STORYLINE
Pope Benedict XVI ended his three-day visit to the Czech Republic on Monday with a farewell ceremony at Prague's Stara Ruzyne International Airport.
Benedict was accompanied by Czech President Vaclav Klaus and his wife Livia Klausova at the event, where he was saluted by a guard of honour before boarding his plane.
Earlier on Monday, the pope led an open-air Mass attended by at least 40-thousand worshippers.
He declared the Czech Republic's martyred patron saint a model for leaders, saying the world needs God-fearing people prepared to follow the
ethical principles of Christianity.
The 82-year-old pope told believers that they could learn from patron St. Wenceslas, who was murdered by his pagan brother in 935.
The pope's visit, which began on Saturday, came as the country prepares to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1989 Velvet Revolution, which ousted a communist regime that had ruthlessly persecuted believers and confiscated church property.
Although his overall reception was tepid, with no posters or billboards announcing the trip, the faithful - some from nearby Austria, Germany, Poland
and Slovakia - gathered before dawn in anticipation of the mass, held in a meadow in Stara Boleslav, 15 miles (25 kilometres) northeast of Prague.
Benedict has used his pilgrimage to recall the evils of communist-era religious repression and to coax indifferent Czechs back to the church.
Throughout the trip, he carefully avoided discussing abortion, gay marriage and other controversial issues - an apparent attempt to avoid further antagonising many already apathetic Czechs.
Czechs are among Europe's most secular people.
In 1991, 4.5 (m) million of the country's 10 (m) million people said they belonged to a church, but a 2001 census showed that number had plunged to 3.3 (m) million.
Recent surveys suggest the number of believers remains low.

The most tourist cemeteries in Europe
List about the most tourist cemeteries in Europe
Some of the most tourist cemeteries in Europe. Necrotourism or cemetery tourism becomes fashionable.
In this list about the most tourist cemeteries in Europe you can find:
17. Saint Paul de Vence (France)
16. Mirogoj (Croatia)
15. Kalavryta (Greece)
14. Cemitério dos Prazeres (Portugal)
Protestant Cemetery (Italy)
Zentralfriedhof (Austria)
Monumental cemetery of Staglieno (Italy)
Cemetery of Poblenou (Spain)
American Cemetery of Normandy (France)
Highgate Cemetery (England)
Greyfriars Cemetery (Scotland)
Montparnasse Cemetery (France)
Cemetery of Montjuic (Spain)
Jewish Cemetery of Prague (Czech Republic)
Cemetery of the Père-Lachaise (France)
Cemetery of Comillas (Spain)
Cemetery of Luarca (Spain)
17. Saint Paul de Vence (France)
Because of its appearance it could be a perfect example of a small village cemetery, with its white and whitewashed tombstones, and its walks full of treacherous gravel. Yes, that is at the end of the cypress road, where fresh flowers are always missing and always smells clean. However, the light of the Côte d'Azur is hanging from every corner and the views of the fortified village of Saint Paul de Vence are memorable. Located on the rocky plateau of Puy from here we can almost touch the Mediterranean horizon. So much that it was the place chosen by the king of color, Marc Chagall, to spend eternity.
16. Mirogoj (Croatia)
Arches, vaults and pavilions coexist in perfect harmony with a vegetation halfway to the wild, where there is abundant climbing ivy and ancient lichens. A garden created for the dead, which on many occasions the living also enjoy, thanks to the romantic beauty of its sculptures, converted into a spectacular outdoor Art Gallery. Built at the end of the 19th century by the Austrian architect Hermann Bollé on the slopes of the mountain of Medvednica, its monumental architecture responds to the tastes of the most influential families of the time and today - still active - it turns it into one of the graveyards most beautiful in Europe.
15. Kalavryta (Greece)
Probably one of the saddest cemeteries in the world, especially for what it symbolizes. At first glance, its sharp cypresses protect the dry mountainous landscape of the Peloponnese peninsula like a green dome, but inside, protected by a huge white cross, hundreds of modest tombstones repeat like a mantra the same date: December 13, 1943, the day in which the Nazis charged the small and picturesque village of Kalavryta, massacring all men and boys over 12 years of age.
14. Cemitério dos Prazeres (Portugal)
It is a cemetery located in the western part of Lisbon, in the parish of Prazeres, near the district of Campo de Ourique, and is the largest cemetery in the Portuguese capital. When the city of Lisbon was invaded by an outbreak of cholera, in 1833, the creation of a large cemetery was urgent; for this purpose the Cemitério dos Prazeres was created. The name of 'the Pleasures' derives from the name of the old villa that occupied the place where the cemetery is currently located. Among the illustrious personalities that are buried in the 'Rincón de los Artistas' of Cemitério dos Prazeres, there are mainly actors, singers, writers, painters and television presenters. The fadist Amália Rodrigues, initially buried here, was later transferred to the Panteão Nacional, also in Lisbon, after enormous pressure from her fans, and after the modification of the law that required a minimum of four years before the transfer.

Relax with Kinetic Rain - This will relieve your stress !
German design collective ART+COM have installed over a thousand rising and falling metal raindrops in Singapore’s Changi Airport
Made of 1,216 bronze droplets, the two Kinetic Rain sculptures in Terminal 1 are the latest addition to Changi Airport’s collection of art installations and displays. Measuring 9.8 metres by 4 metres, each sculpture can form 16 different shapes ranging from abstract art forms to recognisable patterns including an aeroplane, a hot air balloon, a kite and even a dragon. The design element in each shape shows the movement of flight through slow, fluid movements.
Each droplet weighs 180 grams and is made of lightweight aluminium with a hollow centre. The droplets are specially coated with polished copper to prevent the surface from oxidisation or rust. Depending on the shape of the art form, the droplets travel a maximum distance of 7.3 metres from the ceiling to the lowest point of the pattern.
Kinetic Rain was commissioned as a calming centrepiece for the airport’s departure hall.
Designers of the Kinetic Rain created 3-dimensional models and animated them by hand. After the suite of patterns are formalised, they are fed into a computer programme which controls the motors manoeuvring the droplets. Each droplet is connected to a motor which is housed in the ceiling of the Departure Hall. The motors contain a high precision rotary encoder which keeps track of the exact position of the droplet.
The Kinetic Rain sculpture was created over a span of 20 months. From the onset of the project, artists, programmers and technologists came together to analyse the space available and came out with a solution to develop an artwork that enhances the identity of Changi’s new Terminal 1.
Aptly themed ‘Tropical City’, Changi’s new Terminal 1 is synonymous with Singapore’s garden city reputation where rain is a common feature in the tropical climate. With more than a thousand raindrops working together in harmony, the Kinetic Rain sculpture also symbolises the coming together of the thousands in the airport community to provide a positively surprising Changi Experience for passengers and visitors. Kinetic Rain is the biggest and most complex kinetic sculpture of its kind in the world, located for the first time ever at Changi Airport.
Kinetic Rain follows a 15-minute computationally designed choreography where the two parts move together in unison, sometimes mirroring, sometimes complementing, and sometimes responding to each other. In addition, several spotlight sources mounted below the installation create a play of shadows on the terminal’s ceiling as they illuminate the movement of the rain droplets. German media technology firm MKT did the mechatronic implementation of Kinetic Rain.

About ART+COM
ART+COM was founded in 1988 in Berlin by a group of artists, designers and developers who were sparked by the belief that the computer was more than a tool. Back then they realised the technology’s potential to become a universal communication medium. The group set out to practically explore its artistic, scientific and technological aspects and to put these aspects to use. Their spectrum of works ranges from artistic and design projects through to technological innovations and inventions, which have as a whole pioneered media-based spatial communication design and art in the last 25 years.
