⁴ᴷ Battery Park to Liberty Island, NYC Full Statue Cruises Ferry Ride
I ride on a Statue Cruises ferry from Battery Park in Lower Manhattan to Liberty Island, where the Statue of Liberty is located. Once on the island, you're free to explore as long as you want until the last ferry departs. However, you need either a pedestal ticket or crown ticket to enter the statue herself.
The Statue Cruises ferry is currently the only way to get onto Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Don't fall to scams by ticket sellers claiming to go to the Statue of Liberty!

The cruise ride from: Battery Park in Manhattan, New York City to: Liberty Island / The Statue of Liberty.
This same cruise ride, provided by Hornblower Cruises and Events / Statue Cruises, picks you up at Battery Park on the southern most tip of Manhattan Island, New York City. It takes you across New York Harbor to Liberty Island / The Statue of Liberty and also takes you to the historical Ellis Island.
A very nice and affordable time for you and your family to enjoy.
I recommend that everyone take this little trip at least one time in your life.
It is breathtaking and mind blowingly BEAUTIFUL ! ! !
According to the United States Census Bureau, Liberty Island has a land area of 59,558 square meters, or 14.717 acres, which is the property of the federal government. Liberty Island is located in the Upper New York Bay surrounded by the waters of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, but its built portions and docks fall under the jurisdiction of the City of New York. The historical developments which led to this construction created the rare situation of an exclave of one state, New York, being situated in another, New Jersey. The island is operated by the National Park Service, and since September 11, 2001, guarded by around-the-clock patrols of the United States Park Police Marine Patrol Unit. Liberty Island is 2000 feet (600m) east of Liberty State Park in Jersey City and is 1.58 statute miles (2.6 kilometers) southwest of Battery Park in Lower Manhattan. Public access is permitted only by ferries from either of the two parks, which also serve nearby Ellis Island to the north. Hornblower Cruises and Events, operating under the name Statue Cruises, holds the exclusive concession for ferry service to and from the island.

Statue of Liberty Cruise & Tour (via Statue Cruises)
We visited the Statue of Liberty with Pedestal Tickets bought from Statue Cruises- see what it was like from our visit in late June 2019. We arrived at Liberty State Park in Jersey City for departure of the ferry boat. If you are taking a rideshare such as Lyft or Uber like we did, be sure to indicate your drop off location as Central Railroad New Jersey Terminal- otherwise you could be dropped off near the entrance of Liberty State Park which would be nearly a mile from where you need to be for the cruise.
You also have to go through an airport-style security check before reaching the waiting area for the Statue Cruises ferry. The Ferry first took us to Ellis Island where you can visit the former immigration building which is now a museum, as well as the abandoned hospital.
The ferry stopped about 15 minutes at Ellis Island before proceeding to Liberty Island, during which is a nice chance for a good photo op as you can see in the video.
After getting onto Liberty Island, we proceeded to the Statue of Liberty to tour the pedestal, but beforehand we had to stow away our backpack in a locker, plus go through another airport-style security check.
Once inside we visited the museum first which provided a nice visual history and the background story behind the Statue of Liberty. We then climbed the stairs (you can take an elevator as well) up to the pedestal, which took about 4 minutes. There you can go outside to take in beautiful views of Jersey City, Manhattan, Upper Bay & Hudson River. We also got a glimpse of the Celebrity Summit, the cruise ship which we had disembarked from earlier in the morning.
It was a great experience- just note that it could get crowded and very hot during the summer, so stay hydrated and bring hats & apply sunscreen.

The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World; French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.
Ellis Island, in Upper New York Bay, was the gateway for over 12 million immigrants to the U.S. as the United States' busiest immigrant inspection station for over 60 years[8] from 1892 until 1954. Ellis Island was opened January 1, 1892. The island was greatly expanded with land reclamation between 1892 and 1934. Before that, the much smaller original island was the site of Fort Gibson and later a naval magazine. The island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1965 and has hosted a museum of immigration since 1990.
The Battery (formerly known as Battery Park) is a 25-acre (10 ha) public park located at the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City facing New York Harbor. The park and surrounding area is named for the artillery batteries that were positioned there in the city's early years to protect the settlement behind them.
