Stony Brook Gristmill and Museum
Built in 1873, using recycled wood from a local saltworks, the Stony Brook Gristmill is open Saturdays in July and August from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is free. Fresh cornmeal is available for purchase. The stream flowing from the mill pond is also a popular attraction in the spring during the herring run.

Brewster protects its rural character through its by-laws and sign codes. Over one third of its land is protected, and it boasts the best drinking water on Cape Cod. Established in 1803, the town encompasses approximately twenty three square miles, with 24 ponds larger than 10 acres in size. The year-round population of 9,800 grows to about 25,000 during the summer season.
Located on the bay side, this town is known for its many beaches with vast tidal flats which make it a beachcomber’s paradise. It is also home to Nickerson State Park – the Cape’s largest state forest where there are fresh water ponds for swimming and canoeing, as well as hiking and biking trails. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs through Brewster and links up to Nickerson’s trail network. It also features two renowned golf courses: the Ocean Edge Golf Club – the Cape’s only Nicklaus Design course, and the Captains Golf Course – the Cape’s premier public golf course facility. It is also home to the herring run at Stony Brook Grist Mill (take a look at our Stony Brook Grist Mill video) , the playground at Drummer Boy Park, the fabulous Brewster Ladies Library, and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History with its 400 acres of bayside nature trails.

Brewster is in Bloom and everyone is looking forward to witnessing the migration of the herring at the Stony Brook herring run. In 2017 while looking for the first sign of the herring migrating, We found the white sided sucker fish spawning before the herring arrived. Here is the link to that video:
