JAPAN: TOKYO VERSION OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY (V)
Voice and effects
VOICED BY: Vera Frankl
XFA
The Statue of Liberty's torch of freedom can now be seen shining over the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
The Japanese version of the famous statues of New York and Paris was officially unveiled at the futuristic headquarters of Fuji Television in Tokyo on Friday.
VOICE-OVER:
0003 Dominating Tokyo Bay, the 37-foot iron and bronze statue is larger than it's sister in Paris but four times smaller than the New York original.
0012 The Parisian Statue of Liberty was lent to Japan for 10 months last year and proved so popular that Japan's Fuji Television and other companies decided to build one of their own.
0024 The statue was officially unveiled at the futuristic headquarters of Fuji Television in Tokyo on Friday by the company's president and the French ambassador to Japan.
0034 SOUNDBITE: (French) Maurice Montagnue, French Ambassador to Japan
0037 The French ambassador said Tokyo would go down in history as the third place in the world, after New York and Paris, to have a Statue of Liberty.
0048 Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the president of Fuji Television was clearly delighted that his company had had a hand in bringing Japan its own Statue of Liberty.
0059 SOUNDBITE: (Japanese) Hisashi Hieda, President Fuji TV
0102 France lent us its Statue of Liberty last year, he said. We wish we could have kept it, but now we've got our own.
0111 The new statue means that Liberty's torch of freedom now shines in three continents.

港区 Minato-ku Taken:2010.8.31
Is this New York? No it isn't, it is a statue which was lend for one year for a special event. Since the people really liked the replica of the statue of Liberty, they decided to let her stay in Odaiba.
ここはニューヨーク? いえいえ、かつてイベント用にフランスから1年間だけ借りた「自由の女神像(レプリカ)」が、あまりにも評判が良く、常時置くことになったそうです。

Lady Liberty in Tokyo - Sefco Japan - Maritime related videos, series 3h (2010)
Lady Liberty looks out on Tokyo's Odaiba harbor waterfront, viewed from Aqua City - this shows how close Japan and the United States are in terms of recognizing and promoting the values of Liberty, respect for Human Rights, self-determination, and democratic values - the symbolism is clear. Where else - besides France, Japan and New York City would such a statue be held in such esteem? Recall the scenes of the Goddess of Democracy statue during the suppressed student led protests in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, 1989. This series of short videos include images taken in and around both Yokoh, ama Bay and Tokyo Harbor.
As an island nation, Japan has along history as well as current focus on maritime activities.
Its port museums reflect this history and interest; thousands of students go on tours of the museums which help stoke interest in and appreciation for maritime science ad commerce.
Included in this series, one can see: Lift-van crates stored in transit while on the docks at Yokohama Bay, covered by a large canopy, on the dock and out of doors. (Which leads us to the question: would your LCL cargo be well enough protected, to withstand the elements which dockside or in transit? Export packaging is crucial element to safe transport of sea-going cargo.)
Container ships staged at the docks andd working their cargo (loading/unloading) while on Yokohama port and Odaiba port in Tokyo Harbor.
Japanese customs house facilities, current location and past history of their operations; port control facilities run by the Japanese Coast Guard. Japanese SDF self defense force videos. Port wind & water turbines.
Historical perspectives: on and off board the Nippon Maru sailing training vessel; Yokohama Port museum, symbolic statuary for the sister port relationship between Yokohama and Vancouver ports, dockyard photos - past and present, the Minato No. 1 Bridge - built 1906 by the American Bridge Company of New York.
Be sure to return to our web site to see additional videos and presentations, on the subjects: international trade and commerce, export and import operations, overseas moving and shipping of both personal and commercial cargo, roll on - roll off ships, container ships, LCL lift-van cargo, export packaging, international freight forwarding agent facilities, overseas transport of high & heavy equipment , and special analysis of martime history, law and issues pertaining to Sefco Export Management Company's business - including examinations of the nexus of culture, commerce, politics and national interests.

Odaiba 2012 (Gundam-Liberty-Palette Town-Tokyo Big Sight)
Odaiba beach is the closest beach from Tokyo downtown, and many events are held here. Odaiba is not just a beach; it also has entertainments: like shopping, amusement spot, and restaurant. Japanese loves convenience. Convenience Store is conveniently located right next to the beach. There is a world famous statue of liberty in Odaiba, too. Japanese largest TV Station is also here in Odaiba. Tourist info: Odaiba (sometimes known as Daiba and sometimes referred to as the Tokyo Teleport Town) is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan. Access: 0. at Tokyo Station 1. use Yamanote (JR) to Shinbashi (3 min.) 2. use Yurikamome to Odaiba Kaihin Koen (13 min.) Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo. It was initially built for defensive purposes in the 1800s, dramatically expanded during the late 20th century as a seaport district, and has developed since the 1990s as a major commercial, residential and leisure area. Daiba formally refers to one district of the island development in Minato City. The Odaiba name is commonly used to refer to the entire Tokyo Waterfront Secondary City Center which includes the Ariake and Aomi districts of Koto City and the Higashi-Yashio district of Shinagawa City. Odaiba was originally constructed in 1853 by the Tokugawa shogunate as a series of 6 fortresses in order to protect Tokyo from attack by sea, the primary threat being Commodore Matthew Perry's Black Ships, which had arrived in the same year. Daiba in Japanese refers to the cannon batteries placed on the islands. In 1928, the 3rd daiba was refurbished and opened to the public as park, which remains open to this day. The modern redevelopment of Odaiba started after the success of Expo '85 in Tsukuba. The Japanese economy was riding high, and Odaiba was to be a showcase as futuristic living, built at a cost of over $10 billion. Unfortunately, the bubble economy burst in 1991, and by 1995 Odaiba was a virtual wasteland, underpopulated and full of vacant lots. In 1996, the area was rezoned from pure business to allow also commercial and entertainment districts, and the area started coming back to life as Tokyo discovered the seaside it never had. Hotels and shopping malls opened up, several large companies (including Fuji TV) moved their headquarters to the island, and transportation links improved.

Storia[modifica | modifica wikitesto]

Journey In Japan - Return to Tokyo: Minato and Asakusa
Vlogs/footage from my 4th and 5th days in Tokyo! Day 4: I visited the Pokemon Center (I tried so hard to get a video in there but I guess I wasn't filming when I thought I was...) and Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden in Minato. Funny story, you have to pay to get in, and when I left I left my wallet behind in a tree (don't ask..) I had an interesting time explaining why I needed to get back in without paying, but they were understanding enough and let me run back to get it. Then after I went on a mini shopping spree at the Daiso.
Day 5: I thought I had taken a lot more footage, but again, I must have thought I was filming without actually pressing the right button. -.- I rode around Asakusa, wandered around Nakamise Dori, then visited the Skytree with my friend Kosaku.
Again, sorry for the lack of footage. I was too busy enjoying my days to worry about filming all the time.
