The Steppingstone Museum is a non-profit educational and cultural institution on the Susquehanna River, northwest of Havre de Grace, Maryland, whose mission is to preserve and interpret the rural heritage of Harford County, Maryland.The museum displays and preserves the private collection of 7,000 tools and artifacts amassed by J. Edmund Bull along with later accessions. The Bull collection was first displayed at his home, which he called Steppingstone. In 1979, the museum relocated to the former Gilman Paul property, an 18th-century farm now in Susquehanna State Park, and the museum was expanded to include demonstrations of various trades commonplace in rural America of the 19th century. Barns and farm buildings exhibit the work of broom makers, blacksmiths, stone cutters, masons, and other tradesmen.The museum programs special events relating to 19th- and early 20th-century history.

War Of 1812 Bicentennial Event And Encampment Held In Havre De Grace On May 5, 2012

War Of 1812 events are very uncommon so I was elated to see the Susquehanna Museum At The Lock House in Havre De Grace, Maryland hold this Encampment. As all of you know, 2012 marks the 200th Anniversary of the start of the conflict. This was a very fine event and the Museum only charged three dollars to attend.

Maryland Has a New Milken Educator: Thomas Dennison

Fifth-grade teacher Thomas Dennison loves helping his students tap into their powerful imaginations, staging Revolutionary War reenactments with water balloons and organizing massive math-oriented scavenger hunts. But Dennison never imagined that the all-school assembly at Havre de Grace Elementary School, with visiting dignitaries like Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen B. Salmon and Harford County Public School District Superintendent Barbara P. Canavan, would actually turn out to be for him! Watch as Mike Milken, co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, surprises Dennison with Maryland's 2016-17 Milken Educator Award and a $25,000 check, making it a day Dennison will remember for the rest of his career.
