa.

The month of may is a month devoted to the lady of the rosary. The lady of the rosary has mostly appeared to children this is also a mystery like the rosary. It is said that God judges people once they are dead then what right have we got to judge people when they are living. With the words ave Maria which means it is the hour of prayer I will close.
